For me, I started by asking someone close to me who has recently gotten a mortgage. I wanted to see if they can recommend their lender. They did! They recommended Nick. I understand the questions you're asking yourself and I get it, you want to work with someone you can trust will go the distance to get you the best rates. You want someone who is skilled, who has the financial acumen, and is a financial mortgage expert. Nick encompasses all of those attributes and then some. Nick has over 10 years experience as a mortgage lender. He leads a team who under his guidance and leadership work diligently to make sure you don't fall out of escrow. They work very hard to ascertain you receive your loan on time. Nick is patient, explains loan terms, answers questions, and treasures his clientele. Right from the beginning, Nick and his team calculated the wrong amount of loan we were allowed to take. Instead of being prompt to resolve the issue, he slowly stopped approaching us. Often times, he would miss our phone call, he then messages us saying he will call us back. We tried to respect him and his busy schedule by giving him time, but even after several days, we wouldn't hear back from him. My wife and I had to "chase his tail" to get updates on the progress. Eventually he stopped answering our phone calls and had his assistant answer us. His assistant would always be very vague with her answers, leaving us with unsolved questions. The very last phone call we made, yet again, was his assistant who picked up the phone. We asked her if our pre approval will be ready with in the time frame to which she replied "maybe". That was the last time we heard from Nick and his assistant. At the end, Nick couldn't provide us the pre approval letter within the time frame that he promised us. What's worse is he didn't even bother following up or check up on us, basically ghosting us. Nick wasted 3 months of our time during this competitive housing market. It is very unfortunate that our first lender, Nick, was very unprofessional and left a bad experience for us. Luckily we ended up with another amazing lender from ACG which worked out great. If you guys ever wanted to purchase a home, and had to go through thousand of hurdles to satisfy…read moreunderwriting requirement, only to find out that the loan is not approved and kill the deal, then you know that having the correct lender on you side is very important. Supreme is my go-to mortgage brokers when I need to close escrow on a house and I know that their underwriters are within reason and are not crazy strict like some other lenders. Each lender has their own underwriter, and the big banks are usually the worse when it comes to lending. In a tough real estate market, and you finally found the house of your dream, you should be prepared and have that preappoval letter ready. The problem is that even with a pre approval you still need qualify for the loan with the submittal of many, many document after you get into escrow for the house you like, the loan approval process is sometimes very difficult. I found that after working with many mortgage brokers and banks, Supreme is the easiest to qualify for loans, and also reasonable underwriting process. They are not the lowest rates, their rates are slightly higher but still competitive. I would not recommend them for refinancing your home, for that you should use Victoria Financial (see my review), but Victoria is extremely slow and difficult to underwriting process, so they might kill your purchase since it takes so long. You can take my advice with a grain of salt, but this is my experience with Supreme so far, I really appreciate that they were able to fund our loan when two other lenders cannot do the same, within the allotted time.
