I enrolled at Blossom Nursing Assistant Training School because they offered weekend course and I work full time during the week. Every class included in something going wrong. More times than not, we were outside waiting for an instructor to come and open up. (John, one of the instructors, was the only instructor on time and ready to go at the beginning of every class and clinical - We appreciate John!!) The schedule was changed after payment of the course, which added on a Friday class which most of the students weren't able to do. We were required last minute to change our schedules to be there as it was mandatory. Clinicals were in Federal Way because Blossom students were no longer welcome at the Lakewood and Tacoma long term card facilities. We were not notified what day our CPR class would be held until it was that day and lunch time comes and the instructor said we would be staying 4 hours after class ended to get it done. Since there was no warning, dinner wasn't packed, childcare wasn't handled - it was very unorganized and rude. The owner said that the state testing would be held at our facility (Lakewood location) so my classmates and I put down a deposit to secure our spots and then the location changed. This required myself and others to come an additional weekend to familiarize ourselves with the Kent location in order to be more successful during our test. This business just needs to work out its kinks and be respectful of the students. We respected the Blossom building, materials and instructors' time, why wasn't ours kept in mind when all these changes were made?

I decided to tour some schools anyway, and even before my walkthrough here ended I knew this was the place. The owners and teachers have been in the business for decades. They are all incredibly concerned with how the students are doing and what they're understanding. I love how Alexandar embraces all styles of massage and allows the students to find their own flow rather than memorize sequences. We get plenty of clinical instruction as well as relaxation and spa, making for a well-rounded LMP. I've grown intellectually here, but this school also embraces and encourages spiritual and emotional growth. It's a holistic program that nurtures students and makes sure we have a solid foundation with the business side of things as well. It's truly been an amazing experience learning here. Debit cards are not accepted -- there are no signs indicating this. Only annoyance when you try to pay with a card. I asked my kids to leave their projects there so we could go get cash. The owner didn't seem to think that was enough. Since they were done she wanted assurance I would return so she didn't lose money. She wanted me to leave my kids there! When I said no, she was not pleased. I don't leave my kids with many people, especially NOT strangers! I offered to let her see my license so she could have my address. I had every intention of returning, my kids wanted their projects. I ended up leaving a debit card there since I have 2 and went to get cash with the other. Admittedly when I returned I didn't say but 2 words to her. I was upset that my integrity had been questioned and she wanted to keep my kids. What mom would go out of her way to give her children an experience and then not return to pick up their work? This is one place we will not return to and will tell anyone we know to avoid.

I found Huntington here on Yelp because I was looking for a tutoring center to help my 7 year-old…read moreget caught up from a rough 1.5 years of learning through the computer. Ugh. At first I was hesitant because we're not ready to do in-person learning because of COVID, but I found out they do one-on-one learning via Zoom (not 4:1 like the competitor). They started off the program by completing an assessment of where my son was at, learning-wise, the cost of this assessment is typically $195 but they had a special for $95. It was three hours long and went really in-depth. I was afraid kiddo would peter out but they gave him sufficient breaks. After the assessment, they went over the results with my husband and I via Zoom. Don't be scared- you're here to get help and you brought your kid here because you know they needed a boost- right? The results go over their scores in all of the subject areas, and they go backward to try and identify missed skills that might be holding them back; in my son's case, they went from 2nd grade back to kindergarten. The results will "prescribe" a certain amount of hours that your kid needs to catch up. After that, you purchase session hours that can be used in blocks. They charge per hour. As I mentioned, they're 1:1 sessions. My son has completed about 30 hours, and it's really helping him. He's a kiddo that really doesn't like distance learning and really doesn't stay engaged and I was concerned the same thing would happen here, but it didn't. By some sort of wizardry- my son is able to sit through the 2-3 hour sessions with his tutor. He's given breaks, they briefly allow him to be silly, and know how to get him back on task. It's pricey, and I did have some sticker shock, but my employer was reimbursing for these services for a brief timeframe. If you can afford it- it's great. I like the 1:1 ratios, purchasing hours of instruction (rather than a monthly amount), the ability to distance learn, and the way the instructors are able to both keep my kid engaged and teach him. Bonus points, for my fellow introverts: they have a text messaging system. You can text them. It's freaking awesome. Down with phone calls!
