Oh I just love this gym! It has everything I need/want. 1. Atmosphere: Bright, Clean, Organized and Spacious! The equipment isn't crammed it, and their is tons of variety for a total body workout. The bathrooms, locker area and workout floor is always tidy and love the natural lighting from the big windows. 2. Staff: Friendly, helpful & always smiling! Seems like they enjoy working here, which helps me to enjoy my workout more! I love the class instructors, upbeat and very knowledgable. The Barre class is my personal favorite! 3. Perks: Salon, cafe, pool, climbing wall, hot tub & sauna... Seriously everything you could wish for! We pay a premium for this gym to enjoy a pool, cold plunge, sauna, and steam room. Unfortunately, the place is packed with clicks of kids dropped off all day to hang out. The pool is overrun with kids to the point they spill over into the swim lanes so either they are in my way or a random soccer ball gets slammed into my head while swimming. I watched a guy in the hot tub get his glasses knocked off his face and broken by a kid jumping in despite the 18 or older sign. The lifeguards ignore it all. Adult swim time is extremely limited. Wanted to learn Pilates. Class hours are sparse. I took 3 classes but stopped when I hurt my back - the instructor was disinterested. I get closer coaching at independent studios. The kids use the weight machines to sit and scroll on their phones. Not a lot of working out going on while I'm waiting. I never see anyone clean a machine after they use it so I clean before and after each machine use. The locker room bathroom is pretty gross, staff just can't possibly keep up with the crowds. I'm forced to head back to Planet Fitness where membership costs are reasonable. No pool but I can't use it at Lifetime anyway so I may as well stay at Planet Fitness. Patrons do not wipe off their machines once they are done. There is no one to monitor the wipes and disinfectant sprays. Basketball court is rarely open for basketball. Oh the things you do for convenience. I picked Life Time as my gym because it was close to home. I was lucky enough to find an amazing trainer there as well, Heather Raines. Not only did she listen to me, she truly cared about my well-being. So I signed up for training.... 5 months and counting! Well, one of the huge things that have turned me off from the start was that everyone is a business transaction. It was hard for me to stay but geez this gym is so close. Heather didn't push sales, but that's why I liked her. So when they laid her off because of not making sales, makes me question if the other trainers should be in retail versus coaching individuals. I don't want someone that can push product and sales. I want someone to help me on my life journey of being healthy. Too many times at this gym I have been overcharged. You need to make a change to your account? There is a $10 charge for that? Already charged? Well, you better show proof or you will be charged again. Checked out a spa deal. Nails for $20. Have you ever been to a nail salon that charges you to take off your polish? Well, I was charged an additional $10 to have my nail polish removed. Same thing happened with my facial as well. I understand this is a business, but people matter. I finally decided to cancel my membership. When I cancelled, Michelle asked me if I could get another trainer. Yes, you completely missed my message. Yes, you did exactly what I keep saying. Treating everyone like a number, nothing else. Truly disappointing. read more

The sauna has a huge rusted nail that is exposed because they haven't fixed one of the boards that came off the bench. it's a safety hazard. The yoga classes are very mid so if you're thinking of joining for that don't. Staff is okay but just depends who's working that day. read more

I am visiting Michigan and I had to take a stop at the local Lifetime. I am so glad that I stopped by! Jason lead a fantastic office strength class! This work out was exactly what I needed! The fact that he jumped in to the work out to help us stay motivated and work harder was outstanding! I am a person who loves competition, and Jason definitely held me accountable, and helped me push myself even more! Not only was the class fantastic, but the gym was immaculate! I use the Commerce Township, MI Lifetime and have been to Canton, MI also. I find Lifetime to be easy to use and wonderfully appointed with kind and welcoming people. Female staff keeps the locker room in excellent shape. During the summer, unruly teens girls overwhelm the locker room with loud, rude behavior sans parental supervision. Towels (clean or used) strewn on floors and showers, products wastefully sprayed on walls, (causing a dangerous slippery shower). How I wish parental supervision was "a thing". In spite of this, the staff works hard to overcome this excess work and remediates quickly. The steam is in the female area, but the sauna is co-ed at this facility. There are family locker facilities too. The pools are both indoor and outdoor, both with big slides, hot tubs, plentiful chairs/chaises and towels. The indoor pool has the shallow area that is inches deep for walking into or baby play. Then there is a lovely lap pool with ropes and an afternoon swim team for youth. Kids also have rock climbing, basketball and many activities and events, even private birthday parties can be scheduled. This club has a myriad of options and one can really customize their experience! I am a Silver Sneakers senior member who loves higher impact aerobic dance. In 2023 I was welcomed in the evening and all classes. My option for 2024 is to go at specific times when my preferred classes are not taught or pay extra. I work during the day, but am trying to follow this rule. I appreciate the Arora (senior) social programs and classes offered during the day when I can attend. Arora classes have weights so one can adjust their level by selecting heavier weights and the cardio is at a medium-high level. Though satisfactory for me, I miss the energy of Bollywood and Zumba with a younger crowd and outstanding instructor, Shyam in the evenings. I especially enjoy Warrior Sculpt with Kristine for her multilevel adaptations to all exercises and expertise in Pilates and Ballet. Becky is new to me and her high energy kickboxing is fabulous cardio with weights! My instructors have all been excellent, full of encouragement and quick to correct in a kind way, which I need. Classes use Pilates balls, my choice of weights (or none), bands, weight bars, yoga mats, the Barre, etc. I have not tried the cycling but the Pickleball lessons and play opportunities are comprehensive and fun. There are many yoga options and I attend them sometimes, hot yoga seems to have a large following. There are machines that I enjoy, which are kept in excellent working condition. Of course, there is a large area for traditional weight lifting, mats and pads for heavier dead-type lifting, shelves of kettle balls and a variety of weight options. Sprays, paper towels and wipes are everywhere to clean the things one touches and most people clean equipment well after use. Unfortunately, a few people sit on the machines checking phones, which I wish was not accepted but they are in the minority. Perhaps a bench for senior men to look at phones and gawk? There is personal training to try, no charge, one time, so one uses the machines and weights properly. I will take advantage of this soon. I have seen trainers work and they are knowledgeable. The online athletic and teaching classes are plentiful if one cannot attend the gym. Across from the front desk is a wonderful spa with hair services, mani pedis, massage and esthetic offerings. I have a friend, a young mother who is thrilled that her children can go to child care while she works out, then gets services done conveniently. Childcare area has crafts, yoga and fun activities with a large outdoor jungle gym structure and climbing inside as well. A summer child care program is offered in the summer. Across the desk on the other side is a Cafe' with healthy offerings like smoothies, salads, sandwiches, coffee, etc. There are gyms closer to my home, but Lifetime Commerce is a treasure! read more

I had a brand new eexpensive basketball stolen from the basketball court. I blinked and it was gone. I wouldn't bring anything into this facility that you don't want stolen. Management told me "sorry we don't take responsibility". What a joke! There are cameras in the basketball courts but they said they would not run them. Of note, please see the attached pictures of what this facility has in terms of their basketballs for you to practice with. Again, what a joke! I have been a member at this gym for maybe more than 15 years. I'm 21 years old and I love this place. I've tried Powerhouse just to see if id enjoy the amenities and the cheaper monthly rate but I just ended up only going there twice and got sick of it. Stuck with my membership here and I'm happy. Employees are helpful and very nice. Locker rooms are always cleaned. When I say always I mean there are at least 3 ladies in there daily cleaning that locker room. When I go late at night I get to see the full effect of the employees cleaning the showers and floors like crazy. It's amazing how much they really do. Yes, the towel bin may get full here and there but what do you expect? It's a gym that has a minimum of 50 people in the locker room daily. (Tip: if u ever go to the gym around 10am expect that locker room to be crazy packed with parents getting ready for work!) Machines are always cleaned. If you aren't satisfied for some reason, there are wipes in so many locations to clean the machine yourself. Employees walk around at night and clean up the floor and rack the weights and basically put everything back to where it originally belongs. Personal Trainers here are so nice and friendly. They will give you great tips and they're definitely worth it. Lifetime Bucks are great too! You get free lifetime money and can use it towards personal training, the spa, activities, etc... Overall, I have no idea how anyone can rate this gym below a 5 Star. I love it and I really hope this review helps. Whoever the people are that are leaving the bad reviews - I absolutely disagree with everything they had to say. Give it a try. Its membership price and fee is pricey but it's definitely worth it. Reading the reviews here is a bit deceptive. Though I understand why some may think the establishment is not up to par. I found none of the older complaints to be valid. The locker room is clean and stocked. The pool is ok and the sauna and hot tub areas are clean and exercise equipment is like new. No complaints. However, I found the culture of many gym users to be lacking in basic manners. Towels are routinely tossed on the floor...maybe because their mom's are not around to pick up after them? Grown men can't pick up their dirty towels? Otherwise, it is a great gym to hang out and get a good work out. read more

Members at this gym have very poor etiquette such as: 1. Not wiping down equipment after use. 2. Leaving towels/water bottles on equipment and then walking away to have a cell phone conversation. 3. Man just had to update my 5 star review from seven years ago. How far downhill this club has gone. Used to be open 24/7, used to be immaculately clean, they used to drain and clean their hot tubs every other night. Staff always went out of their way to be friendly and accommodating. They changed their closing time to midnight a year ago. And over the past couple of years, it just doesn't feel clean. Dirty sinks, dirty bathrooms, piles of towels on benches and floors not being attended to. Dirty showers. I haven't seen them clean the hot tubs in years, but maybe they do it after hours. They don't feel clean. But my biggest problem as of these past couple months are employees that are confrontational and downright rude with members. I interviewed to work in one of their departments years ago and there was a large emphasis on employees going out of their way to be helpful to members. I guess those days are long gone. I had a lifeguard that was rude and confrontational to me on the pool deck a couple months back. When the midnight end time was put in place originally it was pretty relaxed. You could stay in the pool until midnight then head to the locker room, take a shower, get changed. Appearantly that changed recently. I had my membership on a medical freeze during the month of August due to a broken ankle and just restarted it. The employees started rushing members at 12:10 in the locker rooms. As I was putting my ankle braces on at 12:20, an employee I believe named Devan put a large speaker, the size of a suitcase, on wheels and with a large handle, right in the locker bay I was in and began BLARING music. I politely asked him to turn it down and he told me to get out, and that I should have been gone by now. I told him they used to be relaxed and members could use the club until midnight, get ready, and not be rushed. He said "it's not that club anymore". This is no way to treat a member of 8 years. I'll be contacting the general manager and corporate. Disgusting. read more

After taking a year and a half off, my family and I decided to give it another shot. The swim lessons have been great and the instructors are fantastic. However, some of the policies are completely ridiculous. For example, there is a sign by the indoor pool that states "ENTIRE POOL RESERVED FOR AGES 12 & OLDER" I pay approximately $160 per month for the family membership with our primary use being the pool. I have three children all under 12 years of age and they cannot use the indoor pool. Even though their swim lessons have been good, their pool policy eliminates my family from using the one area we pay a premium for so we now have to look elsewhere for a membership and swim lessons. read more

Outdoor lap pool only (Commerce)- DISAPPOINTED Overall, I am disappointed with Lifetime Commers outdoor pool. I registered with Lifetime only for the use of the outside pool. I never used anything else but the pool and the dressing/locker room (with sauna, etc). The GOOD: dressing/locker room with showers and sauna- is clean, and most of the time (when I use it) is not crowded. The BAD: (1)the lap pool is not clean enough. Every time when I swam I "collected" long strands of hair on my fingers. Gross, gross, gross! I always wonder why swimming caps are not mandatory! (2)The hours of operation- at the moment (but that is exactly what I have available, duh) are horrendous: noon to 7 PM. Really?!?! Half of this time is when the sun is the most harmful (high UV index). I wonder what is the logic behind choosing such a program. And, particularly for working people, this schedule is not inducing a healthy lifestyle. So the choice is either one cancels the membership or finds something else to exercise on/with- IF they can (for some, swimming is the only exercise they can do). (3) This one is a long-standing complaint (that I heard from other people, too): the cancellation process, where one has to go IN PERSON to a club to cancel the membership, which takes effect only 30 days later. So, the Club is readily available to charge your credit card the day one makes a phone call to start a membership (over the phone. Did I mention that?!), but when it is time to stop the membership, one has to plan for that. But that would be known to anybody that joins fully informed. Right? So, BE INFORMED! In summary: all the bad aspects are human-made and they could be easily remedied. If only there would be a "want". read more

Absolutely worse gym ever been. I had been a lifetime member for over a decade with great experiences prior to going to this gym. It's a glorified day care. Children everywhere, unsupervised that have no respect for other members. You can't even walk the halls without obnoxious kids running into you. There are multiple kids who truly use the gym appropriately, and they seem just as annoyed as the adults. The fire alarms have been going off multiple times a week recently, likely again due to the unsupervised kids, requiring everyone to evacuate. Forget relaxing in the sauna, the kids are there too.. and loud.. There have been multiple complaints by multiple paying members without anything done by staff, for over a year now.. if I'm going to pay ~$75 a month for a gym, I expect what every other lifetimes I've been to across this country offer, which is simply a decent, respectable experience. read more

I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place yet. First enrolled when they were building this location. Sadly after a few years we cancelled due to us wanting to be more conservative and trying cheaper gyms. It was a mistake so we came right back. Now with a kid, we love that the child center is clean and friendly. They have a hands off policy so no diaper changing here. They'll page you or send someone to get you to change your baby's diaper. I love their equiptments and classes. LOVE their Hip hop class. It is the best! Christy knows how to teach! She's attentive and goes with the pace of the class. Tried their Zumba class. FAIL! Didn't really care for how the class was run. If you're a newbie....either learn quickly or look like a fool falling behind. They wait for no one. One bad points...I can't stand the teeny boppers hanging around in the locker room chit chatting and getting in my way. Was I ever that annoying as a child? Geeezzzz!! Let the story begin! First, when i signed up they told me i could take immediate family into the pool. Well i guess people abused the policy, and instead of adjusting it they just pulled the plug. How inconsiderate. It wasnt a good policy to let members bring in first cousins, second cousins, second cousin twice removed... Sure. But put an appropriate policy in place to assure you dont anger your current members. Second, i have a gold membership which allows me to go to ANY lifetime fitness, but this lifetime fitness told me i cant go to other locations. I called Novi location they checked my membership and set it straight. I can in fact go to that location. Thanks for clarifying Novi! Third, i wanted to sign up for some fitness classes.., ah that would be great, but there a literally very few events going on this location. Oh troy, novi, rochester... They're loaded with fitness events, but not this location. Fourth, douche-baggery...thats the one thing this location has. Frankly, every time i talk to someone here im met with elitist resistance. This stand-offish behavior is not acceptable. There is enough people already in the area that think they're hot sh!t, and im not paying to have people talk to me in this way. Ive left messages, none returned. Ive spoke with people at the desk, and im met with attitude. Certainly, not the care and enthusiasm i came in contact with at the other locations. Im NOT saying anyone here was unprofessional, just stand-offish and slight of hand rude. Btw, im not talking about folks at the front desk handling passes for entry, or the cafe. Good points-most equipment has high up time, id say 99%. Equipment available most of the time, not waiting to use. Equipment in great condition too. Bathroom and locker area could be better. It hasnt happened recently, but there were periods when towels weren't stocked, the place was a mess. The swimsuit spinner IS STILL MALFUNCTIONING. Steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and pool always available. Last point, not this locations fault, but the members here are not social. In fact, its weird and distant, almost drone like. Frustrating. Ive tried to reach out to people here, bbuuuut, yeaah not worky. This may be a good point if you have a military objective to work out without conversing with a single stranger. With the new equipment they brought in it makes everything a lot easier in many ways on the weight side of this establishment. It has everything you need to complete your workouts and also includes other features within the gym as well. The price point I don't believe is bad whatsoever considering location, services offered, and equipment is definitely good for the amount of traffic they have each day. I paid 150 for another gym and it was way nicer/cleaner, but the price point was way more then the 75 bucks here. I was definitely biased with the cleanliness, but I shouldn't expect everyone to care about the equipment with respect when they are paying about 80 dollars less per month then what I was previously. It makes sense so I stopped caring after I thought about that. I do recommend to make sure you scrub your hands after being in there in the locker rooms and also as soon as you get home because I did unfortunately receive a skin bacterial infection from here. Although it was OTC treatable, went away within two weeks, and not really a big deal, it still happened to someone who is very aware of the need for cleanliness in environments like this. read more

The lifetime fitness at Commerce Crossing is pretty awesome ! Its got pretty much anything a fitness buff would need - gym, huge cardio section, large weights area, 3 pools (1 outdoor), extremely clean and well maintained locker areas and a very courteous staff ... it also has a couple of basketball and rackuetball courts ... pretty much everything anyone could ask for ! The only gripe I would have is with the fees being a bit on the higher side - this is not to say that the facilites are not worth it but I'd say not a lot of people would have the time to enjoy all that they have to offer .. apart frm that whatever they have, they make sure its the best and beats all other facilities hands down. Even their finance department is not too much of a hassle, the fact that they have a notice period of 1 month's billing post termination should be kept in mind - a lot of people interpret this as a cheap gimmick but a policy is a policy, its anyways specified at the time of your signing the contract. read more

Child care services include "Parent's Night Out", basketball courts, racquetball courts, every conceivable cardio equipment, basic gym and chock full of Nautilus equipment and other types of equipment. As a former employee at LifeTime fitness I would highly recommend finding a different gym. For one membership fees are way overpriced, and are not worth paying for. From the outside looking in it seems like a great place with all of the amenities like the spa, pool, gym, basketball courts, and kids camp, but in reality none of it is worth it. The gym is not well cleaned, and neither is the pool (the pool is also poorly managed). The rest of the facility is overtaken by children and teenagers who get dropped off by the parents and are sent into a free for all. A lot of the members are also quite rude, and disrespectful, and create a chaotic and unsettling atmosphere to the gym in general. So much improvement would be done if the staff was stricter on their members, specifically the children. LifeTime Fitness is less of a gym and fitness center and more of playground for children to take over while their parents are at work. (Especially in the summer!) read more

My favorite place to unwind after a long day. This gym is huge, clean, and has every machine/amenity/service you could ever want out of a health and wellness facility. They have a full service spa and salon, pseudo fast food restaurant that sells healthy food, a large pool, big locker rooms, basketball courts, studios for work-out classes (all which are awesome and at convenient times), and a variety of cardio and weight machines. You can also hire a personal trainer to reach your fitness goals, speak to a nutrition expert, even join a group fitness program to keep you motivated if you work better in groups. They finally updated their equipment and I love their new weights and machines. I also swim and play basketball whenever I have the chance. Please for the love of God have some management step in for the unruly kids! It is ridiculous that you have to work out next to a kid (definitely under 12) in the gym. I'm all for kids being healthy but I pay too much at this gym to have to deal with little kids who don't follow the rules working out next to me. Where is the management stepping in to enforce the rules that I follow with my kids? I'm honestly at my last straw with it and have been wondering how these kids end up here without supervision/parents and noticed at the front desk, the kids are checking in with just a name! No card, no parent, just saying a name and walking in. It's out of hand and let's not forget you have to change in the locker room with under 12 year olds gathered around giggling. Yeah it's big and pretty. it has everything you need or want so no complaints there BUT it is a ZOO! there are kids all over the place and the place is always packed. i like relaxing workouts but this place does not do that for me. i guess the corporate amusement park-like gym is not my thing....maybe it's yours though! read more
