While packing up my old apartment, they broke the living room light fixture and did not fix it or take responsibility. When we arrived at my new place, I was suddenly told I would be charged $1,000 for only eight items. This was never clearly communicated beforehand. I felt like I had no choice but to pay because they were essentially holding my belongings hostage until payment was made. It only got worse from there. When unloading, they told me one of the dressers was "too heavy" and that I would need to unload it and bring everything inside myself because they weren't going to do it. I paid a moving company to move my belongings -- not to do the labor myself. Once everything was inside, I discovered: * My dining room chair was completely broken and unusable * My couch had two holes in it * One of my dressers had a front leg completely snapped off They didn't offer to pay for any of the damage just said they would contact the workers and get back with me. They claimed the dresser was already damaged when they arrived, which is absolutely untrue. I have pictures proving it was not damaged beforehand. I contacted their supervisor as instructed and sent photos. He was no help at all and simply responded with "sorry" while insisting I had been told the pricing -- which I was not. The entire interaction felt dismissive and incredibly unprofessional. This company was late, damaged my property, overcharged me without proper communication, and refused to take accountability. I am highly disappointed and extremely frustrated with how this company is managed. I strongly recommend choosing another moving company.

The person that seemed in charge this morning didn't think his truck could get down the lane due to tree limbs and hanging telephone lines which is understandable, safety first right? So we walked down to the box truck (exactly the same size and design as the trucks that delivered our stuff in the first place, what a coincidence!) and I noticed that one lane was completely passible, but he said he couldn't bring the truck down and his boss was trying to call me. His boss (in North Carolina) asked me if there was a U-Haul nearby, so that I could rent a truck to ferry the furniture and appliances from the house to the truck. I replied that I wasn't aware of a U-Haul anywhere nearby. And as the appliances were upright full sized refrigerators, I didn't think that was going to be doable, and might remove the need for the big truck in the first place, so I told him that I didn't think we could do business. So his guys left. Hope they had a great breakfast. Too bad they didn't have a smaller box van with a lift gate, and too bad the men that showed up had a Can Don't attitude. As no money was exchanged there's no harm, no foul, but I have been hearing about this all day from my wife...oh well, I'll know better next time.

They quoted me a low price, then the dispatcher doubled the night before the move--and tried to squeeze another couple of thousand on move day at 1 a.m. I requested direct delivery with no storage. Instead, my items were held for 9 days, mishandled, and severely damaged--over $10,000 in losses. Furniture was chipped and broken, boxes and bikes went missing (possibly stolen), and customer service was nonexistent. This company operates like a well-practiced scam. If you value your belongings and peace of mind, stay far away from Southern Elite Van Lines. There are other reputable moving companies out there. Shop wisely.

We were told that someone would come to pick him up. No one ever showed up and he ended up sitting out in the hot truck for the remaining hours it took the other movers to get the truck loaded. They finally finished after midnight. They borrowed our moving dolly and never returned it. On delivery day we were told they would be there between 9:00AM and Noon. They showed up after 5:00 PM. Before they unloaded the truck, they wanted their payment that we had agreed to. We were told we could pay them through Zelle which we had done for the first payment the day they loaded the truck. But on delivery we were told that their Zelle account was shut down and they demanded that we pay them with a money order. Since it was after 5:00PM our bank was already closed. They asked us to go to Wal-Mart and get a money order there or they would not unload the truck, and they would leave with our household belongings. We went to Wal-Mart and got the money order they were demanding. By this time, it was after 6:00 PM so, once again it was close to 1:00 AM before they finished. Our furniture looks like it's been through a war zone. Our TV is broken, our computer monitor is broken, just to name a couple of the many things that are broken. Our furniture is scratched and beat up! As we unpack boxes we keep finding more and more things that are broken. It literally looks like they threw our things onto and off of the truck. I would NOT recommend this moving company to anyone. If you decided to go with Southern Elite Van Lines for your move do so at your own risk.
