Second year in a row I continue to have problems having contacts delivered to me without proper labels to know which 1 is right or left. I have never been treated so rudely. Vanessa was absolutely horrible to me because the glasses they ordered for me were bleary on the lower left lens to the point I couldn't drive my car with them, and she proceeded to tell me I didn't know how to turn my head to the left?? I've been wearing bifocals for over 20 years and had the exact same frames ordered as my last glasses which I had no problem with and now all of a sudden she doesn't want to fix the problem. I switched over to Lifetime Eye Care after two years of negative experiences at Nationwide. I cannot emphasize how glad I am to have made the switch from a chain to this local practice! The staff is incredibly courteous and professional. Dr.Sullenger is great and always takes the time to answer all my questions. Also, their selection of eyewear is one of the best I've seen. My experiences here have been nothing but positive. At my last appointment, I took about an hour to choose new frames (I'm really indecisive!) and never felt rushed or judged by staff. In fact, they took the time to give me great recommendations on what frames complimented my face. When I finally selected my frames, they explained my insurance coverage for add-ons so that I could get the most out of my insurance benefits! This year, I was fitted for daily contact lenses that Dr.Sullenger recommended and my appointment was just as great as the last time. read more

Buyer beware, I scheduled an appointment and provided my insurance information over the phone. The insurance co-pay for an exam is $20 and they UP CHARGE an additional $29 for a total of $49. (Optomap retinal image) Lifetime Eye Care does not disclose this information on the phone while scheduling the appointment and they will slip the Up Charge in with a text to you while confirming the scheduled appointment. This communication process in my opinion is not transparent and sets consumers up for higher eye exam cost. read more

I just got glasses AND contacts from this joint, so I'm going to give you the inside scoop. I know that is why you come to me. This place is in a strip mall attached to a Fry's. It's not facing the same way as Fry's though - it's over to the side of it. I hate it when I can't find a place and it's like, around some little corner of the strip mall tucked behind a Subway. It's a good location though, and there's always space in the parking lot there, so it's pretty chill. Inside this place it's like every optometrist, with lots of glass and mirrors and lights and pictures of people wearing glasses and a bunch of glasses to buy. The front desk seems to usually have a couple of ladies there and when you walk in, they kind of let you make the first move, so you should be ready to explain why you're there, like say "Hey I'm here to get some glasses." and probably you should call and make an appointment ahead of time. Getting your eyes examined is pretty standard. They don't do anything that hurts, which I really appreciate. Whenever a doctor does something that hurts, it's like... what the hell. They have this machine they charge extra for that takes a picture of the inside of your eyeball. I paid for that and it was ok. It would have been really sweet if they printed it out like a poster for you, but the doctor just looks at it to make sure there's nothing going on in there that shouldn't be. Thank freakin' hell there wasn't, right? Doctor Pratt then does the real examination and does things like have you look through the thing with all of the lenses that they flip around and say "This one" or "This one" or sometimes they say "Number one... or Number two..." Here, I will tell you something really great about Doctor Pratt. Sometimes they give you two options, and they're really freakin close. Like, you basically can't tell the difference. But if the goal here is to figure out what's best for your eyes, give me some time to try and sort it out, you know? And sometimes with eye doctors, you feel like they're trying to rush you. Like slow down damn it and let me look at the corners or the edges or the curves or something. Doctor Pratt was really relaxed with that. He also uses some machine that basically shines a light that's as bright as the freakin' sun in your eye, but again, it doesn't hurt, and I guess he's looking for things in the eye that the photograph wouldn't capture or something? I'm not sure. I'm not the eye doctor here, but it seems like he knew what he was doing. Anyway, I ordered contacts and glasses through Lifetime. I usually order contacts and glasses through the place where I get my eyes checked. It's usually hella more expensive, but to me, it's worth it to be able to have the whole thing in one company's hands, end to end. With the contacts, it was great because they actually showed me how to put them in and take care of them in an hour-long session. Now, I didn't need the full hour because with my hands, I'm basically a magic man, but it's nice to have that time set aside for questions that someone might have, or practicing putting contacts in, because honestly it's hard to learn to poke yourself in the eye. As for glasses, the selection isn't bad, but it's not great. There are a lot of very similar looks. I need some glasses with attitude. If you want glasses that look like what other people are probably wearing, then they've got something you'll like. If you're a hipster or need a look that says "I will choke you" or something like that, you're gonna be limited here. They seem to be a little restricted on their lens tinting options also. The darkest sun glasses I could get here are probably fantastic for UV, but I need dark lenses, so that my foe can't see my eyes, and these aren't those. The lenses themselves they're able to get fairly thin, but their lab doesn't roll the edges, so they still look a bit thicker than they need to. Overall, fantastic place, and I definitely recommend it. I do wish they had a wider selection of frames, and better lens options, but if you don't like what you see there, just go somewhere else, you turkey! read more

I recently had ordered contacts and when I didn't get them, I called to find out when exactly they were ordered. Mandy took my call and said she would see what the status is. She called me back and apologized the order was not placed and she would submit it now. She offered a couple trials while I wait for them to arrive and apologized profusely! I moved to Gilbert several years ago, so it's not convenient for me to drop by and pick them up. I told her I would let them know if I could come by. She then went above and beyond and said she goes to Gilbert and would be happy to drop them off at my house! Now that is going above and beyond customer service. I have had really great experiences with the doctors over the years, but the customer service was really disappointing today (so much so that I felt compelled to write this review). The receptionist was extremely condescending in response to a relatively simple question. I understand the answer to my question, but she talked me to like I was a nuisance and complete idiot. How about suggesting an appointment, or offering to help instead? Customer service is apparently a lost art these days. :( read more

On a Sunday Dr Pratt answered my emergency call and then opened up the office to see me for an hour with close examination when my symptoms sounded like I might be having a sudden detached retina. Dr. Pratt at Lifetime Eye Care is as good as it gets. I've been to see him twice and I've also taken my 5 year old in since he was 3 (he wears glasses). He is FANTASTIC with kids. My son loves going to see Dr. Pratt and never had any fear about going to the "eye doctor". The receptionist Abby is so friendly on the phone and in person. The optician I worked with, Christina, was also very kind and helpful. I love that you use an Ipad to fill our your forms when you get there instead of wasting so much paper. Real easy to make an appointment, their phone was answered by an actual person, and there was no "push number one, push number two" jazz. Parking is super easy, the location in in the Frys / Subway area. I was taken to the back and greeted warmly by any staff member that I ran into. The first precursory background check was easy and painless. The " real " exam by Dr. Pratt was efficient and to the point. After a lifetime of heavy computer work, I'd resigned myself to not seeing "quite right" for either far, computer-distance, or up close; no matter what adjustments other optometrists made whenever I got new glasses, something was always off... Until last year, with Dr Pratt. As soon as I put them on, I was astonished at the clarity at any distance. I recommend him and his office any chance it comes up. This year I have new glasses again. Something was off and I felt disheartened. Walked in asking if he could see me. He made time to reexamine, made some adjustments in how they fit, took the time to explain where and how to view, and it's made a world of difference. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I've had glasses that would get out of shape and I'd periodically stop in to get them readjusted. They're always happy to help. Their concern for satisfied customers is evident. Dr. Pratt has been my go to optometrist for the last 3+ years. Local to Ahwatukee, he will take good care of your family's eye care needs. Dr. Pratt serves the community with integrity. For example, on my most recent appointment, my prescription changed very slightly and he recommended keeping the current lenses (all 4), saving me hundreds of dollars. In addition, he shared that as I get older, it will be necessary to correct for reading close up, but rather than push for reading glasses or bifocals, he suggested I start with an inexpensive pair of general purpose reading glasses from Walgreens. These are the kinds of interactions that make it clear that Lifetime Eye Care do indeed want to earn your business for a lifetime. read more

The optometrist did an excellent exam. The front staff on the other hand were talking about personal stuff and paid no attention to me while I was filling out my forms. I actually had a question but opted not to interrupt their conversation. I found that to be very unprofessional. I also referred a friend, but they were so rude to her that she ended up walking out without making an appointment. Needless to say, I will spend my money elsewhere. read more

I took my 10 year old daughter who doesn't generally like doctors of any sort. Lifetime is great top to bottom. Dr. Pratt has young girls of his own and is terrific with kids. He's very thorough and took the time to explain things to Molly. Gal at the front desk was friendly and greeted us promptly. She had done her homework and had confirmed our insurance ahead of time. After my daughter's exam, we spent quite awhile looking at frames. Lifetime carries many different high-end designer's as well as medium to lesser priced choices. The woman who helped us was very helpful and made suggestions and even looked up several frames to check for other color options. We haven't picked frames yet bc we couldn't make our decision on the same day as my daughter's exam--we needed time to think about it. Looking forward to going back very soon to try on our favorites once again and make our final selection. Thanks, Lifetime! More goodness to share. They only care about how much money they can get from you. Went in for a checkup on Wednesday and eyes got irritated from being dilated. Went back on Friday to get a prescription for some eye drops from Dr Pratt and had to pay another $54 out of pocket for office visit after they billed the insurance another $30. Spent $400 out of pocket on glasses plus the copay on the checkup. RIPOFF!! I asked them to work with us on the second out of pocket and they said they could not. read more

Great example of how not to run a business! And terrible customer service... Based on a recommendation I went to this store and bought 2 pairs of glasses about 3 weeks ago. They said it would take ~7 days to have them ready and they (note the "they") would give me a call to pick them up. 10 days later I (note the "I") called in to ask what was the status on the glasses and they said the reading glasses were ready, so I went there and picked them up. I inquired about the sun glasses and they said they (note the "they" again) would give me a call when ready. 3 weeks later I (note the "I" again) called and no one picked up, so I left a voicemail, and called again the next day, no one picked up and left another voicemail, and 3 days later after leaving multiple voicemails I decided to drive the 30 mins to the store to understand what was going on. When I go to the store I found it closed for construction/remodeling. There was a receptionist there to whom I asked about my sun glasses and the dialogue went more a less like this: Me: I'm wondering if you have my sunglasses which I bought about 3 weeks ago and I'm still waiting for a call from the store to pick them up. Her: Oh, we have no phones now (while holding a mobile phone in her hand). Me: sigh.... So they had the glasses in the store but were to busy to care and give the customer a call. Unfortunately, to make matters worst the frame was too flimsy and needed to be readjusted and the only person who could fix them for me was "just out for lunch" and would be back in an hour... Awesome! So I drove 30 mins back to work, having lost my lunch hour in this amazing customer interaction! Note that I spoke with at least 5 different people (optometrist which I think is the owner, a sales agent and 3 different receptionists) when I went there to buy my glasses and no one, absolutely no one, mentioned anything about the construction or that the shop would be closed. Same thing when I went to pick my reading glasses, not a single mention to a store remodel! Not a single phone call, not a single email, not a postcard (they had my phone number, email and full address). I will never be returning to this shop again and I will make sure everyone I know won't go there as well! read more

Both my husband and I started with Dr. Smith when he took over here and were very pleased with level of professionalism and the glasses we purchased. But especially we were glad when some eye problems for both of us surfaced--he was so helpful and it was great to have a neighborhood doctor we could trust with medical issues as well as the general eye exam and glasses. (And he is a preferred provider for our insurance, so that is a bonus as well!) read more
