This LIfetime charges more for membership, yet it's probably the worst one of all in the western suburbs. Starting off, the manager of this place is a real word that rhymes with Rick. Short for Richard. The attitude cascades down through the staff, particularly the she-devils at the reception desk. They make sure to let you know that you are a total inconvenience to them by daring to show up and have them swipe your card. Forget pleasantries, you're lucky if you get anything more than a grunt and dirty look from the staff. Locker rooms are packed. This club is way oversold, and it's constantly a mob of people at all times of the day. I guess it's the super-convenient location that makes this club so popular all the time, but I think it's absurd that you have to wait for equipment at the most expensive Lifetime in the area. Pool- indoor one is always busy and requires a wait. The outdoor one is fine, it's very similar to Warrenville (which is a step up from Orland), but the aquatics staff and lifeguards tend to be overzealous, rude, and work well with their corporate script in hand. The rest of the club is fine, someone else mentioned that the equipment is old and needs to be replaced. I really got a bad vibe from this place, and I decided to downgrade my membership back to Warrenville/Romeoville/Orland. At least the people at those locations are nice. The manager here is seriously a real d-bag, and his craptacular attitude permeates the staff here. They're lucky they are getting 2 stars (mainly for pool and location). read more

They haven't turned things around. I was hoping but no. Joined again after 8 years. all the equipment is shoved close together to make room for a "fitness floor". Oh, and the customer service is not good. I spent my LT bucks with a personal trainer, and then decided to sign up with him with the highest number of sessions. Well, he had to cancel on me twice in a week, which prompted me to ask to cancel my contract and a refund of the first payment. it took a week for someone to finally refund me, despite my calls to the general manager and manager on duty (i talked to 5 people) And Sarah is rude and started laughing during one of my calls. Apparently the GM can't process a refund for PT sessions (never heard of this, I own two small businesses). I'm not impressed. read more

If you're in the greater Naperville/Warrenville area, Lifetime is the best gym around. They've got an army of people cleaning the place 24/7 (and it's also open 24/7), a full indoor and outdoor swimming pool, tons of cardio equipment, great locker rooms, and towel service. If you go there around 6:00 PM on a week day the place gets pretty slammed, but I think that's been the case for every gym I've gone to. I docked a star because it -always- feels like you're being up-sold here, from the moment you first walk in the door. I've been a member of a lot of gyms in my life, and Lifetime seems to take the cake when it comes to the whole "We are running this amazing deal but it's TODAY only!!!" Once you negotiate with the membership advisor, who is about on par with that annoying finance dude you deal with when you buy a car who sells you on all the warranty junk, you run the gauntlet of getting further up-sold by personal trainers, nutritionists, the salon people, day care, you name it. Also, because it always seems like they're about to give you some deal but it's always on the verge of expiring, you never feel like NOW is a good time to buy. If this "killer deal" is today only, what are they doing next week? Surely the gym isn't closing up shop, and surely this won't be the last time they take $X off enrollment... Here's a trick though: Sign up online. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance, and when you log in to see all your insurance stuff there's also a network of things you can save money on as a BCBS subscriber. I assume most other insurance carriers have similar programs. Anyway, through BCBS I was able to sign up for $60 a month, out the door, with no wacky fees of any kind. Then, when you show up the first time, you just say "Yo I signed up online," they take your photo, give you a temporary membership card, and you're in. So, Lifetime is a fabulous gym, I just wish I felt better about the ultra-business-y side of it. I never ever refer friends to this gym because of it. They offer all sorts of incentives, but it feels like you're just leading lambs to the slaughter as everyone tries to jingle as many coins out of their pockets as possible before they're left to... If I can give them zero stars, I would. They did such a awful job just for me to pay them $150. The colors weren't blended at all, my hair was orange. I exactly showed the stylist a picture the way I wanted it to turn out to be nothing similar at all, not even close. The stylist was very unprofessional and rude, I called to complain and I only got an appointment instead of giving my money back. Why would I go back to the place that messed up my hair?? Abhorrent customer service to existing members. Once you have a membership and personal training contract you will not receive any customer service attention, even after multiple requests for such attention. I joined Lifetime Fitness because of the great array of classes offered, because there were indoor/outdoors pools, and the hours. I joined group training and shortly thereafter developed knee problems. I had my account put on a medical hold until the knee issue could be resolved. Despite my request to have a confirmation of the account hold faxed to my home - there was no follow up on Lifetime's behalf. It took multiple phone calls for me to receive even verbal confirmation of my accounts hold. I have left 5 voicemails for the managers of the personal training department to return my call regarding my personal training contract and no one has returned my calls. Also, during the summer months you have to deal with gaggles of screaming children running around, stealing your lawn chairs, and running around soaking your personal items. There needs to be an adult only area on deck. read more

I switch between this location, the Romeoville location, and the Warrenville location and though the Burr Ridge LTF makes you pay higher monthly dues to enter, and it's by far the worst of the 3. Okay, It's not horrible and on bad traffic days for me it just one exit ramp away so I can work out and wait for traffic to die down. A few things I've noticed as compared to the other locations. *you'll see less overweight people and more with obvious eating disorders than the other locations *their machines are MUCH older than the other locations and the set up is not as nice *their parking lot is a pain in the ass *the TVs are not as nice and they don't put CBS on/ I need CBS for their Monday night lineup *they have the worst music video track, EVER! *some of the staff are a little meat-heady and give off the hitting on you vibe when you just want to work out *I mentioned to a staff member that there was a phlegm wad that had been stuck in their drinking fountain for the past 2 weeks and nothing was done to clean it... prob still there * many of their wipe stations are empty and the garbage bins are often full. *the womens locker room has a special spout for filling your water bottles that other locations don't If this is the only location you've been to, I can understand rating it 4 stars but having been to the other locations... that have cheaper monthly fees, I can only give this place a 2. read more

I've been a member at my share of fitness facilities, so I've experienced everything from top notch to the bottom tier of gyms. However, I haven't found something that truly works for me. At the top notch facilities, I was paying $180/a month but having to sit in traffic for 40 min each way in order to workout. That's not exactly conducive to developing a desire to work out. At the more affordable gyms, the place would be packed and I would find myself always waiting for machines, which would end up eating a lot of my time as well. Honestly, I wanted to join a facility that would offer a variety of amenities under one roof at an affordable price. That's where Lifetime came in. During my tour, I was impressed by how huge the facility was and just how many group fitness classes and machines they offered. On top of it, there was an indoor AND outdoor pool, sauna, and hot tub. Not to mention, they have an indoor basketball court, and camp for kids, a cafe with lots of healthy options and a spa. NOT BAD! Once I joined, the novelty of some of the things quickly wore off. I am consistently disappointed by how dirty the women's locker room bathrooms are. The kids who are in summer camp use the facilities and they are always leaving a big mess. Lifetime needs to do a better job of servicing the bathrooms if they can't designate a specific area for the kids to use. Also, this club sucks at recycling. I haven't found a recycling bin that isn't filled with garbage. For a club this size, the number of cans and bottles going into the garbage is cringe worthy and they should really be ashamed of how little they care about this. Lastly, they're so pushy about personal training here. I'm almost 7 months pregnant and the last thing I want is to work out with a personal trainer. I'm happy going to yoga, using the elliptical, free weights and the pool. However, they've tried to sign me up for training sessions that I didn't even authorize! You better believe that I am going to be on my toes anytime some kind of service or my membership is concerned. Lifetime, you can do better. A LOT better. read more

If ever a melting pot of gym types existed, Life Time Fitness would be it. Tho not a member, I finally feel adequately prepared to write a review now based on having visited multiple times. Firstly, the parking lot is almost always packed when I visit, which may or may not be a good thing depending on your point of view. And with it being Burr Ridge, you won't bat an eye seeing a couple of Lambos or Porsches outside. The building's facade is immense, and a bit overwhelming as you walk inside, where you're greeted by the most cheerful of the cheerful. You'll immediately notice that everything is spotless, fresh and immaculate with everything done in marble. Framed posters hang in the hallways advertising everything from motivational imagery to upcoming events. The locker room was equally clean, and tastefully decorated with dark wood lockers and deep tan tile marble tile everywhere. You know this place must've cost a small fortune to build. On a busy Sunday, there's almost nowhere to change, but maybe that's ok. I prefer my gyms a little less crowded. I do also like the little relaxation area with the TV and comfortable seats. A little weird that it's in the locker room, but I still hung out here for awhile while waiting for my wife to text me. The fitness equipment is all upstairs, with tons of treadmills, bikes and every bit of cardio machinery imaginable. The weight equipment, while adequate and geared for both beginners and experienced muscle heads, is tough to get in on due to the crowds. You usually have to wait for something, which I find annoying myself. I like to get in and out as quickly as possible so I can go about my day. The overcrowding seems to be a problem at this location. I'm not sure if the fact that another gym nearby recently closed, or if they just tend to oversell, but I find it irritating. And the staff is seriously trained to put a huge emphasis on people joining. SERIOUS. In fact, when I came in last time with a guest pass and expressed the fact that I wasn't planning to join, just wanted to use the pass, I was instantly dropped like a hot potato, and the friendliness factor also decreased measurably. I'm guessing commission was involved, and if I didn't look like a bonus, they weren't interested. There weren't any classes going on during my visit, which is unfortunate because I like a good cardio class to burn those calories. The schedule is kind of here and there, and despite the overwhelming crowd, you'd think they'd have more classes to accommodate all of these people. Overall, LifeTime is a nice choice for gyms in the area, with its main downfall being the crowds. Maybe there's a recommended "off-time" to go, but whenever I've been there it's seriously packed with the Lululemon/Lucy-wearing buff-bodded fitness junkies and I really just wanna get my sweat on. read more

Poor customer service. Staff was so rude when I tried to check in with a gold membership and I have been going to this specific club for almost six months now. I was told I will have to upgrade to a different membership in order for me to start visiting this club even though I was told I can use any club with my membership. The swimming pool doesn't have non slip tiles. And the swim instruction was poor. More importantly, we sent in a letter to cancel the membership in Feb 2015, but they claim they never received the letter. So they continue to charge our credit card. When I canceled out credit card a month ago, they emailed and called us requesting we update our credit card (so they can continue to charge us every month). They also said failure to update the credit card by date xyz will result in collection procedures against us. We have the recent communication on email so it will be interesting to see how this drags on. The email requesting we update the credit policy or collection procedure will be initiated takes the cake. The audacity!! This is one place I would avoid like the plague read more

Love this gym! Very clean with plenty of machines and classes available. The locker room has all the necessities including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hair dryers, lotion, mouthwash, tampons, etc. Sabrina at the front desk is the nicest person who works there! She remembered mine and my fiancée's names after we were coming for only about a week and asks about me to my fiancé when I fall of the wagon and don't come for a week or two. Running on a treadmill for hrs while 100 other ppl are doing the same is, and always will be foreign and unappealing to me. However, this place really rubs me the wrong way. The couple times a year I decide I wanna work out, I come use my membership here. If I wanted to get hit on by men my dads age, I'd go to Tavern or 101 other places. For being the suburbs, and assuming 84% of the men are married, eck. No thanks. Also...WHY oh WHY are the oldest, droopiest, most unattractive women the first to parade their hairy beavs all over the locker room??? PS - I think I got pregnant from a training session there. This place is a joke for the price. Overcrowded and dirty. Used tissues and paper towels are littered throughout the upstairs area. Machine cup holders are filled with garbage. The machines are not maintained and they are not labeled, so there is no clear process for reporting broken equipment. The machines just feel grimy and look unclean. Probably my biggest gripe is other members bring their children upstairs while they work out. It's not a jungle-gym and for $80/month, I shouldn't have to wait for a machine because a kid is playing on it! 2 positives... the food at the café is great & the outdoor pool is really nice in the summer. The deal breaker - I was given a handful of 7-day guest passes when I joined. My boyfriend and I went in on a Sunday so he could use the guest pass and see if he would like to join. Apparently guest passes can only be used from 9-4 on weekdays (I was never told this and most people have normal jobs during those hours anyways!) They wanted to charge me $25 so he could come in as a guest on Sunday. Are you kidding? That shows their true colors. I will be relocating to a different gym this week. read more

Been a member here for a while now. I'm generally very happy with the club and the facilities, though I think there are some much-needed updates due. I first joined the club in 2006 and was a member for about half a year before I stopped going. I rejoined in September of 2012 and the place hadn't changed at all. So while it was all new and glistening the first time, things looked more aged this time around. Also, I can't figure out why the club is "Platinum", which seems to be an excuse to charge an extra $10/mo with no benefit. I'm led to believe it's simply a premium charge because Burr Ridge is an affluent neighborhood. So, those complaints aside, let's talk about what's good. The staff is awesome, helpful, and friendly. The equipment is generally working very well, and is readily available at the times I'm there. The facilities meet my needs, and the hours (while not 24/7) are pretty darned good. I can give a personal recommendation for Jerry Jasper as a trainer. His one on one training is fantastic, his leadership of the TEAM Weight Loss program is exemplary, and he also runs a very fun and effective Hydro Tone water workout. Honestly, Jerry's the reason I keep going to this club. Also, Molly from the LifeSpa gives fantastic massages. Highly recommended! If you can afford a nice health club and are in the area, you'll probably be very happy with this club. read more

They change the swimming schedule and the trainer of my kids without notice, very hard to communicate wit, even when you get a hold of them they are no helpful. This is a fantastic gym in the suburbs. The staff are very friendly, shout out to, Rex, Tatiana, John, Mo, Sarah, Nikki, Chris, and Grace. Some of the trainers are world class. Not to mention the clientele. I arrived at Lifetime by chance in 2015. Lifetime was hosting an indoor triathlon. I was training routinely for triathlon at the time and was always unsatisfied with pool water temperatures at my other gym, XSport fitness. However, the temperature in Lifetimes pool was 5-10degrees warmer than XSport's which is greatly appreciated in the winter! I ended up winning that event! Note, a warmer pool is not better for racing, but for practice, it's comfortable and greatly appreciated in the winter. Since I joined, Lifetime has added amenities in the locker, depth rant, shavers, hair sprayer, q-tips, etc. The locker rooms are arguably competitive to Midtown. Upstairs this Lifetime location has added a full monkey bar set which is like 23feet long. It's a very fun and appreciated addition for those that perform a lot of pull ups. The rock climbing walls are well built with a pitiful number of auto belays. The pool outside in the summer is the kicker. The music outside is usually deep house/lounge which gives a cool/relaxing vibe. I enjoy this place very much. Clean, professional, great place to work out. Thank you to all the staff and clients that make this venue great. Recommendations: Heated pool deck (University of Chicago has one), block off two pool lanes for everyone that just wants to walk around and be lazy in the pool. read more

I'm laughing at all the bad reviews. Go look up the LifeTime in Boca. The Boca location is only open until 7 pm with less equipment, more expensive and more crowded. The Burr Ridge location is open 21 hours a day!! I promise you if you visited the Boca location you would change your poor review of the Burr Ridge location to a 5 star immediately. This is basically a pretty fancy gym. I really like it but it gets a bit crowded on Saturday and Sunday mornings. They've got a huge facility with loads of machines. They've also got indoor and outdoor pools. They have a fabulous child center with a great staff. They all know my son's name and he just loves it there. I've got a personal trainer there, Claire Robinson and she's managed to keep me working out regularly (no small task!). read more

This review is exclusively for Jordan, who does massages at the Life Spa inside lifetime fitness (you don't need to be a member to use the spa services). I have received a lot of massages, and hers was the best I'd ever had! It was the perfect amount of pressure and she was very skilled at getting all the knots out. One thing I also loved was that she didn't insist on making small talk during the massage. I love to zone out and it was nice to just have the massage done in silence! (I don't mind being friendly, but I think if the customer just wants to relax, that's ok too.) Also, I arrived a bit late, but she still gave me my full hour long massage - that is rare! We just moved to Nashville but if I could use Jordan again I would. I recommend her highly. read more

The sales staff at Lifetime in Burr Ridge are not pushy. We've cycled in and out of memberships as we've moved around the country (regretfully) and the last thing I needed upon our return was a sales person who only cared about numbers, not us. This isn't the case, they actually seemed to care about whether we had a good gym experience in the past and actually work out. When I made it clear that we really should not add the kids right now (budget), they totally backed off and explained their add-on policy. We've been to some gyms where that would have meant 20 minutes more of pitching. The person who we first talked to about rejoining was Yani. We came again and met with Nicko (who consulted with Yani on how best to work with us - we had some misgivings about joining then because we heard a rumor they were about to upgrade). The third time, a month later, we were shy and thought they'd blow us off. They didn't. Yani actually made a joke about it and said he felt like we would become "family" soon. I appreciated that. It's nice to know that they appreciated the fact that not everyone can commit right away and that there is a reality other than their number of sign-ups. I wish they would give other places in the industry some coaching on that. People can tell when you care. read more

Been a member of Lifetime for 4 years (started out in Skokie Club). Transferred to Burr Ridge in September 2010. Big difference between the two clubs...... Burr Ridge is way to crowded....Need to raise prices to get rid of rift raft seems like everyone and anyone is joining.....has become upgraded version of Bally's Total Fitness.....Bally's members are joining... beware!!!!....basketball courts are not availible to use if less than three people.....most court time seems to be dictated by group of people who seem to join (not a league) and kick people of the courts.....locker rooms and bathrooms smell horrible and floors may have fungi since they are not mopped regularly.... read more

Life Time Athletic is a gym I attend regularly. The classes and instructors are top notch, the renovated locker room is beautiful and well-stocked with towels and other essentials, the staff members are awesome (they greet everyone, often by name). Sometimes I will use the facility to work/read. There is also a steam room, hot sauna, pool. Check out the life spa and massage (both of which I have yet to explore, but have heard great things). It is just a really nice gym, totally worth the price, and I recommend considering it for anyone trying to better their lives :) read more

We go here because it is the cleanest gym all around. The indoor and outdoor pool is also great for kids. Class selections are abundant, although they should switch it up and offer some new ones, like hip hop. Kinda tired of the same old Zumba. Terrible. I felt totally schemed. We have four kids and have been looking for a place to swim this summer. We expressed interest in a tour and one of their reps reached out to schedule. Saturday of memorial day weekend, I reached out and said that I'd like to get the tour AND try everything out. I said that, specifically, my kids wanted to try the pool. The response wasn't "we'd have to charge you for that" or "we don't provide free one day trial passes," it was "I'd be happy to arrange your visit today!" and "we just need a 2 hour notice prior to the reservation time." After we agreed on a time, and my family made plans to come, I clarified that we'd get to use the pool. WRONG! 3 hours before we were scheduled to go, they told me that if my family wanted to actually try anything out, we'd have to buy a one-day membership. It is my strong belief that they were hoping I'd get all the way there with four kids ready to swim and THEN break the news that we'd have to pay. Really shameful. I told them that I was going to let everyone know about my terrible experience, but they didn't care. They just want your money. read more
