I want to give a shout to Gary Oba and the crew of two in Lifeline 502 who transported my Uncle from the ER at Whittier Hospital tonight (8/10-11 2018) back to his care facility in La Mirada. My Uncle is tall, 6'5" , and he requires some extra care. They were polite, professional and friendly and immediately put me at ease that were handling him with care. I later learned that one of the young ladies was in training but you could not detect that from his demeanor or hers. At one point I heard him calmly coaching her through a task but that was the only giveaway. I hope I've located the right Lifeline office but if not, please reply so I can correct that. The other young lady managed the handoff with the hospital and all the paperwork with them and later me, and all of even that transaction was smooth and professional. I am a 72-year-old with hearing impairment, and my experience with Lifeline was extremely stressful. I tried several times over many months to cancel my service because I could not use the device. Each time I called, I was transferred to different departments or told someone would call me back, but no one ever did. Even my insurance agent spent nearly half an hour on the phone without getting a resolution. HORRIBLE SERVICE!! They haven't grasped the basic concepts of dispatching and scheduling their ambulance pickups beyond a window of SIX HOURS. That's how long they made my 92-year-old mother wait anxiously in a hospital for a 10-minute ride, making her travel after 10 pm to arrive home, after being told at 3:30 she was being discharged from a hospital after a 10-day stay. The team members were professional and caring, but they work for a company that is not. If anyone is given a choice as to what transport options to use to or from a hospital, choose ANY OTHER COMPANY, it could not possibly take longer, be more unresponsive, or be worse. read more

Their jobs are demanding. Recently, in March, my mom took an ambulance from the hospital to a rehab facility. It was a non-emergency transport. She was treated with great respect by Jessica and Jade. Her ride was short and pleasant. Upon arriving to the facility, they went above and beyond to make sure my mom settled in comfortably. She praised them and wants to thank them again for their wonderful care! They are doing what they love and it shows in how well they treat others. Posting for my cousin, who unfortunately dealt with this unethical company in February 2019. Long story short, Lifeline engages in medical fraud, similar to other American companies. They overcharge for their services, and then try to get as much from insurance companies as possible. They have no ethics and do not care. Once the insurance pays, they will then go after you personally for the debt. His insurance company told us not to pay and that lifeline was taking advantage. My recommendation is to go to church. You guys need some ethics. My cousin will be talking to his attorney. If anyone else who was wronged wants to get in a class action lawsuit against Lifeline, email "theericksonorganization@gmail.com". Terrible company. They transferred me from one hospital to another the night I had a hip reduction. Their ambulance workers were not good. THey pointed out immediately that they could not offer me anything if my hip came out while in transit-- not even an advil. And then they realized half way that they forgot their paperwork at the first hospital and were going to go BACK when I got into an argument with the dispatcher. Keep in mind I was on every drug known to man because of my condition. One of the most painful experiences of my life. Two weeks later I got a ridiculous out of network bill in the mail. I paid half of it and they still sent me to collections. This practice is now illegal in California and they still hurt my credit in 2024. Stay far away from this company. Unbelievable. I am a caregiver for elderly and my client hasn't been able to make it to her doctor appointments for the last two weeks. No blame on the people doing the transporting but on whoever is managing this. Person we call always says there's traffic but when I check on my own maps I see no traffic. They should not be scheduling more trips than they can handle. Each time they were two hours late and so we have had to reschedule the appt. My client cannot walk yet and really needs this services but we'll try to find something else. We had to cancel today again and my client is completely distraught. read more

This company engages in predatory medical billing. Was advised we cannot transport our family member on our own but they're coding the transport as non emergency. If it's non emergency why were we not allowed to transport ourselves? additionally regardless of how many times this company is contacted regarding their billing, they say they'll submit a claim to insurance them they send another bill stating insurance will not cover but when you call insurance they tell you no claim has been submitted. PROS: Um, I guess my mom made it to her destination CONS: 1. EMTs input incorrect "codes" so insurance won't cover the transport 2. My mom can't walk, yet EMTs "coded" her as ambulatory 3. Customer service accuses you of "fraud" to recode transport correctly 4. Desiree can't fathom that their EMTs made a mistake with "coding" 5. Desiree is especially obtuse, rude and unsympathetic to an issue 6. Desiree can't think outside the box to help resolve an issue 7. Desiree will hang up on you and talk over you without listening 8. Desiree won't get a manager on the phone for additional help 9. Desire asks for an email so the manager can respond via email - LOL 9. Literally the same day I posted my first review, their insurance agency suggested that instead of them taking zero responsibility for the accident that it be 50 50. Um .. how does the word NO sound? I posted photographic evidence that their ambulance was NOT running lights or sirens when they sideswiped me and suddenly they suggest 50 50. How about being a reputable and honest company and simply accepting full liability for the accident, or is your integrity sold so cheaply that you'll refuse to do so? read more

If over billing and sending an 85 year old man with terminal cancer after having a full hip replacement surgery to collections is your idea of what an ambulance company should stand for, then Lifeline is your best option. My father was being transported from the hospital to his rehabilitation facility after a total hip replacement surgery that happened after a fall and Los Alamitos hospital called Lifeline for transport. We were never informed that the ambulance company was out of network for my dad's insurance, neither by Lifeline nor by the hospital which should have checked eligibility since this was a non emergency transport. The transporters were not very careful with my dad upon putting him on the gurney and seemed to not know how to approach moving him. Their attitudes were not welcoming, empathetic, or anything you would want in someone transporting your elderly injured parent. After billing the insurance company far too much money for a 15 minute ride, and after being unsatisfied with what they got from Blue Cross, they billed my dad almost $900. An 85 year old elderly man with terminal cancer that has no money to be able to pay. I called and discussed this with Lifeline and told them that we can not pay, that we should have known they were out of network, and that now that we are in this situation, could they please just accept what they have from the insurance company and let it go. I got a collections letter and guess what, we still do not have the capacity to pay. This is a bigger issue with private ambulance companies being unethical in their practices. They charge ridiculous amounts of money and don't even care enough about the patient to let them understand what their financial responsibilities will be. Lifeline did not discuss a payment plan option, they did not patiently wait for our rebuttal claim to our insurance company to go through, they did not wait for our application to the Department of Managed Healthcare to go through and get results... They simply just don't care. Do you want your family members and loved ones to be treated to the same standards as they treated my father? Do you want to drown in medical debt because of lack of information and due diligence? Nobody does. I will continue to take action about this issue until I have no further way to do so, but not everyone has a daughter that works in healthcare and has the ability to advocate for their loved ones. imagine what Lifeline is doing to even more vulnerable people than my father... I was being transferred from a hospital to a rehabilitation center. Approximately 13 miles. This was after a triple bypass, this was not an emergency but a standard transfer. I waited 5.5 hours after being checked out of the hospital. No pain meds no food. The ride was uncomfortable. The driver and attendants ignored my complaints of nausea and need for fresh air. To make matters worse they sent me and an egregious bill and even after my insurance (which is excellent) paid half of it they demanded pay and reported me to collections. This is a terrible company and I would never recommend them make sure even if you are on your dying hospital bed, to ask which ambulance company you are being serviced through and if they accept your insurance evidently You, the client has no say who drives you anywhere.... be aware! read more

We had to use Lifeline's services as my father needed to be transported from one hospital to another and unfortunately this is the one that the social worker chose. Once seated in the automobile and en route, my mother asked the driver if he was going to use the sirens and he said no. The patient they were transporting was extremely ill, in critical condition and had many different kinds of lines and machines attached as he was in a very bad state. Seeing that the patient had every kind of machine imaginable attached, getting him to the nearest hospital in a timely matter is of utmost importance. There were a few nurses and paramedics who came along for the transport. Some of them were from the hospital and some were from this company. None of them suggested to the driver to use the siren despite the dire condition the patient was in. I know it can be numbing doing the same kind of work all the time. But please put yourself in other people's shoes. Moving along, half way on the way to the hospital, the patient went into cardiac arrest. This is serious business because the patient was suffering from multiple problems at the time and had previously coded not too long ago. A patient in this state should be given the best care possible which nobody on the team could think of doing that. The transport driver was even given a hint while nobody was trying to be a backseat driver. All in all, it is always better to be safe rather than sorry. Little details count and could prove to be less traumatic and stressful for everyone. read more

My experience was horrible. A guy named Larry kept calling me for an unpaid bill. However, I never received a bill. This went on for over two months. I asked repeatedly for him to send me a bill via email. All he wanted to do is get my credit card number. He said they aren't allowed to email an invoice - what century is he in. I told him without an invoice for my records, that I wouldn't pay. Funniest thing, he discovered that he could email invoice. I can say more, but I promised myself to keep my list of negatives to a minimum. Two months of B.S. and making threatening collections calls and it was easily resolved with a simple email Totally dissatisfied. read more

Lifeline Ambulance, another part of the problem of the systemic health insurance nightmare. Apparently a non-emergent "Uber" ride, 14mi from one in-network hospital to another in-network hospital costs $2518.97. All because hospital #1 admitted my daughter and then realized that they didn't have a bed available. #usmedicalcare! Thank goodness they didn't need to take her blood pressure or give her a bandaid, I shudder to think of what that would cost. If I could give a negative star I would ! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.. they are high way robbers ! the nursing home my father was in hired this company for a 7 block trip to Cedars Sinai.. 7 BLOCKS (.8 miles) they charged $1,489.00 for the trip. They actually charged $35.50 in gas per trip.. again to go 7 blocks ! When I called to see why they charged $1489 when the other two companies used charged $601.25 and another $571 they no valid reason other than that they basically could. read more

Absolutely over priced. My father in law was transported from Alamitos West to Los Alamitos to Los Alamitos Medical Center (only across the street) on 7/3 via Lynch EMS. The cost to us was approximately $98. The transfer from the hospital back to rehab on 7/10 via LifeLine was approximately $1787!!! Same distance and my father in law was in much better condition! This company clear takes advantage of patients. I can't believe that Los Alamitos Medical Center uses them for patient transport! Extremely inflated prices & threatening collection practices! They charged a family member over $2000 for a non-emergency transport that was approximately 7-9 blocks! Someone needs to regulate prices for ambulance service, especially this company. A different company provided Emergency transport & they charged over $1300 (also ridiculous for a short trip). How could non-ER cost nearly $700 more! Patients should have a choice especially when it comes to non-emergency transport. I hope a regulatory agency investigates this company's practices. Their collection practices & the threats from the people calling made me not trust providing medicare billing info to them. Right now I'm very concerned about them having this info. They kept insisting on my email address & making threats to keep calling me, when I called them to provide the insurance info I had. There was no reason for this behavior, I was trying to help them get paid. I will never willingly use them. Lifeline Ambulance is outrageous expensive! An irresponsible social worker at a Long Term Acute Care center ordered Lifeline to take me to a regular doctor's appointment. Lifeline's fee was $4500 for an 18 miles, 30 minutes, ride. Because Lifeline was out of my insurance network, Lifeline went after me for the remaining balance of $4100. They were relentlessly calling and threading me every day! They even called my son and sister! DO NOT USE LIFELINE AMBULANCE!!! read more
