It was me and Andrea G's second time at one of the events that Bayside Village BID organized. This…read moretime around the streets of Bell Blvd from 39th to 41st Ave was blocked off due to their 4th Annual Bell Blvd Sunday Stroll. We met up with my bestie Diana G (sister of Andrea G) and her precious kiddies for a Sunday Funday. There were inflatable slides, bungee, shooting hoops, ring toss, and many more. The longest line was for these incredible balloons from a real estate company and I saw a kid holding a rainbow one. Live performances especially the first band playing covers of Goo Goo Dolls which was a sick performance *applause* I am always scouting out new bands to promote on my YouTube channel https://youtu.be/W2tZJp_T87M. There were also dance performances and the kids were super duper talented. Many awesome restaurants on Bell especially Nippon Cha! I grabbed brunch with my favorite sisters and the precious kiddies. Definitely ramen season as the temperature drastically changed from Friday to over the weekend. Another yummy donut pop up from Black Label Donuts (flavors included Matcha Crème Brulee, Raspberry Lychee, and Funky Monkey) at Nippon Cha as they were serving their yummy Matcha drinks! #representbayside Best borough Queens yo!

Basic problem with the Bid is they really only do one thing for local businesses, with a $250,000…read moreannual budget. We are getting the same substandard promotions from when the bid had a $80,000 budget. Where are they spending the money? They spend over $80,000 per year hiring people to clean our sidewalks of garbage when it is the store owners job to do it themselves by law. Will not allow NY sanitation issue violations to those who do not clean in front of their own businesses. Wouldn't you think we could use that money to pay for advertising Bayside and the diverse community we live in??? No money for advertising they believe that newspapers should supply free ads...We also pay over $65,000 per year for management to run the bid. Between these two items it cost local businesses over 60% of the total budget. INSANE! Bayside is not growing our diverse communities shop elsewhere!

APEC is a true treasure to the local community. A place that welcomes all no matter your age or…read morebackground, the center acts like a third space! Operating on donations and community funds to share love and respect for nature to all. I've been coming here since I was 10, when they had the other space, and I'm happy to see they have renovated! All of the animals are very cared for. For those who say the animals are confined to a small space, I want to let you know that they aren't. They're taken out both in the mornings before opening, and in the afternoon after they're closed to the public. The birds are not let out during typical business hours for the most part because of the risk of them flying away hence the locked entrance which requires you to ring a doorbell. This is only for their safety, but be assured that they are happy! If they weren't they would definitely show signs of distress like plucking or other nervous behaviors. You can go in and get a free tour, get shown animals and even have the opportunity to pet some of the guinea pigs for example. I believe this is such a vital part of the Queens community. The staff take good care of the surrounding trails, and even have food drives and clothes drives for the community. Wonderful place to visit always.

Beautiful park!…read more Trails are pretty clearly marked! Bathrooms are cleaned and I saw a guy appearing to be sanitizing the women's room. During warmer weather, you will see everything from tai-chi classes, yoga, zumba, volleyball, soccer, bird watching, Frisbee etc. This is a great meeting location for all that love the outdoors and being active. The NYC Parks Department usually list all the activities on their website. Also a good spot for barbecuing or picnicking. The grills and tables are provided.

My SCRIE took almost 6 months into 2024 to get renewed and the handling of my efforts to get a rent redetermination have so far been a complete failure. They do not always keep appointments so call before you go there. I had an appointment for help with my SNAP at the Pomonack Senior center on Kissena Blvd and the guy, Francisco, didn't even show up for it.

They have a number of locations throughout the borough, but this Forest Hills location is among their busiest. It's been under some much needed renovation as of this summer and will hopefully be an even better facility for the community. While their mission to help enrich the greater Queens community has always been at the forefront, their work during the pandemic has been especially noble: they provided and partnered with local businesses to help distribute meals to those in need, provided aid to the homeless, and services for new immigrants. There's a lot more that they've done that I've missed, but that's just some of the ways they're doing good for all. I used to think this was like a local YMCA or children's center, but they really help individuals of all ages. In addition to childcare, they also have programs for teens and adults, and programming to help empower folks in the workforce. In addition, they have programs for after-school activities, LGBTQ youth, free English classes, and venue space for those who are looking to host for special occasions. They're always looking for new volunteers and for families / individuals in need of aid / assistance.
