The location of this 'Lab' is tucked away a touch from the general flow in the area. and from personal experiences (daughter's and mine), can often be found a little less-active than others in nearby areas (within New Westminster and Burnaby). I arrived at the location about 5 minutes before the Lab's opening time of 8 am, and stood (as #3) in a line outside. The line had grown to double that amount by the time we were first allowed any entrance to check in. Once inside, the initial checking in process was prompt. The waiting time after though, to be actually processed for the lab procedures took some time, but knowing I was third to be taken helped! When my name was called, I was back to the desk, specific data taken, and then was off to the lab area for the procedures -- which proceeded friendly, quickly, and very efficiently! With smooth, and totally painless needle work by the lab tech at my station!! After a short visit to the 'other' place to make a deposit, I was back to daughter waiting for me outside!

This review is based on my experience. I arrived within the hour of closing and waited about 15 minutes. The receptionist was friendly & polite. The x-ray tech was just doing her job. They're located on the second floor next to Walmart at the Royal City Centre Shopping Centre. The place looks clean but I didn't think they had sanitized the x-ray table prior to me entering the room. There's free parking in the building below. There are other locations mainly in Vancouver area. Unfortunately all locations have different hours of operation which is not stated on their website. You will need to call the location you prefer. They state there are priority bookings available but when I inquired at the New West location, she wasn't able to answer questions. Is there was a charge for a priority booking? When are priority bookings available? She just said 'they have very limited spots' which doesn't clarify matters. Make sure you bring your Care card and call ahead of time to check on wait times.

All in I left over an hour after my appointment time, the person doing the draw was okay but they have time management problems here. I'll never come back!

Then this nurse runs away and makes another nurse come over to take my blood sample since the first one didn't actually know how to do it! I've had plenty of blood tests since I'm over 50 but this is the first and last time at this location! (7885 on 6th) Be careful who you get or you'll end up being a human pin-cushion for a nurse who doesn't know how to take blood yet! I thought they practiced in their schooling first? Yes I reported this! The photo of my arm is 6 hours later and I still had blood coming out, it was bruised and still painful! Could you imagine if this nurse did that to a child?!!

The drawback is there is no free parking at the plaza it's located in, unlike the previous place I went to. I was used to popping over to a radiology/imaging center right after getting the referral letter from the doctor with no appointment. So I did that and discovered I do need an appointment if I'm getting other tests besides X-ray. X-ray does not need an appointment. It's walk in. The service from the reception was quite brusque, not very friendly. They kinda barked at you on the process of even how to wait in line. You only wait in line if you have an appointment. Otherwise just take a number and wait for it to be called. Despite the sign, it wasn't clear to most patients. I guess we are used to just checking in first and then wait. The other staff (technicians, radiologist etc) were friendlier and much better in making you feel comfortable and relaxed so you won't feel nervous about getting tests done. You just have to get through the hurdle of the reception.

I really feel that the staff run an efficient, caring and well run office. Bravo to you all!!!! I was originally tried to book an appointment at West Coast Imaging located at Guildford in Surrey, B.C. However, I was put on hold for several minutes, and then an automated voice instructed me to leave a message and a staff person would call me back. No one ever did. Anyway, I usually donate at the Dunsmuir location as it is close to my work and is a static facility, however, I have tried to give at the New Westminster Mobile Clinic which they have roughly every 60 days at the Glenbrook Amenities Centre. The staff/volunteers here are very nice, friendly and good for a few giggles while waiting to go through all the questions. If there is ever a time I can't get to Dunsmuir I will definitely go to this location. You can either set up an appointment (which they prefer for the mobile unit) or walk in! Remember, it's in you to give! Yes I am a cheeseball but it's for such a great cause.

Two back-to-back, appointment-arranged, recent morning visits to this lab for my lady -- I helped…read moreand accompanied her into the lab for each. - first morning - an extended time visit (about an hour), to conduct several procedures. - second morning - a short time in / out to conclude everything. She was well taken care of ... from initial checking in each day, to and through the various tests, and procedures done. And in good spirits when she came back out to the lobby, waved to me, and said "I'm done". .. update -- no, not done quite yet -- her family doctor called and advised that lab tests had revealed an infection present in one of the tests. The lab wanted to run the test again, to confirm ... and it did. A req had been sent by family doctor to pharmacy for an antibiotic to be put on hold, upon receiving the first news -- it was now activated, and I was there to pick it up. All this was done within our Thanksgiving weekend!! A big thanks extended to LifeLabs, family doctor, and pharmacy for their coordinated efforts!!!!

I waited until she was done speaking with another person and I approached and asked where I could leave the sample bag. She practically screamed at me and claimed that she was busy dealing with something else and she yelled to go and stand "back there", she waved her hand and said, "that blue line". I waited patiently and then another aide came and sat at the first desk. She saw that I had a sample bag and asked if she could help me. I asked if I could drop off my sample and she said that she could take it. I felt like saying that her co-worker was very rude, but I refrained. I would suggest that this location should have some kind of drop off box or another system where people can quickly drop off their samples and be on their merry way and not have to get their heads bitten off for asking a legit question. I think that aide #2 in the middle desk needs to have better manners and should get better training dealing with the public cordially and effectively. She simply could have just taken the sample, but instead wanted me to wait in line. Yes, I get you are busy but in these times, a little human compassion/understanding would have gone a long way.
