The facility is definitely an oldie but a goodie. I kind of like that it's a maze, but definitely be sure to leave yourself time to orient yourself if it's your first time. Parking feels tight, but the ramp is extremely convenient and there's always plenty of space. I always love having a covered parking space, especially on hot or snowy days. The classes here are some of my favorite. I really like that the GTX area is separate from the rest of the weight training, but still plenty of room. The upstairs track is also great - haven't taken a class there yet, but it looks like a lot of fun. The locker rooms feel a little smaller, but overall it's not too cramped so just plan accordingly and you're set. read more

For those after a new PR, there is just about anything your resistance training heart could desire, be it free weights, machines, TRX, or personal training. Whether you love being surrounded by others working toward the same goal or prefer to pursue your goals solo, you'll find a place and time for your dream gym session. I have only enjoyed a small sample of what this gym has to offer, but I am so impressed. Everything has been clean and well-stocked every time I have arrived, and I love to treat myself to a nice sauna session after a long day. Friendly and helpful staff is always around, and the app makes it easy to peruse the gym's offerings and book a class. I've been a member for 25+ years. The club is centrally located for our group to use the gym for basketball. Our group regularly provides feedback that the gym floor is dirty. Our request is for the club to sweep the floor every other day or leave a broom and we will sweep it ourselves. This request doesn't add to staff or have any direct cost. Out of all the Lifetimes I have been to, this was my absolute most favorite location. But that's it. When I lost my job due to layoffs last year, I was forced to cancel my membership. There was no apology from the staff. There was no empathy for the situation. They offered me to freeze, which I did but I ended up canceling because money became that difficult. No compassion at all. Fast forward to today and I felt ready to go back. I reached out to their services department and asked them to get the same setup I had. They refused. They told me that prices change and they are unable to honor. I had some good perks and through no fault of mine, I could not keep them. But now that I can come back, they are going to increase my fees to close to $100 over what I was spending to get the same access. The company does NOT care about the health of their customers. The ONLY thing they care about is money. The CEO only cares what is best for him and making the most money to ONLY benefit him. They don't make deals for customers. They don't work out plans that mold to a customers goals. They just don't care. I also will say that if you compare a Lifetime to other "luxury" gyms out there, the other gyms are way nicer. Look at Equinox. Sure that is more expensive, but you are getting the highest quality amenities. You don't get that at lifetime. You get crap hair dryers, empty hygiene items, days where there are no available towels. Some clubs have run down equipment and even the buildings need a lot of help. They are not worth it for how much they charge. They don't care if you are unhappy or you have financial struggles. They have zero problem with just canceling you and showing you the door. I don't recommend Lifetime. They make it seem like it's good but if you really look at the details, Anytime Fitness, Planet Fitness, or other cheaper options will be better than this and have caring staff. If Lifetime thinks they care and can do better, call me and prove it. read more

If you are considering joining **** lifetime gym **** , take this into consideration.... Ever since they were taken over by a private equity firm the "revenue generating" tactics have become extremely aggressive and deceptive. When I joined a few years ago the rate was $100 a month, and this is for one of their original facilities that could definitely use some updating, but I though the rate was fair enough. Also, the sales person said this would lock in my rate. Well, problems from the get go. A few months in I notice I am being billed $120 a month. I go back to them and find out the sales person added their Lifetime magazine to my membership at an additional $20 a month. Nothing ever discussed, certainly nothing I want. That was the first red flag. Then, last year they suddenly increase my rate by 50%, an extra $50 a month. I just bite the bullet. Now, this year they do it again...by another $50, so in just a few years my monthly rate which was supposed to be "locked in" has DOUBLED. So I speak with membership services and play a LOT of telephone tag, apparently they get many complaints about their deceptive practices and just try to ignore it. So I complain to the front desk in person and make sure that other members hear, then, I finally get a call back and speak with a rep who says since they already raised it by $50 last year, he will waive this years additional $50 increase. He also said though that I shouldn't expect this in the future since the company is trying to move everyone to the new joiner rate of $220 a year, whether you joined yesterday or 30 years ago. Its gotten ridiculous, and many of us would just bite the bullet and pay the $220 a month without complaining, but it's the lying and deception that really angers people. They are destroying their brand. Once a real competitor comes to my area I know many people who will jump ship in a second. read more

Our family of 4 have had such a wonderful experience utilizing the kids services, kids camps, swimming lessons, parents night out, kids academy drop in's etc. Shannon has been absolutely amazing in accommodating us with some special needs. She truly has a passion for caring for and working with kids. Give Shannon all the raises! Also Meghan in the life spa has been amazing with my husband and both kids hair cuts! This LTF is not near our home but we were at the Thai Street Food Festival and decided to stop and check it out. It was a hot day, so we took a dip in the pool. This LifeTime consistently shows that the staff know how to run a health club. The Front Desk is always professional, friendly and keep the flow of the members moving. I can't say enough about the cleanliness of this facility compared to its peers. The equipment is always clean and there's never a shortage of people there to help you if there's a question or request for clean up. The newly remodeled locker room looks good and towels are always available. The team that oversees the maintenance and overall cleanliness of the club are obviously pros. The only suggestion I would make is to watch the mens' hot tub, as it tends to get a film along the ledge pretty quick. The LifeCafe has a good variety of fresh foods. I've never had a smoothie there that I didn't like! Overall, a quality club that is well worth the club membership. read more

This is hands down the best gym in all of the twin cities! There are so many options for your fitness needs. They have a track upstairs (indoor) which you don't usually see, they have cardio equipment upstairs and downstairs, steam rooms, saunas, basketball courts, yoga, pilates...the list can go on and on! Their group fitness classes are fantastic! They have some of the best programming you would ever want. No need to go to all the boutique places to get your yoga and cycling needs, they have all those covered at this location! The staff here is so friendly and the place is so clean! This gym has the largest amount of self absorbed staff. The lady that did my hair was agreeable but she cut it way to short and she colored in horribly. She was more interested in going to lunch with her boyfriend than doing my hair correctly. The child care was horrible. Yes it was under renovation, but my son didn't want to go back. That was highly unusual for him. Obnoxious and self absorb management in the child care facility was the driving factor of the staff there. The gym itself was okay. We left when there was renovation going on. I had a hard time working out because of the smell of what I believed to be carpet glue. Some of the equipment was outdated. We had followed Carrie from the Crosstown, Eden Prairie Club out there. We didn't stick around long enough to see if he turned things around. read more

I go to this gym mainly because of the daycare. It is so wonderful to be able to drop off my baby for 2 whole hours and be able to workout. The child center is so large, provided with many toys, slides, basketball court, and a special infant area. They hold my baby if he cries, call me if something is wrong. The staff is so nice and it is so easy to make an appointment. Can't make it? No problem, just call and cancel. No fees. I go to the track area and mostly do functional fitness. They have most of the equipment. I wish there were slam balls and better benches. I also get to shower afterwards which is a pretty big deal as a parent :) read more

It seems like people love to hate this place and while I agree it has its downfalls, I don't see why people hate it. I've been a member at several other gyms and this place (even with all of its cons) still beats them. I'd give it a solid 4 stars for the reasons listed below: Pros: * Convenient location and hours. Also, at the Onyx level you have access to almost all of the other locations in MN and several others in different states. This is HUGE for someone who travels frequently. * Equipment is well maintained and of high quality * Huge variety of activities/equipment and the place is massive * Shampoo and conditioner provided is nicer than the stuff I would buy for myself * Yoga program here is pretty darn good for a non-yoga studio. With the exception of Carol (see Cons for more info), the instructors are some of the best I've had * Salt water pool (if you can get in it, see Cons below) * Friendly staff * The cost is reasonable (~$100) considering all of the amenities Cons: * There are only 3 squat racks and there is almost always someone using it inappropriately (e.g., doing bicep curls or pull-ups) * Guest pass policy is a joke * The open lap swim hours are really inconvenient and borderline ridiculous. I actually drive to the Fridley location to swim because it's so bad here. Also, this is minor and perhaps only legit swimmers will care, but the pool is 22.5yds (not 25yds) which throws off your lap counting when you're trying to swim a set distance * Beware of the yoga instructor, Carol. She spends the majority of the yoga class yapping in a high pitched voice that is not conducive to a relaxing yoga practice From what I understand the cancellation policy requires 30 days notice. I've seen people complain about this but it is pretty standard for gyms. I have had 2 other memberships at 2 different places where this was required. For this reason, I don't count this as a Con. Finally, I won't hold this against Lifetime, but there is an unusually high number of "bros" that go here. Also, a large number of girls in full makeup that refuse break a sweat like this place too (perhaps because of all the "bros"). Like legit they just make duck faces in the mirror while "lifting" 5lb weights. Perhaps it's the location, or perhaps these people exist in all gyms...who knows? read more

We went in with me, my 6 year old, my friend who is a very good swimmer. My friend was so excited to teach he brought a kickboard for my son. The general manager walked up to me before i could get in the pool and said they would not allow instruction in the pool unless it was their instructors. He very kindly told us that we could be done with this lesson but we couldn't do that again. Oh did i mention we are brown skinned and my friend is caucasian. I said we were all members, taking advantage of the facilities. I did not expect them to be liable as we were following rules by being within reach of my child. I was the parent and my friend was a guardian. I later found out from my friend that they detained him and cancelled his membership. What an absolutely disgusting experience. I cancelled membership straightaway and walked out. This was the first time i've been there, it'll definitely be the last. I'll never go to a lifetime again, not even if you paid me. read more

I'm a swimmer. I also need to kind of trick myself into working out. So as I was shopping around for a gym, the photos on here- and on Lifetime's webpage- were super tempting. My brain did its thing and was like, "Look at all of that light! What a crisp, clean pool! It's not a gym, it's a spa, see?! Hahahahaha you won't even notice you're exercising because there's a steam room!" The Lifetime website is intentionally vague on specifics about this pool, while being aggressively stalker-y about getting you to come in for a tour. I got followed around the internet for two days after checking out their website until my curiosity got the best of me and I went to check it out. Turns out: the photos on this very Yelp page aren't of this pool. Those photos are super misleading and legit false advertising. They should be taken down, team! Because this pool is really small! Both in the number of lanes (4?) and the length of the lanes. While I was there for a tour, it was also overrun with children and adults who were just kinda splashing around, chillin. The staffer giving me the tour did say that one lane is always reserved for swimmers, but.... 1/4 isn't a proportion that would regularly work for me. There's a good chance that a) someone else would be using the one lane so I'd always have to share, or b) I'd probably have to wait, or even worse, c) I'd have to ask a strange child or adult to move their playtime elsewhere and I never want to talk to anyone at the gym, ever. The light was also not good. I'm sure the pool itself is clean, but it made the whole room feel a little scuzzy. Nope, nope, nope. read more

This is my favorite LifeTime fitness location out of all of the Twin Cities locations. I've been to all of the Platinum and lower level clubs to compare, and this one is by far the best. The facilities are amazing! There is a hair salon, a massage studio, a small medical clinic where you can even get botox or juvederm, A golf center with a driving range, a tennis center, a pool, basketball courts, racquetball courts, squash courts, a cafe, an athletic store, a kids center, multiple workout studios, locker rooms with dry saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, showers, a child center, etc, etc. The list goes on and on! It's all done in incredibly great craftsmanship and is very luxurious! The group exercise here is PHENOMENAL. The instructors really are the cream of the crop. They are all very good at what they do and make the classes fun and enjoyable for everyone, not just the regulars. New people always feel welcome. Make sure to arrive early though, classes often fill to capacity. Especially the evening ones! They are always planning fun things. I've been to a MIXX class that was live dj'ed instead of popping in a workout disc. The dance jam classes have organized flash mobs that were fun to participate in. It's just really fun and inclusive! The scheduling for the group fitness classes has also been really well though out. You can hit the "Core" class right after work at 5:30, then bounce over to Cardio Kickboxing, and finally stay for dance jam. You get abs, strength, and fun. All back to back! It's really well planned so you can stay and keep having fun and working out, once a single 1 hour class becomes too routine and easy for you! The only thing I don't like about this club location is the Yoga program. All of the instructors are super bent on the "mystical" and "ancient" myths about yoga. Peter especially, he's always talking about how we have 4 invisible spinning wheels of chakra we have to work to receive enlightenment and other stuff like that. About how it's a 5,000 year old healing system and such. He often takes 15 minutes (out of an hour long class) to go on and on about the mystical properties. I'm so tired of hearing it. Stop pimping the class I'm already at and get to teaching already. Especially from a guy who can't even perform the poses (not that I can either, but don't brag about all your knowledge and not be able to do it). He seems to have thrown out his back or have had some injury or something or another every week. Look, here's the thing. I don't want to knock anyone's religious beliefs - but Yoga as it's practiced in gyms and studios throughout the USA is about as old as Bono from U2. Seriously. You can look this up. The Yoga Sutra, the ancient indian text, is a book about meditation. There aren't hundreds of yoga poses. There isn't hot yoga in that text (which by the was copyrighted recently by Bikram - how ancient and mystical is that). There isn't stretching. It's a book on meditation rituals. There are 4 suggested poses to help you remain comfortable during your meditation, but the point of Yoga as it is described in this "ancient" book isn't to stretch or to hold poses, or to build strength. It's to meditate. It's just lists a couple seating positions that can be comfortable for long periods of meditation. That's it. Flash forward to the British occupation of India. You DO KNOW that India was a British colony right? That's why they all speak english and we outsource jobs there. Anyway, with the calisthenics becoming popular in the late 1800's, and early 1900's.... the locals there began to hold sessions of exercises after they did their daily Yogic meditations. They saw the brits doing them and started doing them too. In the 1960's, when dropping acid and backpacking through India was the thing, a bunch of hippies saw this daily routine of meditation followed by exercise happening and brought it back to the states. Unfortunately, the nuance and purpose, as well as the history, was lost in translation. So in short, when you have an instructor telling you all about this ancient mysticism and chakra and hidden wisdom through doing hours of yogic asanas (poses)... you know you are dealing with someone who doesn't know Yoga's roots or has subscribed to some screwed up hippie western teaching style trying to co-op an eastern belief system. Yoga is a branded workout routine, like Jazzercise or P90x. Nothing more. It is copyrighted and distributed with guides to specific moves. It has medical benefits like any other exercise.... but don't go getting all preachy on me. Let's just work out! The only thing I haven't tried yet is the Pilates. It's an extra charge, and I've been getting such a good workout with other stuff they offer, I haven't made my way to that program yet. Overall, this location is highly recommended! read more

Of all of the gyms in Saint Louis Park, this is my favorite. This is also my favorite Lifetime in the Twin Cities. This gym is LARGE. There's almost an excess of equipment, which is not a bad thing. I am usually here during the after-work rush and rarely have trouble getting the equipment that I need. Don't get me wrong-it still gets busy, but people are generally willing to let you work in with them. Compared to any other Lifetime I have been to in the Twin Cities, this one is the cleanest. Not only is it generally well-cleaned but patrons are generally pretty good about reracking weights and dumbbells. I have also had great experiences in the cafe, the salon, and the massage services. If you are in need of a massage to cure nagging back/shoulder pains, Daniel is a wizard. Kerry, the general manager, seems to really care about his customers. He knows many of the regulars by name (including myself) and can often be seen chatting with customers even when he's working out on his own time. read more

This SLP location is hands down the BEST Health club! Every top notch front desk staff greets you with a smile and by name! To get on the perfect workout regimen and really amp up results I would highly recommend a personal trainer consult which every member is able to take advantage of! Personally I've worked with Alec Blenis for almost three years and can't rave about him enough! Then onto the most fun and friendly cafe crew! My everyday protein smoothie lunch buddies-I wouldn't want it any other way! I've recently been exploring more spa/salon services and once again lifetime does not miss a beat! I just had a BEYOND fantastic hair blowout and style last week with Mary-highly recommend her and couldn't have been happier-and I'm super picky! This is an upscale gym that attracts people from Minneapolis to western suburbs. It is a massive gym, with a large parking lot and ramp. On the busy times, the ramp fills up quickly, although I've always found a spot. The inside gym staff at the front desk are always friendly and prompt to check you in. The classes have dedicated, excited instructors that seem to love their job and will give you a great workout for the time of the class. I've almost never seen the gym with a low attendance, it is always packed whenever you go. However, they have enough machines and equipment for all. It's always clean and well maintained. The monthly cost for a couple is high, considering there are lots of gyms out there for a fraction of the cost. read more

I am visiting this gym for a few days this week. My husband travels often here and tried using this gym a couple of times in the past and they gave him hell because of the "status" of the gym. (Our home gym is platinum). Long story short, I had my plano LT GM get in touch with this gym's GM to grant me excess this week. This place is GINORMOUS!! and while they have all sorts of diff amenities such as golf, therapy, sports medicine and other services available, I'm just not feeling this place for the following reasons. -unfriendly staff. Am I just spoiled? I know I'm not on first name basis with the staff here like I am at my home gym, but these folks just don't know how to greet. - big space but confusing. I could barely find the hand towel after searching everywhere in the locker room, vanity, bathroom, and shower area. The only place they had these small sized towels were at the front desk of the main gym area. - one smith machine? Ummm for this size? I know they clock in 5k members a day so this seemed odd. -layout. Seriously, it just looks like an old school YMCA. -split levels? It must be a Minnesota thing... -i couldn't find the alpha squat rack station... maybe they are in another room but this place is so damn hard to navigate through. I didn't bother to look further Overall, I cannot wait to get to my home gym. This place looks like one big old school YMCA that lifetime tried to turn into some what of a luxury gym but the bones of the place, as well as the lay out don't lie. It's DATED. Very dated. Can't believe this is suppose to be a higher level gym than my platinum gym back home. read more

I had been a 15-year member of Life Time Fitness. Not anymore! Life Time used to recognize the win-win of long-term members: (1) they could rely on consistent and steady funds; and (2) in exchange, they could reward those very long-term members by keeping their dues increases more reasonable. It almost became "golden handcuffs"--encouraging me to continue being a member. Why would I leave? In 2014, Life Time had a significant shift in corporate philosophy. Beginning in 2014, each year I have had an unusually large dues increase, well above inflation. After three years now, my dues have increased over 50%! I've tried to talk to them, but staff just gets defensive. Life Time apparently thinks I should be happy with their shift in philosophy, resulting in me paying 1.5 times what I was paying in 2014! Life Time's new priorities are clear: Go for higher profits, whatever that takes. Who cares about member loyalty!?! That's Life Time now. You can have it. Good-bye, Life Time! read more

I worked out here for about three years. There's lots of gym equipment, TVs galore, and space - and they all combine to make a pretty solid gym. This is assuming you can find a parking spot between the hours of 4 to 7 PM when most people go to workout. But yo, unfortunately, I left last year after being insulted by one of the staff members. After my workout one day, I asked an employee how I could go about getting a private workout instructor. He looked me dead in the eye, then looked me up and down and said "you can't afford that". Wow, seriously, how much of an asshole do you have to be to judge my socioeconomic status (especially in gym clothes)? Nonetheless, no person should have to put up with that level of rudeness no matter cash he or she brings home. After being insulted, I said "no seriously, can you please help me?" The staff member then just walked away from me. I left that gym for good, and I have never looked back. There are other places that actually give a damn about you. I can't recommend this place. read more

Corporate robots. My entire family used to be together on one membership plan, but after I turned 21 they kicked me out of the family membership without letting me know. When I came home for the holidays, I was nearly turned away at the door until they figured out why my membership card was no longer valid. I was told that in order to be able to use the gym, I'd need to either purchase a one day pass for $40 or a 7-day pass for $50. I sighed and bought a 7-day pass (which is just a piece of paper with the date of issue on it). It was December 27th, 2012. On January 3rd, 2013, I came back into town from my new year's eve plans and asked if I could still use my 7-day pass. They said absolutely not. It had officially expired on the 2nd. I asked if they could give me a break because of the holiday. They said absolutely not because they weren't closed on New Years Day. When a pass is just a piece of paper signed by somebody working at the front desk, you should be able to be more than just a robot. Unfortunately, nobody behind the desk can tell you any more than what they see on the computer monitor in front of them. It's a racket. I shall miss their sauna. read more

Now that I ended my Lifetime membership, I feel like I can finally review this gym with honesty. If I could, I would give it 2.5 stars. Summary: This is a beautiful facility with great group fitness instructors. However, it is CROWDED, overpriced and elitist. My first encounter with the gym was through a "tour" of the facility. It was the most excruciating sales experience I've had. The employee who showed us around even said that the "type" of people who belong to LA Fitness don't belong at Lifetime. The initial encounter was so discouraging that it almost convinced me NOT to join. (I had gone into Lifetime with every intention to get a membership.) That said, I still joined because of the number of group fitness classes and the space of the gym floor. Pros: - great group fitness instructors and classes - beautiful, clean facility - nice locker rooms (sauna, whirlpool, toiletries, endless towels, etc.) - cafe with yummy food Cons: - very, very crowded gym, both in the classes and on the gym floor - parking is better than it was before there was a ramp, but it still sucks. crowded, chaotic parking lot - not enough locker room space -- during peak hours you sometimes can't find a locker - elitist vibe -- not the most welcoming of places, a lot of tools on the gym floor, etc. - SO sales-y... they will try to push personal training and other additions on you when you sign up - very expensive I would really recommend searching around for another gym before trying this Lifetime. read more

This is the Walmart of gyms in that they offer absolutely everything under the sun: all types of machines, pilates, yoga, Botox injections, golf lessons, microderm abrasion tennis, swimming, haircuts, sandwiches, wifi, hangout spots, clothing, chirocpractic care, etc. But like Walmart, they do none of it especially well. I had the worst massage of my life here because the spa is located beneath one of the group fitness class studios and directly behind the cafe. The walls were literally shaking under the frenetic stomping of the Zumba class upstairs. I asked the massage therapist what the hell was going on and she said that on Saturday morning the spa always shakes like this. They should not schedule massages during group fitness classes then. And once the class was over the noise from the cafe was deafening as pots and pans clanged all around me. I left that massage tense and annoyed. The yoga classes I've taken have been pretty good, but are certainly a dumbed down version of the classes you can take at a dedicated yoga studio. I am fortunate enough to be able to go at off peak times so I don't ever wait for a treadmill or elliptical machine. However, on the rare occasions that I have been there after 5:00 it has been a complete zoo. Once I left because I couldn't find a parking spot. And it bugs me that I have to pay more to go to this Lifetime than the Lifetime in Bloomington that is just as nice, only b/c this one has a bunch of amenities that I never use like a salon, cafe, pro shop, apparel shop, etc. Why not up the price of the hair cuts and smoothies so the people who use those amenities are the ones paying for them? read more

I give Life Time in SLP a 5 first of all for their child care center. I LOVE the staff in there. They are the best. They are excited to see my daughter and all know her by name. It might help that I'm there almost every day, but regardless it's a nice feeling. Any time I have any issue it's resolved. For example, my favorite stair machine seems to always have issues. Finally after calling and having no success I took an out of service sign and posted it. I also posted to social media. I was quickly contacted by a very professional manager who gave me his direct line and email if I ever needed to get through. I love that the locker rooms have lotion, razors, shampoo and conditioner. They also have body wash, but the shampoo seems to larger better so I use that instead. There are always towels. The front staff always welcome me and say bye when I leave. Some now also recognize my daughter and of course I like that. read more

I think this is the best gym I've ever belonged to. It would take forever to list all their amenities, but thought it important to highlight a few: group fitness classes, squash, racquetball, indoor tennis, indoor golf, personal training, spa and salon and a cafe. It's like a fancy resort. MEMBERSHIP: Lifetime clubs are ranked at different levels and you pay accordingly. For this club, it's one of the higher membership levels, so you can use this level club and all lower level clubs with that membership. I ended up getting the highest level membership so that it would include the Uptown Lifepower location since it's in my neighborhood. Normally, it would be super expensive so I would never do that, but if you are under 30, you can get this Onyx membership for young executives. It's $89/month and it includes all the clubs. My work also reimburses partially for the gym, so it was doable on my budget. I don't know what I'm going to do when I turn 30 though... which is not so far away. There was also a joiner's fee of about $70, which is a bummer but I was able to score like $300 worth of free Lifetime bucks when I signed up, so it was well worth it. The membership process was smooth and comfortable, much UNLIKE LA Fitness. FACILITIES: The locker rooms are well stocked, so you don't have to cart so much crap in your gym bag. I do wish they had shampoo/conditioner in the showers though. The cardio/weights floor is big and bright, plus they have additional machines and weights in other locations so unless you're going at peak time, there should be room for you without waiting. All the equipment I've used has been really nice and I'll add to this review after I try out the group fitness programs. It's easy to get lost in this building, so I'd recommend going on a tour so you can orient yourself. TENNIS: Since I joined in October, I've mostly been doing tennis drills with my bonus Lifetime bucks. Unfortch, drills and court time are not included in your membership fee. Most drills cost $20 for 90 minutes, which is actually less than you'd pay for a court fee and you get really good coaching that comes along with it. I figure there are worse ways to spend $20 than on something healthy that I love, so I'll probably keep doing them every so often even after the free money runs out. You can sign up for drills online or at the activities desk and they have a 24-hour cancellation fee. There are also organized leagues for match play. I tried a few of the tennis pros out before I started regularly doing Christin's drill on Tuesdays. I like hers best because I feel like it's a REALLY good workout and it's more about stroke development and breaking bad habits. I also liked Alexandra, but the one drill I had with Teddy just felt like we were thrown together for match play the whole time and not really coached (if I wanted to play a match for 90 minutes, I'd just play one on my own). He was nice though, and maybe some of his other drills are less like that. I know he has one where you're video taped so you can see what you're doing wrong/right. Technology, man. PARKING: Unless you have a flexible work schedule and can go during the day like I do, parking's gonna suck. read more

Despite repeated documented complaints that Lifetime didn't successfully address having men naked in their hot tubs - which is against their own rules and unacceptable in 2016 - it perpetuates at this club. They clearly don't take members legitimate concerns seriously at the club or corporate level. Canceling your membership? Good luck. They're predators. Worst company ever to deal with, which makes sense if you listen to all the rumors about top management. On the awful scale, Lifetime Fitness leads the pack. read more

I joined Lifetime in September & absolutely love it. While it's no Firm (I quit when we moved), it is a helluva lot better than LA Fitness (which I quit after 2 days). THE GOOD: - Locker rooms: They're big & well maintained. No need for a padlock, either, as your membership card activates the locker. - Life Spa: I got one of the best massages of my life here. - Life Cafe: Sometimes I come just to eat. Really good salads, sandwiches & smoothies. - Tennis & Golf: I absolutely love tennis. I love that you can view the availability of courts online. So helpful! Haven't tried the golf simulator yet, but it's on my to-do list. - Staff: So friendly. -Yoga & Pilates: This gym is 1 and done. I was going to a gym, a pilates studio & a yoga studio before joining. With Lifetime, I was able consolidate 3 memberships into 1! THE MEH: - Completely overcrowded to the point where it's ridiculous. I get to every class at least 20-30 minutes early because there are usually people lining up by then. Total Conditioning on Saturday mornings is a great example of way too many people in a room at one time. That's the one thing I miss about the Firm - you sign up in advance for classes. It keeps you accountable & you're comfortable once you're there. I realize you can't do this with 10,000+ members, but I wish there was a capacity limit on classes. I find myself not going to them as much because it's not worth the stress. -The parking lot! Mon-Fri if I can't get there by 5pm I wait to go after 8pm. There are so many accidents waiting to happen! I get stalked on my walk out & have no less than 3 cars fighting for my spot when I leave. read more

I hear that the "Cities" is home to the most healthiest and fittest people. If that's the case, then i gotta make sure I'm staying somewhat aligned to the reputation... so I joined Lifetime. The Saint Louis Park location is near my residence and conveniently located on the same street. I made my way for the first time here in early april and got myself a membership... little did i know that i was going to a resort style gym instead of the stuffy gyms with sweaty people and a long line for the cardio machine. This lifetime fitness location has over 300 fitness equipments, 2 full size basketball courts, an indoor pool, a handful of racket ball courts...an indoor track, separate spinning, yoga and aerobics room. there's plenty of stretching areas, cafe and theres a salon where i can get my hair "did"....and I'm just amazed at the amount of fit people who work out here! motivates me to get my butt in top shape. the locker rooms are always clean and there's always plenty of towels..lotion, soap... paper towels and spray. i love the fact that they have a real blow dryer. i don't have have to stick my head underneath a hand dryer! i come here about 3-4 times a week, and you all should too! read more

I have been anti-gym for as long as I can remember, therefore I was reluctant to try this one out. I wanted some kind of activity to do in the winter, so I weighed my options; I could either A. go for a jog outside in sub zero weather, B. buy a fitness tape with some super spunky instructor, or C. join a gym. This location happens to be my next door neighbor, so I chose option C and went in one afternoon to inquire about prices and membership terms. The sales person was very helpful, of course, it his job to encourage people like myself that it is worth $85 a month for a gym membership. Yes folks it is that expensive, but they do have discounts for some insurance plans and an indoor pool. That was a bonus for me. Their membership is also month to month, so you don't have to sign a contract. If you really want to partake in all they have to offer, there is a tennis court, basketball court, driving range, spa, salon, and who knows maybe even a curling rink in the basement. They offer a variety of classes that are free with the membership. They really have it all. There are usually plenty of machines open, so you don't have to stand around waiting. read more

You really can do it all in your lifetime! This is my everyday gym, and it took me a long time to make the switch away from my beloved core power. But I did it and haven't looked back! This place has a ton of old (maybe still current?) core power teachers- even heated rooms! So I get my yoga fix- along with my swim fix, and my kickboxing fix, and my smoothie fix. I love Sarah the Tuesday swim coach. She taught me what I needed to know to brave the open waters of Lake Nokomis. And the parking isn't all that bad- just bring some patience and your turn signal! read more

Excellent, well-maintained facility with an adequate amount of weights and machines. At this club, there truly is something for everyone. Most staff are very friendly and will get you know you by name if you frequent enough. However, the parking lot is a total circus. A lot of wannabe 1% millennials zoom around like there's no tomorrow, and are ruthless when it comes to finding a spot. Once you get in the club, it's more of a social gathering than an actual gym. Many people loiter around machines and talk, occupying space that could be used by others to workout. A TON of meatheads and musclehead dudes who love to puff up their chest and ego lift, but they are more entertaining than annoying in my opinion. Just about every woman under age 50 wears clothing you would see in a nightclub, hoping to attract attention. Overall, it's a good club, but it has that cliquey feel and is definitely an exclusive community. read more

so... Lifetime Fitness threatened to send me to collections over 10.99 cents. I've been trying to cancel my lifetime membership since February of this year, and my membership is still valid until the end of August hmmmm. I stopped by and paid the bill but will never enter this establishment again. I now put LifeTime fitness right up there with Comast. Eventually, companies will learn that if you make it difficult to cancel the membership and ruin relationships with customers it will come back to bite you in the end. David read more
