Rented a kayak without realizing our party had already booked them separately. My mistake--I reached out within 8 hours to explain the duplicate booking and ask about a refund. Was told "no refunds, but you can use it as credit." Went in person to see what alternatives they had. They suggested using the credit toward a different activity, but only during their off-season in 3 months--and I'd still need to pay full price on top of the credit. In their busy season right now, the credit is essentially worthless. This feels intentional. They keep the money from the duplicate rental, trap the credit behind their busy season, and force me to either eat the loss or wait months for a partial remedy that still costs me. No acknowledgment of the inconvenience or willingness to work with a customer who caught their own mistake immediately and asked nicely. If you rent from them, expect inflexible refund policies and credit terms designed to benefit them, not you. I won't be going back. read more

Highly recommend whether you're a local or tourist!! they have group classes for kayaks (2 person or 1 person), surf lessons and snorkeling lessons. We did the 2 person kayak and originally booked through TripAdvisor but next time, we'll book directly through them after realizing they're a local company. It was around $100 for our 2 person kayak which seemed reasonable for a quick day date. Make sure you're 30 minutes before your booking time so you can check in and get supplies for your activity. For kayaking, it was a 90 min event and it's helpful to wear a swimsuit since you'll get wet and have a chance to swim. They took us through parts by the coast and we got to see lots of different fish and sea lions. Tip; make sure to bring water proof, floating bag for your phone since lockers can be $6 and I wish we would have brought our GoPro for the underwater views. The tour guides Thomas and Spencer were knowledgeable and helpful. We had a few guys who were in our tour that kept going overboard and the guides were patient with them even as the guys got a little annoying with their kayak intentionally tipping a few times. Overall, I'm really glad we went and will be back for other activities with friends and family. read more

I'm so glad I booked this last minute adventure, definitely worth it. I have been kayaking before but never in the ocean, the waves made everything a bit more fun. Our tour guides were Elizabeth and Louie, they were Awesome! They were very knowledgeable, I loved hearing stories about different sites you see while on the tour as well as marine life. They also made us feel very safe. The water was a little nippy and I'm a baby so I did get a wetsuit they offered for an extra fee, although my partner was fine without. They do have lockers you can rent as well. The cavern was beautiful and we got to see lots of baby sea lions (or seals idk) I will be back next time I come to San Diego! read more

They give you wetsuit to wear and you will get wet fyi. We weren't prepare for it so didn't wear swim bottoms. The guide was super nice and patient with the group. They also have a location in Huntington Beach, which is great to know if you're elsewhere in SoCal. They offer tours, surf lessons, and rentals for kayaks, paddle boards, snorkel gear, and surfboards. The package deals are excellent and totally worth it. If you're a water lover, this is absolutely the place to go. I stop into this store every year when I'm in La Jolla, and it never disappoints. The sales associates are always super friendly and knowledgeable. I somehow always leave with a t-shirt -- I love their surf-holding bear logo, so cool! I haven't taken one of their tours yet (never enough time!), but it's always tempting because the La Jolla coastline is just beautiful. What a great and exciting kayaking experience! We booked this through Airbnb and everything was ready for us when we arrived. We came 30 minutes early (highly recommend arriving early since they will leave without you). The experience itself was about 1 hour and 30 minutes, where they took us out to a cove. Everything went smoothly, and thanks to Jordan and Josiah we were well taken care of. We were also very fortunate to see dolphins, a baby whale, and tiger sharks--all on our short trip! Definitely worth checking out if you've never been kayaking before or if you just want to see some cool wildlife in SD. Everyday California was amazing! Booking our La Jolla kayaking online was seamless. All of their emailed instructions were detailed and gave you all of the information needed. You meet in the shop first and purchase what you want, we rented wetsuits and a locker and I had a waterproof bag already for my phone. You suit up and get your helmet and life jacket and then you all walk to the beach as a group once ready. Colby and Cat were our 2 guides and super knowledgeable and fun!! They take you out to the caves and as long as weather permits you are able to go inside. We saw tiger sharks, a stingray, seals etc. The prices are so reasonable for what you get as well. We lucked up and got a last minute spot at 0930 hours on a holiday Friday. There are tandem and single options and tours with snorkeling. We just did a tandem without the snorkeling. The instructions were helpful on where to park and what to bring. They have lockers on sight but if you want to take loose items, like your phone or glasses, be prepared for it to get wet or lost if not secured. We bought a phone case and glasses band, but would've gotten them cheaper somewhere else if we had known. You'll wear a helmet so you may want to bring something for your hair. Wear plenty of sunscreen and bring some water. Our day was beautiful, not too hot or cold and the water was clear, so we got to see a lot of marine life even without snorkeling. The views from the Pacific are breathtaking in all directions. There are frequent stops for those who don't want to be constantly rowing for an hour. There are lots of tours going on at the same time so some stops are crowded. Our tour guides Lydia and Addy were helpful comedic and knowledgeable. They remembered everyone's name and kept a watch out for everyone. We would definitely take the tour again and it is a great outdoor activity. You'll get wet so bring a towel and/or a change of clothes for the ride home. read more

Amazing experience! As a first timer on the water, petrified of the Ocean, Sawyer and Kevin were incredible guides! They explained complex ocean ecosystems, had lighthearted jokes to keep the group entertained and paying attention to safety, and they were there to keep us safe! Scheduled the kayaking tour with my fiancé, best friend and his fiancé. when we get down to the water my fiancé and I kept tipping over due to non proper weight distribution which was not a huge problem at first because they put us into one person kayaks. After we paddle out to the meetup point the guide tells us he's over the boat count and cannot take us now. when we try to explain that to the desk they say that refunds are not an option and that we would have to reschedule for another time. Unfortunately that was our last day and we could not reschedule so they give us the option to gift it to a family member however we live 800 miles away and no one we know would be able to use the coupon. I would have to say I do not recommend them for this reason because we could not do anything about them overbooking our time and not taking us out. We had the pleasure of going on a kayak tour through the La Jolla caves with Reed & Calvin. They were knowledgeable and presented a good safety case. Gave us a lot of local and ecological information. Presented as good stewards of the ocean and ocean life. It was a rare day that we got to go into the caverns - Reed swam us all in so we didn't 't slam against the walls. Funny and fun, appreciated awesome local guys giving us this very local look. Everyday California is the best!! I had a voucher that was a few years old, but they were so accommodating and let me use it. I signed up for the kayak and snorkel tour and it was such a beautiful day out. Lydia and Kian were such great tour guides and helpers. My bf had really bad motion sickness (despite taking medicine before), and they were both incredibly helpful and kind throughout it all. Wishing them happiness and success :) Tips: 1) come at least an hour early prior to your listed time! You need to find street parking in the residential areas so that takes a moment and you need to walk to the store. You will then get checked in and offered add ons such as a wet suit and a locker. It will take time trying on the wet suit and finding the size for you and just sorting out your things before you head out. (I only got to the store 30 min prior and it was a mess and I felt bad for everyone in my group) 2) Get a wetsuit!! We went mid June with the UV at 11 but the water is still really cold. Bring your own or rent one there! 3) Sunscreen everything!! I'm dumb and didn't sunscreen my feet or hands and now I look stupid with these tan lines lol so once again come early so u have time to sunscreen! 4) If you're coming for a tour, get ready to work those arms. I workout daily but I was still in pain (I'm probably just weak) so be prepared to get a workout in!! They were really accommodating even though my party was running late, which they us know this was only possible because it was winter season and there wasn't back to back tours for the day. I found out from a friend that I could book kayaks on ClassPass, so I jumped at the opportunity. I've been in San Diego for several years, but have not spent much time on the water. The reservation process was easy, and we signed a waiver prior to coming to the shop. The guys at the shop were super friendly and got us oriented to the water quickly. We had a 10:15 am reservation and they were not busy at that time. My only small gripe is that I wish their website had more information about what to wear to go kayaking. They had wetsuits for rent and waterproof pouches for sale, but my friend and I made do with what we wore, and we were ok. This may be very obvious to people who kayak, but for newcomers like me, you need to walk into the ocean to get into your kayak, so you will at minimum get wet from the waist down. You get your life jackets at the shop, then walk a block down to the ocean where there are more employees that get you set up with the kayak. The worker at the beach reinforced what the guys at the shop told us, pointing out lifeguards and landmarks in the water, before showing us how to paddle. Once we were ready, he dragged our kayak out into the surf and held it steady as we climbed in. With a strong shove, we were off! Our rental was for 1.5 hours and we had a really good time! Despite never kayaking before, we quickly figured out how to paddle and steer, and even as two girls with noodle arms, there was less resistance than expected. We thought we would end before our scheduled time was up, but we found ourselves floating and vibing till the last minute. It was really fun being rushed on shore by the waves, and I was sad to get off the kayak. I checked the price online if I were to rent from them directly, and it was about $45 for a double kayak. I wish they would just list their prices directly on their website, instead of requiring us to click in to the reservations page and seeing the price upon checkout. Maybe they do different pricing at different times. Still, I would definitely check for a Groupon or something, and do this activity again. read more

I booked a session and they said "You'll have a chance to swim with orange garibaldi fish, playful sea lions, leopard sharks, bat rays, and shovel nose guitar fish.. If you're lucky, you might even spot a sea turtle or see dolphins cruising nearby!" WE KAYAKED FOR LONGER THEN WE SNORKELED!! and all we saw was garibaldi fish and sea lions sitting on the shore. You kayak for about 30-40 minutes and snorkel for 15 minutes if that. Complete waste of money. read more

We were ok without wet suits in 60 ish degree weather and partly sunny skies. Would recommend them if it's colder or overcast. T they also have phone covers for purchase. Kayaked about 3 miles to some caves and saw (the shadows) of leopard sharks, garibaldi, and lots of pelicans and cormorants (some babies and nests too). Brady and Duke were awesome guides. I was worried due to possibly not being able to keep up, but they kept a great pace and knew when to stop to give us a little bit of history in the area. Our guide Reed Jaberg was fantastic. We had a private group of 10 on 5 tandem kayaks. The weather was absolutely perfect, the waves were small which helped getting through the surf. The team assisted one person in our party in their 70's into and out of the kayak. We had a tip over outside of the caves and Reed quickly had us both back in the kayak. The water was very refreshing. We saw some leopard sharks, garibaldi, sea lions and more. The water visibility wasn't amazing, but closer to the caves we saw more aquatic life. I was very impressed with Nathan holding the back of the kayak when we kayak surfed back to shore and then assisting one person from our party out of the kayak. Everyone was friendly and helpful. It made the experience very fun for the family. There is only one bathroom in the shop, I recommend using the bathrooms at the end of Vallecitos and rinsing off your feet there, before returning the helmets and life jackets from the tour. This was such a good time! Our tour guides name was Catalina and she's the best! She has so much knowledge about the environment and wildlife in the area. You know when you meet someone at work and you can tell they genuinely love what they do? That is her. We selected the kayaking and snorkeling tour. The tide was a littleeeee rough so we were warned against going into the caves. Sucked but it's nice knowing you're in good hands when your guide cares. We person who was not a part of the tour swim up scared and Catalina had her hold on to the boat and explained the tides and currents to her and calmed her down. For what you get the price isn't bad. Being the area I expected to pay a lot more. Wet suit rental were only like $12 I believe. Either way if you're visiting La Jolla/San Diego I highly recommend. And although I can't speak for all their employees I can say everyone was so nice and Catalina is a guaranteed good time! read more

Amazing Experience I've always wanted to try kayaking in the caves. So I was beyond excited when I found Groupon tickets for this ! I've never kayaked before and am so grateful they offer tours with guides to help you along the way. We had the awesome Kaston and Sophia. They remained calm, confident, helpful and cracked a few jokes during our tour. They explained everything clearly and were overall so cool. We got to tour the caves and it was so beautiful. Even learned a few new facts about the area. Sophia helped a few of the people from our group when they flipped over and she celebrated everybody at the end saying "we all survived!! Great job everybody" . It was way more of a workout than I anticipated and I also didn't realize how nervous I would be But I would totally do it again and bring my family next time! My friend and I took the tour package. We were both first timers in a kayak. I loved everything about it! Being with friends and enjoying the water in a way I had never known. The kayaks are super stable -- one would need to deliberately tip the kayaks to fall into the water. Our tour guide, Tom Jones, is just an amazing human being. I enjoyed him telling us about his unbelievable adventures in various outdoor sports as much as his knowledge about this secret gem hidden in Huntington Beach. I was going to try to do a kayaking lesson in the Naples canals in Long Beach but I am so glad I chose HB. The water is cleaner, the canals are wider, and the scenery is fabulous! For you bird watchers -- some pretty rare species of birds perch near the water thanks to the close proximity of the Bolsa Chica wetlands preserve. I'm planning on getting a rental pass for the summer so I can enjoy kayaking here, so needless to say, I would recommend Everyday California to anyone. If you've never been in a kayak before, taking the tour package is probably better than diving right into the rentals -- I felt so much safer with Tom at the lead -- teaching the rules of the road, how to get in and out of the kayak, and various ways to maneuver your boat. Let me start off by saying that the amazing customer service from leadership begins at the top and is shown consistently all the way down to the storefront staff. I cannot sing their praise enough. From booking the tour, to check in, and the tour itself. Everything was extremely high quality, and they definitely prioritized the safety of our group which was important because we had kids. We felt safe and looked after by Lauren and Reed the whole time on the water. Besides the tour itself, interacting with Devin in the shop really made an impact on our experience. She was thrilled to have us doing the tour and made sure all of the kids in our group were well taken care of. She went above and beyond. We had a slight hiccup with a couple of waivers and her front staff immediately got on it assisting us in the best way possible so that we could streamline the process in a more efficient manner. And they had no problem doing it! It was really amazing to see the teamwork not only among them, but with their customers as well.
