It is a very very very small store that is packed with a lot of different things. If you are especially looking for small kitchen appliances, they had a lot of them. I shop for cds, dvds, and blue-rays, which this store doesn't carry due to limited space. I saw a few books for sale, but I didn't see a bookshelf full of books for sale. Therefore, for me, the store is not on my list of stores to visit regularly. However, if you don't shop for what I shop for, this store could be for you. The women who worked there were very nice and helpful. Parking there is a bit difficult, but you can find parking, even if you have to pay for a parking meter. There is no parking lot. The store is located a few blocks off Bell Boulevard. The store supports animal charities, which is a great cause. read more

I've been coming Worthy Paws for over 28 yrs along with my family and friends. I have never walked out empty handed! So many treasures to look over from floor to ceiling from used to new items. I was able to help furnish my son and his house mates college kitchen and found some cute earrings for myself along the way! Best thing is the money goes to a charity for cats and dogs! read more

I have donated many items to this store over the course of about 16 years. (I'm big on both animal rescue and spring cleaning). They often take what I have to offer but sometimes they don't. Two of the ladies there can be very unpleasant but; hey, I do it for the animals. Lots of vintage plates, tchotchkes, knick-knacks and such. read more

Great place! This hidden gem is filled with all sorts of things. The proceeds of the sales go to Animal Welfare. I love thrift shopping, but have been pretty disappointed with overpriced, low selection NYC thrift stores. Until now! We came to take the dog to little bay dog run and found Worthy Paws. What an awesome thrift shop! There are only 3 rooms or so, but they are packed floor to ceiling with all sorts of interesting and useful things! The only thing they don't have is clothing - which is totally fine. If you need dishes, interesting jewelry, knick knacks, pet supplies, books, dvds, random kitchen utensils/pans/etc, retro housewares - come here! We ended up leaving with a fabric dog carrier ($10), winter dog booties ($5), a cute retro looking mushroom shaped glass container ($5) and a magnet ($1). We will definitely be back!!! Notes: They had 50% off everything today - which was awesome! There is street parking - but make sure to put money in the meter - per the store clerk the cops are pretty quick to ticket there! This is a fabulous organization with a big heart for animals in need. Gertrude from The Worthy Pause has personally helped me with food and emergency vet bills for my colony of stray / thrown away cats. I do TNR in my community and sustain a large number of cats with food, winter shelters, and medical care, as needed. Thank goodness for the help I received from The Worthy Pause; my sisters, my friends and I have donated collectibles for the store and try to repay them for their generosity, and kindness in helping innocent animals and their survival. read more

Interesting store where you might just find a diamond in the rough. While the place is nice, some of the staff not so much, who can be downright unfriendly and rude. I have found some really nice items, and I will continue to dig for treasure but not on days when the "unfriendlys" are there. read more

The Worthy Pause is a great little hidden gem in Bayside. It is a thrift shop where you can find plenty of household items and accessories. I've gotten many items here including plenty of holiday decorations and jewelry. It's a tiny shop but it is packed with many things. You can spend plenty of time exploring all shelves and cabinets looking for fun items. You can't beat the prices and the best part is that proceeds go to helping animals. The ladies that all work here are volunteers and are very grateful for their customers. I have also donated many items here as well and it is nice to know they will be going to someone else for a second life! I stopped by the Worthy Pause (although imho it should be the Worthy Paws as all profits go to animal welfare) and it happened to be 50% off day! Score! This tiny little store was packed floor to ceiling with all kinds of amazing second hand goodies from Christmas ornaments to kitchen decor to knick-knacks. (no clothing) You can easily lose track of time between browsing the shelves and chatting with the kind lady behind the counter. I stayed so long I had to run out to fill the meter twice! I just love the Worthy Paws, a thrift store whose proceeds benefit cats and dogs. Visit their website for a full description of their items. But I can tell you that I always enjoy browsing their wares, and when I shop I know that the proceeds go to a worthy cause. Be sure to ask for Oliver and Henry the resident kitty cats. They are warm and friendly. The store is a bit (very) overstuffed. But one of the very nice volunteer ladies, Robin, I think, keeps it well ordered. It is a small store with a big inventory. Be sure to take a good look at the vintage and antique items behind the jewelry counter. I have found many a treasure at this place. You might be looking for something, or you may not. My favorite find? A vintage Jerry Mahoney doll. He was more than I wanted to spend, but I just had to have him. He was on a lower shelf, and as often as I shop there, I had never seen him. I love this little shop!! I was searching for a cute new thrift place for a while and the Worthy Pause met my expectations! The store is a little tiny thing with little treasures placed all over. Although filled to the top, there is organization to it. When I visited, they had recently received a stock of cat mugs and there was a very fair deal for them. I also found an old camera, some stationary, and these really cool old pictures with German writing on the back. I was also eyeing these old sunglasses. The volunteers that were there were so nice and helpful. When I asked to see the box of old pictures they made room for me on a chair and cleared away a little table so I had proper room to browse. Disappointing. I'm a thrift shop junkie, and this place was a big let down. The shop is a mess, the items are over priced and the lady at the front was surprisingly rude. She ignored me when I walked in and for my entire visit was just unpleasant. Turns out, she runs the place. What terrible customer service. If you have allergies to mold or dust, do not enter this store. A little dust and some pet hair is expected in secondhand stores, but the dirt and sour mold smell was overpowering. read more

Good cause but a little snobby. Turn up their noses at what they will accept but yet have a bunch of junk in the back. Don't understand that. Ugly coffee mugs and glassware that should be garbage but they pick and choose what they want? Could be nicer inside. They should organize it. Half of it unfortunately is junk.
