She checks in with her clients and listens to their needs and tailors each massage. No two massages are ever the same and she has a natural intuition for using just the right amount of pressure and finding the knots and crunchy spots that need extra work. Life Balance to the rescue - again!! A couple of months ago the dude pulled a muscle in his neck and couldn't turn it at all. We did a late Friday night search to see who was open Saturdays. He got in with an appointment with Bailey and left with some range of motion and much less pain. Fast forward to today, I went to bed and woke up with a killer migraine and horrible back pain. It's unfortunate that there are a couple of negative reviews on Yelp about Em. I have a different perspective in that I have gotten massages with Em a few times now, and all of them have felt centering, healing, and uplifting. Working with her has brought much relief to the muscles in my shoulders and legs. She has been consistently attentive and aware of pressure levels, and has offered solid insight about muscle groups in an accessible way. Ultimately my experience has been a highly positive one. My wife and I had an appointment with Em this morning. At the beginning I told her my points of tension were in my upper back/shoulder and lower back/hamstring area, so I was looking for some pressure to help release those areas. She had a soft touch to warm up the body, but it didn't seem to move beyond that even when I communicated to her that I could use more pressure. She seemed to dismiss my request, insisting that she just gently wanted to open things up. I kept thinking throughout the massage that maybe she would apply pressure later on, but that didn't happen. Her brief time spent on my hamstrings was nice, but it also didn't leave me feeling like it had released enough tension. I thought that it might have been a communication thing, so I told my wife (who had the appointment after me) to be specific about the amount of pressure she was looking for. She came out and it was the same story. It didn't seem like Em was receptive to our needs and we are a little disappointed. We left the place without the feeling of relief that we were looking for. We are also annoyed that it didn't seem like she was listening to our needs. It was a lot of money to spend to leave without the relief that we were seeking. I'd like to note that we've had other great massages at Life Balance, and we know what we're looking for in a massage. So if you're looking for a softer touch, maybe Em is your person, but she didn't work out for us. read more

I am a former massage therapist, and am extremely picky when it comes to receiving massage. I've been seeing Juliette regularly for the better part of a year, and there's good reasons I keep going back. Normally, I go in with specific problems (stiff shoulders, issues with my forearms, etc.) and she gets right to the meat of the matter (as it were) and sends me on my way. Juliette knows her stuff when it comes to anatomy, and has great technique for increasing range of motion and fluidity - all the stuff a good massage therapist should know. But tonight I walked in a giant ball of anxiety and told her I just needed a little TLC. I blissed my way out of there 90 minutes later feeling absolutely amazing and so cared for. I love that she can do it all! Other things I like: - She's chosen a great location, on Piedmont Ave. but just removed from the bustle. The office plaza feels peaceful and lovely. - Her office and demeanor is pleasant and professional; she strikes just the right balance between "cold and clinical" and "hippie dippy crazy." Her office even smells good - not like rancid oil like some other therapists I've seen. And I love that she's totally willing to hold conversations during sessions - or not, depending on where I'm at. - Online scheduling! Why doesn't everyone do this?! I haven't seen the other therapists that Juliette has working for her, but if Juliette's skill and passion for massage therapy is any indication, her staff is likely to be top-notch as well. I woke up this morning with my right shoulder in my ear. I couldn't turn my head, and I was miserable. Massage emergency! Fortunately, an appointment was available at Life Balance. Bailey chatted with me for a bit to find out exactly what was going on, and then I settled into the massage space. It's a pleasant, friendly-feeling place, very quiet. She went to work on my poor neck and shoulder, and by the end of the hour I was feeling MUCH better. She took the time after the hour massage to show me a diagram of exactly what muscle was wound up, and to teach me a stretch that I could do at home. Bailey was knowledgeable and professional. Two things of note. First, I had a massage with Heather, who was superb. Strong hands, good motions, and very responsive. She asked what troubled me, and then worked intensely in those areas. And, she was also less intense when I asked for sore spots. It was both strong and relaxing. I will return. Second, I had a gift certificate from almost a year ago (that a friend gave me and doesn't expire). [Not that I recommend waiting so long for a massage.] I always worry how gift certificates will be received. But no worries. It was the least stressful interaction ever. read more

I've been meaning to write this review sooner but haven't gotten around to it till now! I've been getting massages from Juliette for almost a year now. You can always count on her in giving you a nice, relaxing, but strong massage. She always listens to your specific concerns at the beginning of the visit, and addresses them during the therapy session. She also does prenatal massages, which is great because I am now 7 months pregnant and I don't know how I would be able to get through the backaches of pregnancy without her! The facility is very clean and nice. There's never been a problem with noise or interruptions for me. I always try to get there at least 15 minutes early because parking could be hard around the area. Juliette also doesn't work every day so I would try to schedule for an appointment at least 1 week in advance. read more

I just got home from a 90 minute therapeutic massage with Caitlin. I'm no stranger to massages and this was by far the best massage I have EVER had. She made me feel completely comfortable and her technique was incredible. The pressure was perfect, getting into all of the deep muscle pain while at the same time being relaxing.
