The dental hygienists and the dentist here have always been great. The office staff, however, can be hit or miss. For example, today, I had someone named Melanie who called me, she was very abrupt and rude on the phone and she was in person as well. I recall the last time I came in scolded me for being 10 minutes late which made me want to look elsewhere for a dentist closer to my home since there are dental offices everywhere however I've stuck with them. I know quality office personnel with customer service skills can be hard to find but I do think sometimes their staff need to be reminded that it's easy for a customer to change providers and customer service still matters. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. Saw Dr. Kam and was told (after about 10 seconds) that I would need TONS of work done - root canals with posts and crowns on four teeth. I was not in any pain and was honestly in shock. He did not explain anything. He was also visibly upset when an additional question was asked of him for the insurance approval submission. Luckily, I sought a second opinion from an award winning dentist who owns a private practice and also teaches (very knowledgeable and successful). He gave me a thorough review and advised that I have 5 cavities. I'm disgusted that a medical professional thought it was OK to be overzealous with treatments just to earn a few more dollars. I wouldn't recommend anyone go to this office to see Dr. Kam. read more

Let me start by saying I hate going to the dentist. (Going probably gives me more anxiety than flying!) However, after trying for decades to find someone who made going not feel like a nightmare, I found someone! Dr. Robin is amazing. I still don't like going to the dentist, but she puts me more at ease than anyone ever has. She cares about her patients and actually listens and asks questions. I am so thankful I found her. Also, the entire staff is friendly and considerate. I appreciate the text reminder before my appointment. The lobby and the rooms are also open and bright which makes being there a little nicer. As my longtime dentist was getting older and closer to retirement age I knew I needed to find a new, younger dentist. Dr. Kam and Dr. Banooni at Lifetime Dental in Canton fit the bill. They are talented, energetic and caring dentists. It's a wonderful facility that is clean and well kept. They do a good job of scheduling appointments and all of the staff is nice. While going to the dentist can be a hassle, they make it much easier and I'm glad I made the right choice. read more

I went to their Canton office. Play it safe and avoid this dental practice. In my opinion, the dentists are nothing special and the billing department is rude. It is a production practice pumping people in and out the door and noisy as a cackling henhouse. They gave me incorrect information I was reliant on regarding the insurance network status of their periodontist. Because of their error, I had to pay hundreds out of pocket unnecessarily. They insisted he was out of network when in fact he was in network. Then after three months of calls by me AND my insurance company, I was told I was on my own to collect the final balance from my insurer. A relative tried them; got a filling from Kevin Malerman and had to go back three times for him to fix it. He failed. They said he was sloppy, rude, and rushed through the work. They had to go to another local practice to get it done right. The people at Lifetime seemed "friendly" until I had a problem. IMO there are many better choices. read more

The Backstory: On Friday, April 17th 2020 I went to one of Bright Side Dental's competitors (LifeTime Dental) on Cherry Hill and Canton Center Road in Canton. And for some reason I also went there for my previous work (cleanings, fillings) even though my daughter goes to Bright Side Dental and has had great experiences (noted above). Maybe because it is literally a mile away from my house (shame on me if that is the reason as this is important dental health we are talking about). Trust me before I get detailed about my experience (as I am not a complainer by nature). Anyway, saw Dr. David Kam who apparently is the lead dentist as I had severe pain in one of my teeth (with the beginning of an infection). I will keep it short. The needless poking and prodding (causing further pain in which I had to push his hand away thee different times) was a red flag. Then to when I notified him I will be going to urgent care on Monday, April 20th because the pain was so still too great (with only a curt, "let me know how it goes" response from him) to not even knowing what medication he gave me the first time (even though I was in the office and even forwarded the new medication given to me through urgent care). Not too mention the 8 minutes (till 9:08 AM) I was outside in the cold on April 21 waiting them to open up the actual doors for my 9:00 AM appointment. That is a dental office issue (not the doctor's). He lacked personal confidence on the initial visit on the 17th & again in the follow up. Anyway, during the appointment and after moving his hand away as he poked in the area of the severe painful tooth and then just sitting behind me (literally dumbfounded on how to treat me) I actually just walked out. It was so bizarre. I am so certain that if my regular dentist was there (Dr. Banooni) none of this would have taken place and I would feel like I was in competent hands. The human element was sorely lacking too. They lost a patient forever today. I bee-lined it to Bright Side Dental (the first place to come to mind as it was the place I take my most precious gift (daughter) in the world to). The difference at Bright Side Dental was immediate. I moved from a darker, dank LifeTime Dental to a really bright, pleasant, reassuring Bright Side Dental. The receptionist was so polite. I apologized profusely saying, "I know it is an emergency and can come back if I can't be seen right away," She was so friendly and said, "I know you are in pain and we will see you now." I was pretty emotional (not outwardly) as I wasn't treated very competently or compassionately the last 5 days. Then it gets better!! The dental hygienist (Heidi) was amazing and astonishing. She literally broke down the procedures and options (bridge vs implant) because my tooth was going have to be extracted. She literally had diagrams to show what what each entailed and referred to them frequently. Heidi was simply exemplary and extraordinary in breaking things down on what will happen at that moment and months to come. I am a special education math teacher (for emotionally impaired students) and Heidi absolutely has the astounding qualities of a caring professional--empathetic, knowledgeable, calm/patient). I won't get into how pretty she was too (lol). Met with the dentist a few times once I was admitted as he came and checked on me several times during my x-ray and set up with Heidi. His name is Dr. Bonds. Even though I was in pain (which he quickly helped medically) he made me laugh so consistently and took my mind off things. His personable and affable demeanor is what is so needed in a dentist--and the fact he is so good at his graft--pulling the tooth that had a vertical crack and adding a bone graft there after. During the whole time I was astonished in the night and day treatment I had received literally in a few hours. From a impersonal, non-confident dentist (Kam with LifeTime Dental) to a gregarious, master-of-his-craft dentist in Dr. Bonds. Everyone in Canton (even in Plymouth, Livonia, Belleville--all those surrounding areas) I stake my reputation (as a parent and actual patient) that the difference between the quality of patient care is tremendous between these two dental offices a mere 2 miles apart (in Canton on Canton Center Road). Don't just make the mistake (and feel like a number) when it comes to your dental care. Because the true difference is when you are in desperate need and need emergency care. I have been going to Lifetime Dental for several years now and I only have good things to say. I first saw Dr. Kam after a different dentist caused me irreparable damage resulting in losing a tooth and Dr. Kam has been nothing short of fantastic. He is kind, considerate and patient and he always explains what he is recommending and why. The hygienists explain what tools they are using and give practical advice if they see something concerning. Everyone in this office is nice, treats the patients well and is efficient. A great dental practice can be hard to find and I have found Lifetime to exceed my expectations. I highly recommend this practice. read more

I've been going here for a few years now and I have gotten to the point of dreading my 6 month appointment. It seems every time I go in there's something new that is wrong. Now I realize this isn't really their fault so read on to hear of my experience and impression of them. As far as scheduling goes, they're quite flexible and I really like how they'll send you a text, an email and even call the day before! With my ADD this is a godsend. The office is also clean and tidy and they seem well organized. All good things. The staff are on the whole friendly and often very professional and personable. Likewise with the hygenists. Unfortunately the dentists leave a bit to be desired and as they are the ones you are going to see it carries a lot of weight in this review. Here, the dentists are busy, often too busy to bother with you as a patient and a human being. They'll come in, review what the hygenist learned about your teeth, poke around a bit, and are eager to rush out. They do not take the time to get to know you on any level and don't really volunteer any information beyond what you need to know from your visit. Consider a recent exchange I had with one recently: Dentist: "Looks like you need a root canal." Me: *clearly saddened by the news* "Really? That sucks." Dentist: *clearly bothered* "What are you sad about it's just a root canal." No explanation as to why it happened was offered or any interest in letting me know of anything I could or should be doing better, just condensation that I dared interrupt their busy schedule. And this is a consistent problem. They never sit down to say something like " Hey, how are you doing on flossing? It looks like you aren't getting those molars very well. Because of this or that." There's no guidance or advice based on their observations it's just get you in and get you out. Like you are more of a number than a person. Now, all of a sudden they say I need to shell out $600 for a deep cleaning. After what that other reviewer (JM) said, I'm going to check with another dentist for a second opinion. And if I have a similar experience to them I may well modify my review as well. Stay tuned! UPDATE: Well I went for a second opinion and needless to say I do NOT need a "deep cleaning". I met with another nearby dentist that has received glowing reviews and what a difference! The dentist there was patient, kind, and explained everything she saw in my teeth and why she did not feel I needed a deep cleaning. In fact, Lifetime originally sent them the wrong xray! Combine that with the fact that they also had to take a brand new xray last time I was in because they "lost" the old one and that makes twice that they messed up IT wise. It's sad that the dentists here always seem to have one foot out of the door and get so annoyed when you query for more information and explanation about what they saw and why. More than anything, knowing what I know now, this place very much appears to be a money mill. Do NOT go here if you value your pocketbook and accurate dental assessments. This office can not be trusted. I'd give it 0 stars if I could. 2ND UPDATE: I thought I would update this now that I have been with my new dentist for one year. I just got my second cleaning and I couldn't be happier. I never got a "deep cleaning" and my teeth feel great and are very healthy. I stand by my original assessment of this business. read more

I went to this officer the first time last week and have nothing but a positive experience. Front desk was pleasant and very quick to get me in to see the doctor. I only waited five minutes until the doctor came in to see me. I ended up not having any cavities so I can't comment on that part of the visit. Would definitely go back. read more

If I could I would give Lifetime Dental Group 0 stars. I started going here about a year ago, it was after I got married and moved to Michigan (before I was going to an amazing place in Ohio) because this is where my husband goes. First time going I went, I went for a cleaning, I didn't feel like it was the best cleaning but it was ok. Let me also note (this is important info for later) that at my last cleaning I had in Ohio they had mentioned I was going to be needing some fillings but at the time I was pregnant and I decided to wait to get them done until after my son was born. This dentist at Lifetime mentioned NO need for fillings...and I asked after my cleaning, I'm all good? They responded yes your teeth look great..ok great. Anyways I scheduled my next cleaning for 6 months later. Now, a few weeks ago I made an emergency appointment because my teeth on my right side were starting to hurt really bad, they got me in right away. When I got back in the chair they started poking around, tapping on my teeth to see where it hurt and they were just not getting it but could see fillings on the side that was hurting soo they said to me, it could * be that the root of your tooth is dead and that requires you to get a root canal immediately because if you don't it could cause other problems. The COULD BE part is what got me, dentists should be more matter of fact when it comes to what is going on. Now remember I had mentioned the fillings my other doctor had told me about?? No mention of just needing some fillings, straight up to the root canal (mind you this is a procedure that costs about $1500, and this office requires a $100 deposit in case you don't show up to your appointment). Now, because my teeth were hurting so bad I decided to make the appointment to get it done on that Friday and I paid the deposit. But as I thought about it, this just didn't sound right to me. It just so happened that a couple days later my old dentist office called me to remind me of the fillings I needed to get so I decided to make an appointment at my old dentist in Ohio and postpone the Lifetime appointment. Turns out I DO NOT need a root canal (at my Ohio dentist I explained what happened at Lifetime, my old dentist office even took new x-rays and told me they wouldn't charge me for them!), the only thing I needed was the fillings... they did them and my teeth don't hurt anymore. I'm soooo glad I didn't end up getting something done I DID NOT need to get done. Now I'm trying to get my deposit back. I called Lifetime and they said they had to ask the doctor if they could give me a refund but that he wasn't in until another day. They also had to wait for my insurance to pay for the appointment I had went to about the problem. I called at the end of that week and they said the insurance hadn't paid out yet so I asked them to call the insurance to see what the hold was. They did, called me back and said oh yes they paid it already now we just have to wait for the doctor, he's been on vacation.... I said to the girl who answered, when I called last week he wasn't "on vacation", you guys are now giving me the run around, she was "apologetic" and said on Monday it should be taken care of. I will get that money back and my husband and I won't be back there! I would not trust this office...seems like they are out for the money! read more

Years ago I lived in Canton and chose Lifetime Dental because it was convenient. I moved out-of-state, then back to Michigan, and now drive several towns over to see them for my dental needs (they are that good). It is easy to make an appointment with them, they possess a clean facility, and all staff are super personable. Highly recommended. read more

I was so happy to have found Dr. Bernard "Doctor Robin" at Lifetime Dental. Not only was she great with me, but she was also unbelievable with my kids. She was so patient and caring with them. She took her time with all of us and she was great about chatting to take our minds off of being in the dentist's chair! After 2020 made sure that I was in desperate need of dental care, I decided to switch from my previous dentist at a Great Expressions dental center to Lifetime Dental and I'm so glad that I did! Monty did a fabulous job cleaning my teeth, even cleaning out a particularly stubborn spot that my previous hygienists and dentists had never been able to clean out. Everyone there is so pleasant and caring, and they made my multiple fillings as painless as possible. I found my dentist for life! read more

Just got a root canal and yes I have had like too many before, but this experience was awful. Took way too long and the procedure itself was way worse than my previous experiences with different dentist apparently. I suggest you go to how they used to be done and yeah get rid of the masks too, like back in the day we had no mask. read more

They don't have a clue what there doing there. they make appointments than change them on you. Husband had a appointment and was on his way they called and said he missed his appointment, when clearly it was a hour after they said and was made the day before. Dr. Xianli Tang had plenty of time to do a root canal but made him come back the next day. Which was the appointment they said he missed. Referred their from the South Lyon branch. I had a root canal redone there for pain I was having after the first one done in South Lyon. Dr Xianli Tang done mine, I still have pressure pain a month later. She also got my hair tangled in her button which I had to reach up and get my hair out. Never will I go back there again. read more

This place is pretty great. Most of the staff is courteous, the amenities are better than most as there is TV in each room, and the waiting room is nice. There are a couple of doctors in the this office, but I only trust one, Dr. Kam. He takes care of our whole family. Tried to push a unnecessary and very expensive deep cleaning on me. I got scammed by another dentist a few years ago and wasn't going to fall for it again. Deep cleanings are rarely covered by insurance except in cases of periodontal disease and have to be preapproved. They will not tell you this upfront, deliberately of course. You will end up paying $170 out of pocket for unnecessary work. For $170 you can buy a top of the line Sonic Care Toothbrush, a Water Pik and a lifetime supply of floss. The dentist examined my mouth for less than thirty seconds, that's it! Informs me I need a crown on a tooth because it had a previous root canal. I think I would remember ever having a root canal, which I most certainly did not Either this dentist can't tell if a tooth has had a root canal or he's trying to push unnecessary and high price work. Check out took a long time, seemed like some of the staff were getting on the job training. I asked if I could pay in one week so I could use my Med saving account in the new year. Nope, they wanted the money right then and there. I don't think asking to pay a few days later is a big accommodation. Summary - I'll be finding a new dentist read more

I have been with this office for more than a year. It is amazing that how they treat customers. They treat us like we are bunch of low life people. About a month ago I paid half of my share for implant. Today after waiting for ten minutes in waiting room, as soon as my name is called in and I sat on the chair one of the staff members put a paper on my face to pay the rest. She reluctantly told me I can pay after the surgery, but it is better to pay now. I asked her who directed her to be like this, she said the office manger. I talked to the office manger and it seems like that this practice is directed by the Dr. himself. When I asked the office manger that why not calling me while I was waiting, I was told that they were short handed. But miraculously all paper work is ready as soon as I walk into the examination room!! I even mentioned that we pay for a service. Where have you heard that anyone pays before services performed. The answer was simple: "We do this all the time and you are the first one complaining." No apology or any thing else. I cancelled my appointment. But you might think that they will refund the money they have charged me right away. NO, I have to wait now. Therefore my rating is ONE or even below. read more

The staff is not welcoming and they are very demanding about money (as soon as you sit in the chair, a paper is shoved in your face about the cost...what the heck? As if being there isn't anxiety-ridden enough, you have to be that abrasive about it too?) After getting a tooth filled, another crowned and yet another extracted, they told me I needed a "deep cleaning" AKA Perio scale which my insurance only covers part of ...I thought it sounded very extreme considering my gums are pretty quiet and healthy looking so I went for a 2nd opinion. As I suspected, they were completely scamming me - the other dentist pointed out they hadnt even done the correct diagnosing process, how could they POSSIBLY know I needed that service? The extraction was also unnecessary. So they bump up the cost to pay for all that fancy technology they have - it's expensive for typical procedures. Take your business elsewhere unless you enjoy being treated like a nuisance and conned into unnecessary COSTLY procedures. Dr. Kam is a money hungry fraud. read more

I've never been excited to go to the dentist, but when I was told by Dr. Kam for the first time in my life that I have really nice teeth, he made me an instant fan. I just met Dr. Jasmeen for the first time on my last visit and she was so kind and sweet. Everyone from the receptionist to the dental hygienists are top notch and friendly. Very professional office. Horrible experience! Do not use this place if you want to keep you teeth. I have been going to the South Lyon location, as I decided to use a dentist closer to home( just moved to area and my dentist was to far now) BIG MISTAKE. The staff is friendly but the dentists, just like another review, are always to busy and in a hurry to get out of the room. So, I used them few times for cleaning. The last time I was there for a cleaning, I was told I have a cavity and it's a deep one( no one had noticed it before that it got to deep? ) I scheduled an appointment for a filling. I felt like I was being tortured. The dentist, was in such rush and so rough that I thought I'm going to end up in the ER. After the ordeal is over, she gives me a pain med prescription and I'm out. The few days were awful. Although the pain had diminished, over the next 6 months I couldn't chew on that side. I couldn't even bite on a bagel. I went back and told her it hurts to bite, if it was a cavity and the work was done right why does it hurt? why can't I not chew? She gives me this BS explanation that sometimes it takes long time to settle or $^^$#@# like that and gives me more meds. No one follow up or anything but they did call to go back for cleaning. So, I decided to go back to my old dentist to see whats going on. They immediately took Xrays and discover that the dentist had drill so deep into my tooth that the filling was now touching the nerve, that's why I couldn't bite. I was told that the tooth is destroyed, the filling needs to come out, I need a root canal and a crown. I had to do it in order to get back to normal. So, I was out $800 for what was supposed to be a cavity, now I have a crown. I called them back and I explain to the lady the whole story and I asked for them to make it right. She said that she's going to talk to the doctor and will follow up. That was months ago. No one called, no one seem to care. SHAME ON YOU, FOR MEDIOCRE SERVICE AND RIPPING PEOPLE OFF. read more

This office treats you like you can be replaced by another revenue stream that will be coming through the door the minute it hits your backside when you leave because you don't agree with the way you are being treated. And it's that simple for them. I'd like to say it's just a lack of training for the young office staff. But, when they get the directive for their policies regarding how they treat you straight from the dentist and immediately tell you again with a greater sense of empowerment... then you know it's coming from the top and you won't be the one changing anything. Also, Lifetime seems to have a lot of younger hygienists that are inflexible due to issues in their lives which causes your favorite scheduled gal to get swapped for an unknown gal as you are walking in for your appointment. This also supports their need to tell you your appointment needs to be rescheduled if you arrive 10.5 minutes past the "scheduled" time. And, you are then informed of some 10 Minute Late Policy as the hygienist takes off her smock and smiles widely with a sarcastic apology while running out the door 45 minutes early. No matter that 90% of your visits will require you to be made to wait at least 20 minutes past your scheduled time as they then apologize for making you wait soo long with the expectation YOU WILL STICK AROUND and delay your busy life. How about a "we made you wait 10 minutes past your scheduled time so we'll waive the co-pay" policy as well. It's truly a shame since at the time of its opening the dentist met me and the hygienists and staff reached out to be truly warm and engaging providing apologies - along with corrective actions - and flexibility enough to be accommodating. This has all but disappeared. Many new faces have come in and the old faces are no longer there. Anyone of the many dentist offices in Canton, Plymouth, Westland or Livonia can do the teeth technical stuff. So, it's the policies and people that make the difference. I started going to LifeTime because it was new. No-one of course had recommended them at that time. And now, neither does my family! Save yourself the headache that will be hard to see coming with their sarcastic smiles and very young sweet talking staff and go to that dentist office that your trusted person recommends instead. Also, find one that at least has a decent sized or at least a comfortable waiting area that reminds you that you are the cherished revenue stream that supports their business. And, remember that they work for your business and not the other way around. Also, be sure the other office you choose is willing to buy a computer application that will send you an appointment reminder (voice, email, and/or text). Hope you are seeing that your treatment at Lifetime begins with their decision for cheaper costing people, processes, and technology (and waiting area) they employ. I give them 2 stars because they seem to still be good at the technical stuff. And, my family is leaving. read more
