We are from Oklahoma but will be making our new home in Buckhannon this summer. This was our second visit to Lightburns and like the first, the food was delicious! I had the pork chop and stuffing dinner. Lord it was good and portions were huge. My wife had the Parmesan chicken and garlic butter noodles and really enjoyed it. Also need to give a shoutout to the homemade ranch salad dressing. Probably the best I have ever had. We are so glad that we will be able to visit more often when we move! read more

About six months ago we went for lunch. We had been there 4-5 times over the previous six months. The waitress was as new. Had never seen her before. Terrible service--took 1 hour to get our food and there were only 4 tables with customers. Server never checked on us once. Wife had the shrimp po- boy--was absolutely awful. She ate a few bites because the shrimp was burned to a crisp and there was no rremaloude sauce on it. So, she asked for some. Server said the cook wouldn't provide any because he already put some on it. Nope. Also, the bread was stale and dry. I had the James burger. Nothing special. Bun was old. Wife asked for a slice of pie for us to share--she told me she needed to get the taste of the shrimp out of her mouth. Pie was a piece of very mushy, mass-produced store-bought pie--not homemade. This place has a really nice environment - you can tell a lot of love went into designing and decorating the place. The food is really good, though it can occasionally be inconsistent. It's excellent for breakfast or dinner. The breakfast menu is very robust and everything I've ever had from it was delicious. For dinner, I've found the best success with their daily specials. The basic dinner menu is a little, well, basic - sandwiches, burgers and salads that are more or less standard. The specials shine, however, with much fancier offerings. Happened upon this restaurant on the way home the next day from an overnight ghost tour at transallegheny lunatic asylum and was well worth it! The restaurant was decorated beautifully (it was during Halloween) and I could only imagine what they do during other holidays. It was cozy and the food was amazing! ("Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine"). Well, Lightburns, in the most unlikely spot, Jane Lew, West Virginia, is CERTAINLY the unexpected. Some guy or gal in the back seriously knows how to cook. I came for lunch, and came back 3 times in the next 2 weeks, and Lightburns never dissapointed. The cheesesteak sub (even made with chicken) and their salads were great. The chili was great. It was all great, including an EXCELLENT crowd pleaser playlist piped in at just the right volume to tickle the ears as the food tickles your palate. Well done, Lightburns, and carry on. This place never disappoints. I have to admit I have only been inside to eat a couple times but have gotten take out numerous times. During this pandemic I feel we have to help out our local eatery's as much as possible, but with food like this you come back for more regardless of the circumstances . The taco salad was HUGE and my husband said was delicious and spicy ( he likes spicy), I had the po boy and it was crispy and fresh with a little bit of spice and old bay seasoning. The pizza bread was simple yet scrumptious and the dipping sauce was exactly what I like. There was enough left over for tomorrow. My son had the quesadilla and said it was really good as well and was definitely filling. All in all we are very lucky to have this little restaurant in our small community. If I could give this no stars I would!! Food was terrible uncooked chicken which I ended up being bedridden for days from with some sort of food poisoning less than 12hrs after eating at this "restaurant" also couldn't help but notice the unbearable smell of smoke. When we questioned the waitress about the strong odor she nonchalantly replied "oh yeah when we close at night the owners smoke in here" wishing we would've asked that before we ate I still regret to this day! This place needs to be shut down AVOID THIS PLACE at all cost. There aren't many food options in the area but trust me do not waste your time or money in that place you will be disappointed and maybe even be as lucky as me and get a food borne illness. read more
