Stay Far away from this unprofessional dump. Lots of typical gym problems. My personal trainer I was using would just forget appointments. The club is run by a bunch of 20 somethings with no understanding of customer service. Whatever, is an ok place to go, or so I thought. But the worst bit, was last week. I came in with my daughter and we used the pool area. When I returned to my locker, everything was stolen, including my car keys. They sent an attendant, who searched every locker 3 times. I was in a wet bathing suit. I had to send my daughter to the store to purchase clothes so I could leave the club. There was no manager present. I had to call the police to have them come and review the footage, which needed the manager. I had to leave my car at the club and report it to the police. It had to be towed to a dealer in order to be rekeyed the next morning. We had to uber back home. The next morning I receive a call that they found all my belongings in a locker. Even though we'd searched every locker on the premises, miraculously it was found. They wouldn't tell me which locker. They had no idea where it could have been. I collected my items from the shop and instead of an apology they discussed my balance due on my account. I said I'll have a conversation with your management before I pay you another dime. Car towed, clothes and keys stolen and then miraculously returned, lost time, my daughter was terrified about the whole affair. I spoke with the Manager, Pierre, who assured me they would take care of this, and this morning I received a reminder about the balance due. I will never do business with your organization again and I will see you in court over this if you press me on the matter. read more

Really here for the pool in the summer. I pointed out some dangerous conditions on treadmills and they could not care less. Trainers and some clients are basically human cholesterol, blocking the main corridors and act put out when you say excuse me. Trainers only care about paying clientel. Front desk and food service personnel are friendly and helpful. Lifeguards and pool maintenance are excellent. There are some machine hogs that place items strewn about several apparatus. One woman was on one machine for over 40 minutes when I stopped counting. Self obsession and douchebaggery can ruin the experience. read more

This facility has rapidly gone down hill, from their showers to the guest policies to the lack of regard for their customer, it's not worth the money. Their shower pressure is so rough, that it feels physically painful under the water, and I've inquired about this, but LifeTime seems to not care about their customer opinion or wellness. The guest policy is ridiculous as well, you can only bring the same person every 2 months, with a million other rules that come with it. Why are there so many technicalities when simply bringing in a guest? This company does not cater to their people, so if you'd like to have your needs as a customer be ignored, be treated with coldness, and subjected to so many rules and technicalities about who/how/when to bring a guest or exchange an item that you own to place as a "hold" to simply rent a pickleball racket, then you've found the place. read more

My girlfriend lives in the area and is a member of this Life Time gym. Since she gets a couple of guest passes every month, I join her for this GTX class on Sundays. It's usually a partner workout and boy does it kick our butts. It typically is a 45 min drive to get here and it is worth every mile. I love this gym and I wish I lived closer. It has all the bells and whistles, PLUS fantastic, welcoming members and staff. It's super clean, the equipment is top notch and the facility and the services are amazing. The trainer who leads this class is a no nonsense guy, who is supportive but firm, and pushes us to compete and complete the workout of the day (WOD). We finish with a smoothie in the cafe and she typically heads to the hot tub. I highly recommend this gym if you live in the area. read more

I used to love this gym. The staff is nice, and I have been a member since 2014, before this location even opened. Since COVID, they have changed their operating hours from 24/7 to 0500-1200. Instead of adding additional benefits, they are taking away key factors. People are paying 170+ for their membership, but I can no longer use the two full courts, as they have changed to only one court. It's always packed with high school kids between 1700-2200, and I can't even go there at that time. I tried going in the morning, but the steam room smells terrible. When I asked about cleaning it, they said the night crew forgot to clean it. That's not my problem; they need to get their house in order. After nine years, I will be canceling my membership. The pressure in the men's room in all the faucets is a joke and I find it unbelievable that nothing is done about it with how many staff members I see going in and out of the locker room. I tried to tell the front desk but I couldn't even a glance in my direction. The gentleman on the phone right next to me when I walked up to tell them about the issue did not even look at me and the other gentleman was more interested in greeting women than anything else and the young lady on the computer was not even aware anybody was around. As much as we pay for our membership, one would think that customer service is very important for lifetime. Life Time Athletic Gym is clean with many amenities. However, as one other poster commented, their customer service is lacking. When you email them about an issue, you do not get a response. Most of the instructors are nice and accommodating. However, we had a nasty experience yesterday with Amy Kolasch who teaches Gluteus Maxout class. This is the 3rd or 4rth time that me and my friend had taken this class but for this particular day we were running late, a minute late that is. We are mothers with multiple kids who are also members of this gym. We have responsibilities at home and we are trying to stay fit and healthy at the same time. Not to mention, we pay over $180 dollars a month to be a member of this "family-friendly" gym. Amy K. proceeds to lecture us in front of the whole class with her microphone saying that if it wasn't for her discussing something she would not let us in. If she had already started her routine, we would not have been lucky enough to take her class. Totally rude and unnecessary! She is not running a boot camp and needs a reality check. This place goes beyond a normal gym this is like a resort. It is very clean. The staff is on top of everything. The management team is extremely involved. The kids academy has so many free classes included in the membership. The people working here genuinely like their jobs. The equipment is top notch and the yoga room is so nice! They have great classes and the have heated yoga. The pools are really well maintained and the locker rooms are accessible to all with nice keyless lockers. I feel like this is more a community like a small gym even though it is a large gym. I highly recommend. This place is amazing. Everything is sleek, modern, clean, well spaced out. All the equipment you could ever need to get a quality workout. I used cardio equipment, a stretch machine, and mats to stretch, so I did an independent workout. The locker rooms are very clean. The shower stalls even have glass doors, fancy! The water pressure in the showers were great, however the water pressure to wash your hands was very low and took a while to wash my hands because the water came out so slow and low pressure. The front desk team was very helpful, inviting and even helped me to look for my misplaced headphones, which I found later at home. They were helpful and concerned. My only issue, and why they don't get a 5 star review, nobody is really wearing masks in the workout area! I kept my mask on, except while on cardio. The first thing I thought was, am I this far in the sticks that they dont believe in masks out here? Am I in no-masker territory? I saw a group of 3 guys going to the basketball court, not wearing masks, and another group of 5, not wearing masks. Groups of people working out together in 2's, 3's and 4's, not wearing masks. I go to the Life Time in Fairfax, and members wear their masks. Even in the stretch area. Granted, if they're doing heavy lifting or cardio, they will lower it, but it is a thing, people wear masks in Fairfax. It seemed pretty laxed in Gainesville, like night and day, it was very noticeable. I wish they were not quite so laxed about the masks here. And I did not see people cleaning as much in the exercise area as in Fairfax, you see them cleaning machines, wiping surfaces. Gainesville seemed very laxed. I wish I could leave a 5 star review. I have been coming here for almost two years now and I've never experienced such rudeness from front desk. I thought it was just me but they're so rude. There have been multiple times where I have been told that I can't enter here when I have had the signature membership since February now. Yesterday I experienced such a rude encounter with this young girl in a brown sweater eating a lollipop while checking in clients. I had let her know my little sister was coming in with me. Beautiful facility! This place is massive. They have an outdoor pool as well with slides. I'm not a member, but I used to be a long time ago. I came here for the Lifespa to get my hair done. Little did I know, you can use the club the same day you are getting services at the lifespa, so I will definitely use the facility my next visit. In addition, if you are getting any services at lifespa, you can drop off your kid (up to 3 hours) at the kids club. Pretty nice perks even when you are not a member. The staff are nice and my hairstylist is the bomb (Darlene). They also do nails, hair extensions, lash extensions, facials, and massages. Full service! I had a Hydrafacial done today by Maria and I already can't wait to return! The facility and room were very clean and comfortable. Social distancing and extra safety precautions were in place and the staff was extremely helpful and kind. Maria, specifically, was an absolute angel and made the experience something I have to publicly applaud and submit a review for. She was so sweet, personable, and incredibly knowledgeable. By far the best gym in the area, clean, spacious, and just all around beautiful. There's really not much to dislike, the only two small issues I have is the hot tub aren't or weren't getting very warm but it seems to be improving. The other would be compared to Ashburn or Reston there isn't as much weight lifting equipment although the quality is fantastic. Also the inclusion of Lifetime Work is awesome! I really enjoyed this gym when it first open even though it was quite busy. It's been at least 6mo and I'm looking into other gyms now that summer is over and I have no use for the outdoor pool amenity. There is always young kids running around, crowding around machines, not using machines properly, not putting equipment back.. the sanitary cloths for wiping down machine are almost always out. The indoor pools are constantly being shut down. It's just not worth the $110 a month. read more

My name is Conner Prosser. I am a former waterpark manager with experience in personal training sales as well. I have been a trainer at LifeTime in Gainesville Virginia for the past two months. I just quit on Monday. My experience over these last two months has been one of the worst work experiences I have been a part of. My first two weeks on the "team", I was only even greeted by a handful of them. I tried the best I could to connect with each one of them, but most of the time, I never got anything back. I have never been in a work environment where you could be sitting right next to someone when nothing is going on and they have zero interest in acknowledging your existence. Another trainer who was hired shortly after me whose name I will leave anonymous, expressed similar concerns. The trainers are cold, unfriendly, awkward, and have zero interest in growing as trainers, only as businessmen. They refuse to discuss better training tactics, and get uncomfortable at the slightest mention of the actual science that changes lives in a field where new science is coming out every day. I made the mistake of discussing science in my 2nd week, apologized for it, and never did it again. The boss believes that a good trainer is directly correlated to how much you sell. I understand that it is a business. However, growing your business and genuinely wanting to help as many people as possible is not a dichotomy. When I am told not to help someone because they can only pay 100 an hour as opposed to 120 an hour for the sole purpose of displaying worth (exactly what I was told) when the business will still make large net profits at 90 an hour, it is not a necessity. It's greed and It's immoral. I also got lectured for spending too much focus on trying to become a better trainer by spending too much time researching for my clients (it was about an hour a day) rather than spending that one hour learning more about selling (I spent most of my time doing that anyway). I had closed 3 contracts and would have sold about 3 more if I hadn't advised those people not to sign up in my last two weeks. This wasn't about me not doing my job. Based on what they were requiring of me, I was doing my job. This was about them wanting more. This was about the boss trying to make as much excess cash as possible at the expense of people who are lost and in desperate need of making a change. I was overweight in 2020. I was disgusted with myself, on the verge of giving up, and would have sold everything I had to a person I believed could change my life. Taking advantage of people like that is not what I signed up to do. I am very young in my training career, but I have a weight loss journey of my own. This job is personal for me. At Life Time in Gainesville Virginia, they merely see a business opportunity when they look at you. There is no motive to help you. They will help you, but it will be a byproduct of their business. All they talked about was sales numbers. Not once did I hear someone brag about the results their client was making. The sessions they offer may give you results as a byproduct... but they are designed to keep your business. Every workout is structured through a pure business lens. There is no interest in science. A session that will keep you coming back for more will be prioritized over a session that will get you optimal results. What I think the boss fails to understand is that successful business is most often a byproduct of helping others. I want to work in an environment where the motive is changing lives as good business ends up following, not where the motive is good business as changing lives end up following. Sadly, at Life Time, the mentality is the latter. In a conversation with the boss, where I tried to express some of my concerns, I was yelled at, cut off, and invalidated. I want to make it clear that there are outliers. Some of the trainers there are terrific. The ones that don't fit any of my previous criticisms include Nick, Jake, Elyse, Isabelle, and Devin. Nick M. in particular spent an accumulation of hours helping me learn the ropes and showed me the utmost amount of kindness anyone could expect. If you do end up going here, ask for Nick as your trainer. Trainers to look out for particularly include Jonathan S., Tyler, Scott C., Josh King, and Taylor Green. I also want to make it clear that these people are not doing anything illegal or breaking any rules. This is solely my opinion based on my personal experience. Overall, it was one of the weirdest, most awkward, and coldest work environments I have ever been a part of. There was zero leadership and zero ambition to improve as trainers outside of the outliers mentioned previously. I would not recommend coming to this gym for training. 1st day as a member - "WORST EXPERIENCE" (Lifetime @ Gainesville, VA) Couple days ago my wife and me decided to sign up and became members of Lifetime. Last Sunday, around 7:30 pm we went to the gym and as a my first day was the "WORSE EXPERIENCE AT THIS GYM". There was NO WATER in the entire facility/building. No water to take a shower, the men bathroom was totally DISGUSTING because there was no water to flush the toilets and it smelled bad. The steam sauna was not working at all, it was dirty with empty bottles of water left in the sauna by previous guests, but apparently nobody comes in clean up this room. After that, I went to the front-desk and spoke with Brad and mentioned about the water. Unfortunately, he could not give me any answer, apparently no Manager(s) were available in this facility on Sundays evenings. Its for that reason, after 45 min without water in the entire building, I decided to go back home. This is totally ridiculous and not acceptable for this gym. I hope someone from Corporate HQ taking care about it. read more

Two things: Their wipes suck. No one monitors the kids using the equipment. Lawsuit just waiting to happen. The wipes: The cheaper gyms have much better cleaning wipes. Is this important? Yes!! We ALL share the equipment. People do not wash their hands or even their legs evidently. Someone comes behind them and use the dirty equipment. The sanitizing wipes at ALL Lifetime gyms are the absolute worst. For $120 a month, they should by far have the best wipes in all gyms in the world. Ridiculous. Obviously we do not mask up while exercising but I observed several people today who spoke with Life Time employees on the first floor away from the exercise floor without their masks on and nothing was said. Beautiful facility with amazing staff. I never have to wait for equipment or machines and the FIRE class is out of this world. The swim classes are great and my children love spending time at the pool to "practice" on their non-swim days. The instructors engage with the kids so well and provide such a positive environment! Contrary to another review, I have seen several of the lifeguards ask parents (my husband included) to be in the water with their children on numerous occasions. It is one of their safety rules and most parents do not have any issues complying. The kids area can get crowded during peak hours but there is always plenty of classes for the kids to choose from to keep the main area from getting overcrowded. Again, the staff in this area are kind, positive and interact well with the kids. Onto the cafe... a wide variety of delicious food and beverages! Keep up the great work Lifetime... and add some more FIRE classes! read more
