Most San Antonio Anytime Fitness locations are mediocre at best. This location, however, is clean, well stocked, and well managed.

The manager is really nice and understanding. Also, it is not as packed as Gold's gym. It's working out pretty well for me

Essentially, I got six…read moremonths and during that time period, Beejay Brooks (my trainer) got me into pretty decent shape from a guy who looks like he's written 1620 Yelp reviews. Give that man a hand! That was some hard ass work. Speaking of work, Beejay had an excellent eye for determining whether you were at peak levels or whether you needed a day with a bit less intensity. He definitely gave a lot of attention to your macros and diet (far more than anyone I've worked with in the past). He's very no nonsense and that's probably not for everyone. If you aren't going to put in the hard work to manage your diet, you will fail and he will let you know it. But if you put in the work, you'd be very hard pressed to find a better trainer in San Antonio (I did work with some of the other trainers at Hasfit and I got to say they were all stellar). Overall, you are going to have to spend some coin (I was at just under $500/month) but when you start seeing the results of that spent money, you aren't going to miss it. You're going to be thankful for the transformative experience as you become fitter and healthier.

Over the course of the trip, living and eating in a hotel, I gained about three pounds of muscle and lost about three percent body fat. As a result, I'm super happy with my experience at the gym and the progress I made in such a short period of time. I think this gym is great for anyone just beginning in the gym to more advanced athletes, as so long you are willing to put in the work. :)

This place is truly life changing! I'm not just saying that because I completely transformed my…read morebody with the help of San Antonio Fit For For Life AND won a CAR in the process (keep reading until the end to hear more about the car)! I'm saying it because it's the BEST fitness program out there and is the best decision that I've made! Here's a little background: I first found out about this program from a close friend. I noticed that she was looking better than ever and asked what her secret was. Clean eating, a positive mindset, and the BEST fitness trainer was her response. My curiosity was peaked so I decided to check this place out for myself. I met the owner/ trainer, Nate Dilworth, who offered me a trial session to see if the program was right for me. Little did I know how much Nate was about to change my life. I began my fitness journey in May 2011 and I'm still going strong. About the program: This program isn't for everyone. When I say that, I really mean it. The trial session wasn't just to see if the program was right for me, it was also to see if I was right for the program. The main things that the owner looks at when accepting new clients are: 1.) A positive mindset and positive attitude. 2.) The true desire to do what it takes to get fit. 3.) A no excuses, only solutions way of thinking. If you can make it through the trial session without giving up, being negative, or coming up with excuse after excuse for not wanting to do the exercises, then you might make the cut. (Yes, they will modify exercises if need be due to a prior injury/surgery.) The owner is very selective, he wants all of his clients to be successful and have a positive workout environment. This program is not a quick fix by any means, It's a lifetime lifestyle change. This is how the program works: They provide a diet plan for you to follow and provide challenging workout sessions. If you follow the diet plan accordingly, you WILL have AMAZING results! Just in the first two weeks alone, the average person loses between 5 and 15 pounds. I lost 14 pounds within the first two weeks. Basically, if you put in the work and follow the diet plan perfectly, you WILL experience an incredible transformation. I must warn you, this is a positive energy only zone. They don't tolerate negative attitudes or negative talk. You must be willing to keep your mindset positive while taking part in the program. You must also hold yourself accountable. I love the program so much that I plan on being a lifetime member! My journey hasn't been easy, I had my setbacks here and there but I overcame them and I'm now looking better than ever. I'm so much happier, healthier, and sexier because of my decision to become a member. The program has truly changed my life for the better! Oh, and for those that are curious about my comment about winning a car, it's absolutely true! I mention this last because the main goal for joining this fitness program should be for your health and not the car..... although it's a pretty sweet added bonus! The additional rewards for getting fit at San Antonio Fit For Life: Every quarter they give out CASH prizes and award one well deserved client a brand new CAR! The winners are based on a points system that are determined by weight loss, accountability, referrals, and team work. If you feel that this program is right for you and you believe that you have what it takes to achieve your best body ever, send them a message either here on Yelp or on their Facebook page to get your transformation journey started.

Tough and effective. You'll be challenged and will sacrifice your old lifestyle for transformation…read more Stick to the plan and impressive weight loss and muscle gain will be the result. Secret sauce: You 'must' be mentally prepared to be, do and live differently.

Today wasn't such a great experience, I had signed up for a class and I got there 1 minute after it had started and it wouldn't let me check in so me and my friend just went inside the class and the instructor said the class was full (but I had signed up and was booked yesterday) then said they don't have any more benches, and that we need to come earlier next time. She didn't sound mean or anything but I had signed up for this class? Anyways no biggie we did the stair steppers and we see people going in 10 minutes after us and we see them grabbing benches when she had told us there was no more! That doesn't take away through from the great child care that they have and amazing front desk staff. I still love this gym & the classes. Side note: if you love to dance try out the 7pm Zumba class! Overall this Gold's location does what it was designed to do- cater to UT Health San Antonio…read morestudents, staff, and affiliates. My only complaint pertains to maintenance of cardio equipment. This location was petitioned for by students of UT Health several years ago. The petition stipulated that future students would buy into the gym's construction by contributing a portion of tuition fees to pay off the gym and assumed that gym patrons would mostly be students and affiliates of the university. If you are an affiliate of UT Health, you will have zero need to complain or compete over parking at this Gold's location because you already have access to campus and facilities parking. This will sound unkind to say, but if you are not an affiliate of UT Health in some fashion, this really is not the Gold's location for you. It won't be the easiest location to travel to and may not have all of the features you desire such as a full day of group class offerings. If you are a steroid injecting competitive body builder that wishes to throw weights around the floor and reserve and entire area of machines for yourself at once, this place is not equipped to meet your needs. Everything from parking, to equipment selection, to hours of operation and class offerings, to locker rooms were designed to cater to the medical student or professional who wishes to maintain a no-frills exercise routine before/after work or during breaks throughout the 24 hour day. The locker rooms are spacious, clean, and exceptionally well stocked making it perfect to squeeze in a workout before getting cleaned up and dressed to work a full day in the hospital or clinic. The facility even has sleeping rooms you may reserve for taking naps. "No-frills workout" is a keyword in my review here, however the gym more than adequately meets the needs for exactly what it was designed to do: make it easy for medical center students and professionals to come get a workout and get back to work. I've been happy to have had gym membership through my affiliation with UT Health, and this gym is considerably better at meeting my needs (enabling me to workout around my schedule at a convenient location) than the student gym did when I was at a 4-year university. My only complaint is that over the course of my 5 year frequenting this location the cardio equipment upstairs seems to have undergone zero maintenance or repair. It has become increasingly bothersome to be preparing for a workout while wondering what the competition is going to be like to access an elliptical that has all of its functions still intact (adjustable resistance, crossramp, working buttons, working TV screen that picks up all channels and working sound, moving handlebars for arm workout). I can live with one machine being broken down while waiting for repair, but it should be a given that all machines are equally well maintained and functioning. It shouldn't be stressful to scramble for a fully functioning machine and as a customer I shouldn't have to purposefully schedule my workouts during off times in order to increase my chances of accessing a well working machine. Some information from management on the cardio machines' maintenance or replacement schedule would be helpful and appreciated.

It's exactly the vibe I look for in a gym: a classic, no bullsh**, weights clangin and bangin, full of people who are putting in genuine hard work. Immediately upon arrival a member helped us locate the owner, Roger, who got us set up with some day passes. That alone blew me away because out here, anyone would have just let us look around lost. I'm getting really bad with names but if she's reading this I want her to know she's so appreciated. Roger was also awesome. He checked in on us once we were settled, chatted with us about what we were doing in San Antonio, and gave us recommendations for surrounding neighborhoods (we were there to check out homes for potentially moving). I always appreciate gym owners who take the time to get to know the people working out with them. It gives you that level of connection you miss out on with commercial gyms. The gym itself is not your fancy commercial gym. It's the same gym it has been the whole time with classic machines, dumbbells, racks, etc. There's plenty of room for a decent amount of people to be there at the same time and still get a great workout in. I'm telling you, if you're in San Antonio, and you want a place where you can put in genuine hard word, go to Joe's. Coming to this gym was hands down one of the best parts of our trip to Texas and I am so excited to go back!
