The hall where our unit is located is consistently kept clean, and, while we do need to replace our Damp Rid bags on a regular basis, we have had no instances of mold. There were two occasions of on-site problems: Once the a/c went out in our building and the other, the entrance/exit gates were not functioning; however, I felt very confident that Sandy had already begun the corrective action and was keeping on top of it to remedy them. I cannot give Cube Smart 5 stars, tho, because of its unexpected rate increases. During the time I have been a renter, they have not been slight increases that one could readily absorb into the budget; rather, they have proven that they can be quite steep. If you are considering renting based on a posted special rate and you'll be a short term renter, that should not impact you, but if you plan to rent on a long term basis, it may be a factor to keep in mind.

At that time I was informed that the customer service quote for extra days (3) at $21.00 was now $34.00 per day. The internet Safe Tow Ins. was $34.00 plus $5.00 Safe Tow which also changed to $54.00. The quoted rental $128.00 which was then changed to $189.00. This is one hell of a way to do business. With a lot of "sorry's" but it's more due to DROP OFF! Not IAW the internet and Customer service (phone). Totally "bait and switch" resulting in over $70.00 charges plus taxes and other fees. I reserved a storage unit that wasn't actually available upon my arrival. This was obviously frustrating and stressful after packing/traveling. Christine and Mike could've easily been justified to blame it on the system, but instead they took ownership of the situation that was out of their control, did a little "Kansas City Shuffle," and made magic happen. The units are very nice and clean. They gave detailed instructions about entering and exiting the property to ensure no one could get past the gate, as they take security seriously as well. All this is to say - this is family run and it shows how much they care about the customers and facility.

Okay not sure what makes a great storage unit business but the reason I gave this place five stars…read moreis for one reason, my last months experience with them. So after years of storing worthless stuff I finally cleaned out my storage unit (left unlocked). I cleaned it out first of Nov and procrastinated about calling and closing the account. So five weeks later i finally called to stop paying for an empty unit. But they had already closed the account. They said, "each month we conduct a monthly inspection of units and if they are empty and unlock, we stop billing you" I was completely surprise, thought for sure they would have continued to charge me until i called and closed the account.
