The entire retreat area radiates an energy of peace and "Zen" from the moment you arrive. I attended the Gentle Yoga class led by Cristina, and she was incredible. She is soft-spoken, calm, and clearly very knowledgeable in the yoga arts. Her guidance helped me achieve a genuine sense of alignment and body harmony; it was the perfect environment to relax and deep-stretch. I also brought my mother along, who is a beginner. Cristina's teaching style was perfect for her, helping her find a great balance of movement without feeling overwhelmed. This is hands down the place I would choose to visit during times of turmoil or distress. I used to come more often to the weekly meditation on Sundays but then I got busy teaching at the same time it was offered. I try to come once in a while to the monthly Saturday meditation day. Finding annother Ashtanga teacher comparable to the wonderful Tasha at Yoga for Ewa on Oahu, who knows the sequencing and how to make adjustments seemed like an impossible quest unless I was willing to drive and fight through traffic to downtown Tampa. Fortune for me found itself at a little, cozy studio tucked away in a small shopping plaza off 41 behind the McDonald's. Leah is not only well versed in the primary series, she's no non sense, badass yogini who counts way too slow, but hey, it's to burn away my samskara, right? I have a love hate relationship with her, especially when she forgets to turn on the AC. If you are masochistic like me, go take Leah's Ashtanga class. It's small and intimate, so there's no hiding in the "back of the class". Seriously, it's a difficult class but things that come via difficulty are the most gratifying. And as they say here, no mud, no lotus! Oh I failed to mention logistics, register for class online for $12 a class (make sure you do it at least 30 minutes prior to the start time) or pay $15 at the door. Punch cards are available from the wonderful and sweet owner, Jessica (who I've heard gives a great massage). The merch is also pretty darn cute. Get yourself a "rocker tank" to display those Boulder shoulders you'll be getting from getting your headstand and Vinyasa on!

Lots of happiness when you walk through the doors and everyone is very kind and helpful to one another. My mom and I went to Joanna's spa for her Mother's Day package (massage and facial at a significant discount), and we were not disappointed! Joanna greeted us at the door and we briefly discussed any areas that needed extra attention. The massage room itself was perfectly warm, dimly lit and the relaxing music played at just the right volume. During our brief consult, I explained to Joanna, that I was experiencing neck and shoulder pain (due to poor sleep and a stressful month) and she proved to be extremely attentive to my needs. She worked on my most painful areas for a decent amount of time, and after the massage she rubbed my neck with a homeopathic pain relief cream with a similar scent to Vick's rub/Tiger's balm. It was a very thoughtful way to to end the massage.
