I've been going to Life time for over 5 years and have never been treated the way I was treated this pass week .. I was working out in my own personal space and one of the trainers was rude to me and told me to move I think his name was Nick .. I recently enjoyed this Lifetime Fitness, due to a free 7 day pass from a friend, who is a member here. The front desk was friendly and helpful. The equipment was plentiful, if not a bit redundant, which I get it reduces any wait time one my have for a particular piece. The free weight area could be a bit larger than what it is. One think that irked me was the seemingly complete lack of gym etiquette amongst the clientele. By gym etiquette, I'm speaking of such things as returning the weights and wiping down any equipment you use. I can't count the number of times I saw someone leave a giant sweat stain where there head was and just move on to the next piece of equipment. Not even a cursory wipe down with the small towels provided by Lifetime. Mind you, Lifetime provided small towels for that purpose, but I saw no spray bottles containing any disinfectant, thus even with the towels you're just spreading the sweat over a larger area. I would bring a full size towel from the locker room and place that atop of anything I used. It prevented me from laying in their sweat or them in mine. As far as free weights, the clientele just left them wherever they finished with them. No attempt to replace anything. Guess they couldn't be bothered. Now this may sound petty, but it's a pain in the ass to have to send out a search party for a particular weight or damn near trip on something which shouldn't have just been left on the floor in the first damned place. I enjoyed both the steam room, into which they added a minty aroma, so it didn't smell like sweaty feet and ass, and the sauna. The sauna was roomy, well lit, but not very hot beyond 160. Where I normally go the sauna hovers in the 180 range, so this is more something I'm accustomed to and not a knock on Lifetime. There were lockers and showers a plenty and routine maintenance was done in these areas to keep them clean and hygienic. The cafe was a bit pricey...but I did enjoy at least one meal there. Staff was friendly and helpful. Overall, I enjoyed my 5 days of working out at Lifetime Fitness and would consider joining this particular gym if I lived nearby. Though I must admit, the horror stories about them continuing to charge you upon your contract termination gives me pause. But as a 7 day guest, I have no issues with this particular gym and obtained a quality workout each time. read more

The biggest joke. Make you pay for an entire month after you agree to cancel. $100/ month is crazy! Especially a whole month you won't be there to use it. Edit: Your reply's seem ingenuine. They hard sell you to join. expect many, many phone calls once you make contact. Then you have to come in person to quit. Asked me to stand in the corner until someone was avail. Then they charge you for an additional 30 days. Old school tactics you don't see much anymore. As for the gym experience, they kept punching the hole in my ID card wrong so the lockers wouldn't work. Very crowded at lunch time. There are better places, in my opinion, to go. read more

Coming from San Diego, gyms are a dime a dozen and don't offer many amenities. My old gym was cardio equipment, weight room, classes, swimming pool, and they started incorporating pilates (with the machines) the last few months I lived there. However, for $35/month, I was pleased. I loved my old gym. So then I tried Lifetime on a guest pass. I was in love. Although, I can do without the cafe and the salon, I don't care about those things. The cardio equipment was vast, the weights, oh the weights.... A wall lined with deadlift stations!! The other wall lined with squat racks!! What a dream! Free weights galore! So many machines to try. Amazing. The pools look awesome, and the spas. The locker rooms are pristine and fancy, with nice granite floors. I wish I would have tried the dry sauna when I was there. Also, they have hot yoga classes. I've wished for a gym in San Diego that had a normal gym and hot yoga in one, and this is my dream come to life! Finally! I also like that they have towel service. Two complaints, the sanitizing towels on the gym floor are always empty. And the price. It's quite a steep price tag, and I do think it's worth it, but for now, it is more than I expect to pay while I recoup my moving costs. It also would have been nice to just enjoy the week long guest pass and not get calls and emails if I was ready to join. I think they really push membership sales on its employees. read more

Best gym ever. Its more like a country club! Everyone is so supportive and motivating! I never feel scared to ask a question like at other gyms. I don't feel judged also! This gym offers so many different activities! Its amazing. I recommend it to anyone and everyone! I usually don't like gyms but I love lifetime fitness! The many types of classes that you can do with your membership is awesome!! Try it out!! They have two pools and two slides one indoor and one outdoor. Two huge 25person hotubs! A co-ed sauna and then gender saunas and steam rooms in the locker rooms. The steam room with he eucalyptus is to die for!! Reborn!!! Lol The lifecafe is awesome, love the smoothies and the food is great! I always stop for a smoothie after every workout! Two basketball courts and a rockwall section which is awesome!! The cycle room is so nice and the cycle staff is so motivating. I have grown close with many trainers I walk in everyday and always know someone to talk to and see. I could be working out on the treadmill completely alone and all the sudden a trainer comes up and asks if I have any questions or if they can help with anything which is awesome, because the other day I was so unmotivated and Jeff came up to me because he could tell and he worked out with me for FREE and gave me some tips! Which is awesome, if he wouldn't have came up to me I would have left. That's the way a gym should be! He deserves extra credit or something!! The locker rooms have always been as clean as can be! Never out of towels or anything like that! The yoga studio.. So nice!!! When I signed up I got $300 LT bucks to use on anything there I wanted with all the fitness tests etc. What a great thing to have! Active metabolic assessment! All in all I love this place and would never go to another gym. The price may be out of range for some people and its right there on the boarder of out of range for me, but I still go everyday and its worth it. If you want the amazing results with all the benefits of a great club then the price won't be a issue. If you are already a fitness freak then a low cost gym would be great for you, but for people who are getting started this is a awesome place!! read more

I want to add that Cici, who is an employee with Life Time fitness at the Rim is always attentive and helpful in the women's locker room and was a great child care provider within lifetime fitness daycare too (my grandsons always got great care by her) ! For example, I asked her about the steam room and lack of aromatherapy soon there after it was taken care of. Not to mention always being there to unlock my locker when I misplaced the locker key . Pretentious environment. The patrons here feel a certain type of way about themselves. I walked in to do a barbell class and wasn't even greeted by the trainer. I literally had to shout over the music prior to class to ask for help. All the trainer did was ignore me and look at her phone. So I walked out on to the floor, even worse. From the first time I stepped in i got looks like I don't belong or something. I took a spin class there and the lady was late and thatmade excuses about traffic and what not. I get it no biggie but just something to add. I am truest surprised because the location at 281 is absolutely wonderful and is the reason why I haven't cancelled my membership. I did leave the gym a message with my name and phone number regarding my horrible experience but they didn't call me back. Update: 12/4/18 Looks like management has made some changes to the gym. The front desk is helpful and courteous! The vibe of the place is great, the energy and the flow is contagious. I still think it is very small weight room but it will do. I like the training area and other amenities, but my family and I are really hesitating on whether to stay. One of the biggest reasons we joined was the kids' academy for my daughter. My wife and I like to train together and my daughter likes to go there too. However, we're seriously getting tired of complaints of the academy staff. I was already rolling my eyes when they made a big deal that she gave a boy a kiss on the cheek, saying the manager was going to call us. Take into context that she's barely 5. However, today was a step up from that. Suspension was threatened, and the staff member even used the expression "inappropriate touching", for the event of my daughter zipping a younger kid's jacket. Subsequently, I reviewed the parent's handbook they have and didn't see a single policy relevant that she broke. IMO, it's typical that kids that young will touch each other (e.g. tag, play fighting, etc.). If she bullies or "inappropriately touches" (in the common sense interpretation) another kid then, of course, she should be disciplined accordingly, but this just seems supersensitive to me. If this continues, and especially if they try to suspend her, then I'll take my money elsewhere (pocketing a good chunk). read more

This is by far the best gym there is. It is a bit on the expensive side but it has everything you need and more. I take the kick boxing class on Monday's and Saturday's with Scotti,I believe her name is. She is the best instructor there. Just today took the same class with Debbie And it wasn't as good. Life Spa looks pretty darn good as well. Haven't been but will soon try. It's fun for the whole family, and when summer comes the pool gets a bit packed, but what can you expect? read more

I love the amenities and the hours. Great selection of classes and machines as well. I am wary of many of the personal trainers though. Watching them work with clients I see too often incorrect form not being corrected. I have seen a few trainers that were amazing with their clientele though, so be wary. Other than that the only other complaint is people using their cell phones on machines talking so loud that noise cancelling headphones are useless. Amenities, amenities, amenities, this facility has tons of them. You name it dry sauna, steam room, towel service, spa, café, indoor pool, outdoor pool, yoga, basketball, rock climbing, spinning, personal training, salon, free weights, testing and evaluation this place literally has it all. Lifetime literally has something for everybody and is conveniently open 24/7. The downside is the prices are high. With all the amenities provided expect to pay top dollar. However, the sales staff is knowledgeable and family, group, and student rates are available. The personal trainers are knowledgeable, and are a constant presence in the facility. Even when working with other clients they will go out of their way to assist you with any question you may have. The downside is that you will come across some of your typical crowds found at any big gym. You have your fitness fashionistas that work out sporting spandex and sports bras. You have your meatheads that grunt excessively, drop weights, and pose narcissistically. An ample amount of high school kids go to socialize and gaze at themselves in cutoffs. Oh, and of course people are there strictly to pick up on the opposite sex. You will find these typical cliques in any gym, and by no means do they make up the majority. Most patrons are serious about exercising, and just get in and get out. The choice of equipment and exercise options are to many to mention. I only wish they had kettlebells and a platform for Olympic lifting, as I am only interested in working out to increase athletic performance. You get what you pay for at Lifetime. If you are willing to shell over above average dues you will get access to a state of the art all encompassing facility. In my opinion its worth every penny. read more

Bad first impression. Walked in to receive pricing but did not have time to take tour of gym. Told salesperson we were only there to get pricing on facilities. Salesperson scoffed at us because we did not want to take the tour, and when we told him most of the gyms were essentially the same he stated "You might as well go to Planet Fitness." We told him we would, and then we mentioned his pretentious attitude to management. Management was polite but could not sell us on that particular gym after we saw the attitude of the staff. This gym location is literally the worst. They "update" the most random stuff and let you work out on overly used yoga mats that are torn to shreds. But wait it gets better, the hot tubs never work.. they maybe have like one working at a time and for a gym this size it's like you'll be lucky to dip your toe in the water. The lockers are a joke. They closed almost ALL the lockers at the beginning of covid and NEVER reopened them!!! Now with all the new people at the gym good luck getting a locker... that's not the only thing they closed for covid that never opened back up, the work out rooms they have classes in used to be open to everyone when not in session which, as a woman who wants to workout without being bothered by the dudes who have no manners, was the main thing that sold this membership to me so many years ago, but no they're now filled with the equipment the instructors are too lazy to put up and bring back out. The only garbage this gym is good for is taking your money, I've tried to reach out to management MULTIPLE TIMES with no response from anyone.. BUT THEY HAVE NO PROBLEM RAISING RATES FOR ALL THE UPGRADES THEYRE NOT DOING!!! You'll be lucky to not contract a disease from using all the overused equipment that no one wipes down btw, you're better off driving the distance to the 281 location where they actually care. read more

Came in as a guest with a relative. A great gym. There had to be a 100 treadmills and ellipticals. Their weight area was large and had everything I needed. Bands, bosu, medicine balls, free weights and mats. If I lived in this city, I would join this gym. And I heard their monthly fee is affordable. I also saw a few classes going on: core, yoga, weight stuff, etc. The locker room was clean, the gym smelled clean and had lots of TVs. And there is a protein/smoothie station when you walk in! read more

First, I have to say I love this gym! This is my favorite gym ever, and that says a lot because I've been to many gyms. From the parking lot, to the front reception area, to the locker rooms, saunas and pools, to the basketball courts, activity center, and child care center, to the oh-so-awesome workout areas, IT'S SO AMAZING! But I found a devastating discrepancy this morning which was my third time working out here since I arrived in San Antonio three days ago. I decided to order breakfast from the Life Cafe because I remembered how great the food was at my old lifetime fitness. I wish I didn't, because it disappointed me so badly, it tainted my view of the gym, hence the one star demotion. So here's what happened. I stepped up to the counter. Young man nonchalantly greets me. I start to give him my order (strawberry sunrise with PEA protein instead of whey protein. Not hard to understand, right?) Young man stops me and says, "what kind of smoothie did you want again? Really dude? I literally said five words, and you can't remember what I just said?? I repeat my order. He doesn't respond, just keeps tapping on the computer. I say, "did you hear me?" He says "yeah I heard you." He doesn't understand the pea protein request. A girl walks up to the register. They ask the flavor of my protein. Ok... vanilla? I then ask if they understand and the girl says "Yeah vegan protein. We got it." And walks off... I order a plain cheese omelette. (I'm vegetarian) I get back to the hotel, and there lies what looks like a veggie omelette on my plate. I think, it's not what I ordered, but I'll deal with it. The very dry, rubbery, over cooked omelette had BACON in it! Needless to say, my breakfast was freakin ruined. I was so disgusted. So $54 wasted. I won't set foot into that cafe again. Pick better employees for your cafe, please! What if I was allergic to bacon? What if my religion didn't allow me to eat or touch bacon?? Do better! read more

If I could give them a zero I would. We canceled our membership here YEARS ago. We recently discovered they were still taking a fee out of my credit card. This was NOT a month or two, but for YEARS. Now we are having to jump through hoops to get this stopped. We are filing in small claims court and plan to show the fraud they have committed. Been a member over 5 years and still loving it, except when a new year hits and noobies come out. I don't like, and get the new monkey bars, some missing machines, due to some redundant, wasted renovation. Seems like they want everyone cramped in a corner. LIKE the amenities and the convenience of getting my hair done in there, food is really good and tons of healthy options. The complaints about the lockers, there's maybe over a hundred and I've only encountered 2 or 3 broken ones. If you go to the gym every other day, you can see the real flaws and if they are handled timely. If you go to the gym because you're trying it out, then I'm sure all you'll see or want to see are the flaws. read more

Overall fantastic gym. Ive been a member since I moved here in Feb of 2011. I did not give a full 5 stars for two reasons. Reason 1) One of the new female staff members at the front desk, which I am assuming is a summer hire, needs to learn to check members into the gym prior to carrying on a personal conversation with members leaving about what movie she would be watching that weekend. I was a bit astonished that she actually had me wait for a few minutes while she finished her personal conversation. Seriously. You just need to take my card and scan it..no problem if you did that while talking to your friend..I just want to get into the facility I pay for every month as quick as possible without having to wait while you make goggly eyes over a hot dude..not hating on you or anything..just want to get in as quick as possible to get my workout done :/. So half a star taken off. Hoping this is a summer gig for the young chick and staffer wont be there once school begins (wishful thinking). Normally I over look when one bad apple sticks out but this one particular staffer really brought down the high level of expectation the rest of the staff provide. Reason 2) The other half star taken off is due to how crowded the gym can get at certain times. For instance today.. I arrived at the gym with my two toddlers at 6:10pm, Monday evening. Normally gyms can be packed during this time however todays parking lot was insane! Even the back parking lots were normally nobody ever parks, were taken. After driving the parking lot for 5 mins, I decided to skip the gym today and workout at home. If the gyms parking lot is this packed I could only imagine what inside looked like. Now is this a bad thing?? Not really. Obviously the facility is doing their job in retaining customers. Could there be to many classes going on during this time? Or could it just be a high volume time when people visit the gym after work. Cant really fault the gym for that but at same time, felt a bit inconvenienced and disappointed that ample parking was not available. Hence the half star. So those are the negatives. Pretty lame reasons and the ONLY negative items I could find over the last 3 years. (Minus the price but you get what you pay for so cant knock a star off for that) Goes to show you that this gym is actually on top of the game. The gentleman who signed us up, James (forget his last name) has ALWAYS been kind, available and accommodating. this place was ok at times, but for the most part, quite a fail. From all aspects as the cost, cleanliness, staff attitude, staff assistance, other people, access to classes, and so on. It was a gym with tons of bells and whistles, but even with a military discount, I was paying quite a lot for crap really. Most of the classes that are offered, you still have to pay for them. If I'm forking 80 some bucks for a membership, most classes should be free to members...lame Clean? Not sure if the staff really knows this word. I have no idea how many times I went into the locker room and it was trashed. towels that are nasty, soaking wet, dirty just left on benches, counters and floors. Dirty socks, and underwear on the same locations. Bathrooms dirty and out of toilet paper or paper towels. The pool, has all kinds of grime floating on the bottom from Band-Aids to hairballs. Staff, the front desk people actually asked a friend of mine who has 4 kids, if all the kids had the same father!! Another idiot trainer came up to me and said I couldn't workout with my friend who wanted me to help him get into shape because I was stealing his business. Another "Personal Trainer" thought that Shoulder Flexion, which is an anatomical motion that occurs in the glenohumeral joint, was when you Flex your bicep muscles. Sad. Another "trainer suggested that I should be taking some sort of supplements that the gym sells in their café because of an act of normal orthostatic hypotension...lol I did enjoy my time at the gym, just a lot of idiots from the staff and other rude customers, filthy moments, and the cost. I went from loving this gym to absolutely HATING this gym. Their sales associates are nothing but LIARS. My experience with them is far less than unsatisfied. So, basically my friend and I were promised the couples package with the initation fee waived. This is after HOURS of dealing with a particular person. So we were excited about since we are eachother's work out partner. We never got that deal. We were actually screwed out of money. We ended up getting a single package, with a guest pass, but quickly realized there's no benefit for the other. After meeting with the manager, all they can promise were these dumb ass "bucks". Not a membership or anything for the lies and inconvenience. ALSO, no one is ever, EVER ID'd for the member pass, but all of a sudden 1 night I wad ID'd AFTER i had been going for a couple of weeks. And the couple in front of me using a guest pass wete NOT carded. I felt discriminatef against as well. The manager overlook everything we said. He promised to call me back, never did. When I called him i got his vm. They are nothing but a bunch of liars. Never again. The only thing I loved was the personal trainer I am going to miss the work outs. As a fitness professional I tend to be very picky when it comes to my gyms and people that work there. LTF is a great place and I always highly recommend this gym to others. Pros: 1. The facility is top notch. You can not find anything like it in San Antonio. It is always sparkling clean and very well maintained. They are always updating and changing things even before they seems to be out-of-date, broken, or used. 2. The group fitness program is the best in the San Antonio area. This is one of the only gyms in the area that has resisted the Les Mills movement and that makes me happy. Every class is just a little different every time and go and that is very important for your fitness program. This approach will make you a a more fit person. Keep up the great work! 3. Friendliness and Support. They are so warm and welcoming there, they truly care about you and it shows in their actions. Everyone is there to help even if you can't afford the personal training. 4. Their Boot camps and programs. They do well running their programs and they always have great people leading them. 5. The food is great here, a little pricy, but good. If you need to grab something on the go this is a great option. 6.Great family place. They always have something going on involving the whole family. Cons.. 1. A little Hard on the Wallet. This is a high priced gym, high priced personal training, and food. You have to look at the services and facility though and if you use it on a regular basis then it is worth it. 2. Personal Training. They have a VERY HIGH turnover rate with their trainers. I know they have a very high pressure sales environment and that isn't a good thing for some people (myself included.) They are very pushy to get you training and the prices are way to high for some of their trainers who don't even have a degree, which is pretty much an industry standard now. I have decided to edit (yet still include below's) review. My coworker went back after the initial visit last evening. The same manager took her on a tour, was very nice to her and apologised for his demeanor with us. He gave her a two month membership and three one month passes (which the others and I split the cost for the coworker on) and it all evened out to what we were asking for in the first place. I did call Lifetime Corporate, and advised them, this location made ammends. I will see how I am treated this month, and how my coworkers are treated, before I adjust my rating to any better. Horrible, and I am so disappointed. last year the staff was wonderful, I was only in San Antonio a month, and the management worked an agreement where I (while on TDY) could join through my time here, with no application fee and no minimum two month membership. I come in today, and the snotty twelve year old manager (I am sorry may be he was 24) who had no concept of customer service, will not, with four service members WILLING to spend money, make an exception of any kind. What shotty customer service, I called corporate, and should they actually call me back I will consider changing my review, but the fact is, it should never have come to this. When I tried to get this same membership last year, the low level staff gave me the same story, but the manager saw a plus to a good customer relationship and 70 dollars for less than 30 days of use. Good job Lifetime, I am so discouraged from your business, I will tell everyone by word of mouth how sad it has been. Gym is full of @$;; I was curious about pricing and called the gym they where nice but very complicated to the average gym monthly payer the things they presented to me I could write a novel on.I was interested and even called back until I was met with unorganized sales people on the floor trying to take a damn call!after a while I felt like a burden after the phone was passed off even when I said I wanted to be a customer.The sales desk was great until the phone reached the sales cartel I didn't have much to work with in the end I was given a coupon a hand shake and a goodbye. read more

I've turned into quite the gym rat these past two months. Fantastic gym! I am completely obsessed with this place! I workout at least 3-4 times a week (I would totally go everyday if my work scheduled allowed it). I love that it's open 24 hours and it's super convenient for those who work odd hours. I love the classes that they offer my favorites are Total Conditioning and Barbell. They offer such a wide variety of classes there is something for everyone. Literally they have everything! Great cardio machines, TRX, Bosu, Yoga, Pilates, rock climbing, group runs, Insanity, an indoor and outdoor pool and much, much more. Staff is super helpful and friendly. The gym is constantly having events and challenges to get all the members involved. read more

Great gym. They offer a lot of classes but wish they also offer them when it isn't too crowded. Haven't really seen any midday classes. Tons of workout equipment to choose from even when the place is really crowded. Staff - our advisor is a total fail and he gets a 2 star. Doesn't return emails or phone calls. The child are facility is great, even though the list of restrictions and rules goes on and on and on and on..... There is a on-site café, a salon, and a snack bar by the outdoor pool. It feels like a resort at the pool areas. Outdoor hot tub, water slides, music, indoor pool and 2 hot tubs along with a sauna and lap pools. Very nice. The 2 main cons would be the price--the sign up process is exactly like a car dealership. You are assigned a "sales" person. There are no posted prices...whatever you can negotiate is what you get. They'll tell you that they have no room for negotiation, which is not true. If you balk at the price (around $200/mo. for a family of 4), then they will start "finding" discounts for you. "Oh, why didn't you SAY you were former military" and "You've got to tell me that you're a teacher..." It'd be nice if they had a price menu instead of person/family having a different contract/deal. I have not spoken to one other person or family that is a member that pays a similar price...all depends on your salesperson, the month, your negotiation skills, etc. The other thing is the rules and restrictions. Plan to jump through hoops to bring a guest. Forms, signatures, cannot bring the same guest in a 60 day period, etc. At the pool, the rules are endless and make no sense as well. There are 5-6 lifeguards who are on duty at any given time. Every two hours, they take a 15 minute break. There have been FAR too many "accidents" with little kids pooping in the pool and everyone has to get out for 30-40 minutes. If you are playing in the pool with your kids, you cannot throw them, have them dive off your shoulders/hands, they cannot hold you by your arms or shoulders/neck, etc.....just too many rules. There are often birthday parties and groups "renting" the pool area out as well, so get used to overcrowding being a problem. The pool water is quite disgusting as well...I wonder how often it is cleaned? Countless band-aids and clumps of hair floating in the water. Very polluted pool water. "it isn't the first time someone will leave without shoes" is what i was told when I exclaimed I can't go to dinner barefoot outa here!! I was at the pool. My slippers disappeared from the changing room and while I understood that's not in the management's control if someone walked out in them, that response is unacceptable!! read more

The salon at Lifetime has a great staff. Lori is my stylist and she great with cut and color. I like the products they use. I never have to wait when I have an appointment which is nice. They always have water or some refreshment available. They have many services available at a reasonable price. read more

Its really nice gym i have tried different gym but this gym is the best , The only issue is the classes the classes in the middle of the gym with loud music that fits for night clubs music hahahah , thats why i started going at night so i can enjoy my workout and listen to my own music . Its really busy at day time but night time is so quick , enjoyable i get to use the machines without waiting on nobody read more
