STAY AWAY - I arrived at Chattanooga airport and wanted to catch an Uber to my hotel. I asked the…read moreyoung woman at the Enterprise rent-a-car front desk if there was a designated area for ride ap pick-ups. She said that it was very difficult to get an Uber at the Chattanooga airport (first lie). She suggested that I call Vic Thomas taxi driver, then assured me that he would charge the same as an uber. She handed me his card. 7423-760-0404. Vic answered and amazingly enough he was just outside the exit doors. He said to wait inside and he would come to meet me. While waiting I looked up the cost for an Uber to my hotel and it was $14.75. I waited and within 2 minutes Vic appeared. I followed him through a line of legitimate taxis waiting in for customers. I loaded my suitcase into his white SUV which looked somewhat like a taxi, but when we started to roll, I noticed there was no meter. Hmmmm. Within 3 minutes he asked me if I was going to pay with cash or a card. I told him probably cash (I was going to just give him a $20) or I could pay by card as well. About 2 minutes later and while still driving Vic asks the following, "What [time] is it? Eleven-something?" I answered, "I guess". And for some reason, he said that it would be better if I paid by card. He then (still driving) produced what looked to me like a Bluetooth card reader, and instructed me to enter my card into the reader. My creep alarm was going off big time, and I decided to tell him that I would pay with cash. He then said it would be $25. WTH? I conveyed to him that the woman at Enterprise said he would charge exactly what Uber would charge. So I said no. He promptly said that he will just take me back [to the airport] then. I suggested that we split the difference and I would pay him $20. He adamantly refused and insisted that he would take me back as if he was getting pleasure from wasting my time. Seeing that there were some open businesses and a gas station near I told him to stop the vehicle, I was getting out right here. No meter means no charge jerk! I have a very strong suspicion that had I run my card through his reader fraud would have followed. I recommend staying far away from this company and its seeming scam artist employees. Just my humble opinion.
