The location of this 'Lab' is tucked away a touch from the general flow in the area. and from personal experiences (daughter's and mine), can often be found a little less-active than others in nearby areas (within New Westminster and Burnaby). I arrived at the location about 5 minutes before the Lab's opening time of 8 am, and stood (as #3) in a line outside. The line had grown to double that amount by the time we were first allowed any entrance to check in. Once inside, the initial checking in process was prompt. The waiting time after though, to be actually processed for the lab procedures took some time, but knowing I was third to be taken helped! When my name was called, I was back to the desk, specific data taken, and then was off to the lab area for the procedures -- which proceeded friendly, quickly, and very efficiently! With smooth, and totally painless needle work by the lab tech at my station!! After a short visit to the 'other' place to make a deposit, I was back to daughter waiting for me outside!

It really is a great location, easy access and so central. Parking is always available and even free at the mall, which is a half block away.

Be prepared to to spend at least 90 minutes any time of the day waiting for your turn. There's a coffee shop outside the building, therefore, I went there to kill some time and work on my 'zine. The actual space is cold and uninviting. There are two outlets, therefore, for the long wait there's always someone hogging the plug to charge their phone. The nurses are rushed and impersonal, kinda rude. They don't give you a cookie any more unless you ask. I have issues with blood and faint at every blood test. I fainted of course and when I came to they still didn't offer me a cookie. When I asked for juice and a cookie to get my blood sugar up (I have a blood sugar issue) they looked at me as if I asked them for a million dollars. Not to mention they always have trouble finding a vein. The reason why they get a 3 is 'cause they give results in a reasonable time frame.

We made an appointment for our blood work, thinking that would save us time and hassle, but it only added to their confusion. After being barked at as a welcome when we arrived and mentioned we had an appointment (we were told to "just sit down and someone will call you") And then we waited.... and waited... and waited.... at one point the entire staff disappeared for almost a half hour, by that time we had been waiting for 45 minutes past the scheduled appointment. When a tech finally arrived back at the desk we approached her and asked what was going on. She then began to give us every excuse in the book for their bad service... not enough techs, new computer system... etc etc etc... What should have taken 10 minutes stretched into an hour and half long drama. OMG GET IT TOGETHER... What a mess!

Two back-to-back, appointment-arranged, recent morning visits to this lab for my lady -- I helped…read moreand accompanied her into the lab for each. - first morning - an extended time visit (about an hour), to conduct several procedures. - second morning - a short time in / out to conclude everything. She was well taken care of ... from initial checking in each day, to and through the various tests, and procedures done. And in good spirits when she came back out to the lobby, waved to me, and said "I'm done". .. update -- no, not done quite yet -- her family doctor called and advised that lab tests had revealed an infection present in one of the tests. The lab wanted to run the test again, to confirm ... and it did. A req had been sent by family doctor to pharmacy for an antibiotic to be put on hold, upon receiving the first news -- it was now activated, and I was there to pick it up. All this was done within our Thanksgiving weekend!! A big thanks extended to LifeLabs, family doctor, and pharmacy for their coordinated efforts!!!!

I had to drop off my sample this morning and the person in the middle desk was the most rudest…read moreperson ever. I waited until she was done speaking with another person and I approached and asked where I could leave the sample bag. She practically screamed at me and claimed that she was busy dealing with something else and she yelled to go and stand "back there", she waved her hand and said, "that blue line". I waited patiently and then another aide came and sat at the first desk. She saw that I had a sample bag and asked if she could help me. I asked if I could drop off my sample and she said that she could take it. I felt like saying that her co-worker was very rude, but I refrained. I would suggest that this location should have some kind of drop off box or another system where people can quickly drop off their samples and be on their merry way and not have to get their heads bitten off for asking a legit question. I think that aide #2 in the middle desk needs to have better manners and should get better training dealing with the public cordially and effectively. She simply could have just taken the sample, but instead wanted me to wait in line. Yes, I get you are busy but in these times, a little human compassion/understanding would have gone a long way.

I had a lab requisition to fill and was surprised (and thrilled) to find out that a new LifeLabs…read morelocation was opening in this area of Burnaby. And upon checking the lifeLabs website found out it was to be open today. I headed there early, for its first day of operations. I arrived at the facility as the staff were arriving for their first day working at the facility. And was their first customer to check in!! The facility was shiny new and clean, and the procedures conducted perfectly -- thanks to the staff, I could not have asked for anything more. I was called up to to the desk to check in promptly at 7 am (the business opening time), and was out, and walking back home in a matter of a few minutes. My thanks to LifeLabs for opening this new location in the area, and to the friendly, skilled staff conducting the laboratory procedures.

When I got there 40 minutes later, the wait time was still 25 minutes. 20 minutes after that, the wait was still 21 minutes. 30 minutes after that the wait was still 20 minutes according to the app. The only good thing was that I went afterwards and vented to the tech and she let us wait inside becuase the person that need the shot was a senior. About 20 minutes after that we were done. It's lucky they lifelabs has a monopoly because If I could, I'd use someone else. Total wait time, close to 2 hours. Yuck.

This review is based on my experience. I arrived within the hour of closing and waited about 15 minutes. The receptionist was friendly & polite. The x-ray tech was just doing her job. They're located on the second floor next to Walmart at the Royal City Centre Shopping Centre. The place looks clean but I didn't think they had sanitized the x-ray table prior to me entering the room. There's free parking in the building below. There are other locations mainly in Vancouver area. Unfortunately all locations have different hours of operation which is not stated on their website. You will need to call the location you prefer. They state there are priority bookings available but when I inquired at the New West location, she wasn't able to answer questions. Is there was a charge for a priority booking? When are priority bookings available? She just said 'they have very limited spots' which doesn't clarify matters. Make sure you bring your Care card and call ahead of time to check on wait times.
