I've never been to a store dedicated to just one brand; I've only been to places like the Tennis Plaza. The spot is a bit hidden away in an area that looks like a corporate park. The inside is a pretty decent size and even has a "play area" you can test out paddles. They have items from rackets, paddles, hats, balls, and even athletic wear. The inside is half office and half store/court. We got to chat with Chris and he let us know that they actually host an event every month with food and drinks and even give special offers and discounts during those events! It was so tempting to walk out without a paddle but I controlled my urge. We did however leave with a paddle for my cousin for her birthday. A great spot to test and pick up a paddle!

Frank McDonough moved from Chicago to Florida to escape his hay fever in 1954, two years before Light House Point even became a city. He served on the city commission from 1963 to 1968 and then was appointed mayor in 1968. He was re-elected until he resigned in 1984. In 1989 he was elected as mayor again and formerly retired in 1993 while still staying active in city affairs. In 1982 Lake Placid Park was renamed Frank McDonough Park in honor of his many years of service to the city. Frank McDonough passed away in 2001 at the age of 81. Frank McDonough Park started as a field that city recreation pioneer Dan Witt and some other fathers cleared so that children living in Light House point could have a recreation league of their own. Fifteen pallets of sod were donated so a football league could practice. Today, six acre Frank McDonough Park provides recreation to all ages in Lighthouse Point. The park has a baseball field, football/soccer field, sand volleyball court, 2 racquetball courts, 9 clay tennis courts which is home to the Lighthouse Point Tennis Center, a covered firefighter themed playground with two play area, one for tots, and one for older kids, and restrooms. Added to the park in 2020 is outdoor body-weight resistance workout equipment that includes a sit-up bench, chest press, pull-up bars, leg press, push-up station and more. This park is ideal for sports, play, and working out. The city has even staged concerts in the park in the past. Don't forget to stop by the Heroes Shrine located in the northwest corner of the park where you will find a memorial to those who serve in the military and first responders.

There are bathrooms near the tennis courts with more powerful fountains. The park has tennis courts, a basketball court, baseball field, and a general playing field. There is a parking lot nearby that shares space with a church and there might be more parking by the tennis courts. It is a great park with a lot of amenities.

We were having lunch around the corner when we decided to come by this park and check it out. It's…read morequite small. In fact, we passed by the entrance to it. It's one way in and one way out of the car lot. This park is more concrete than "park", although it is connected to a large open grassy field. The majority of the trees and bushes (greenery) are in the parking lot between the car rows. In addition, the John Trudel Community Center building with various programs is located right next to the park. The park is mainly two basketball courts and four pickleball courts. And they are blue painted pavement -- not green. We observed some kids getting lessons on the pickleball court and one older guy shooting baskets on one of the basketball courts. It's still a nice convenience for the locals in Lighthouse Point as it is located amidst the houses in a residential section of the city. I am glad we found it. But it's not the place you'd wish to go out of your way to visit unless you lived nearby.

For earth day and for a milestone review, this is the park I chose to go to. We were not far away…read moreand I was curious to explore the area. I could easily live in this park. You'd never know it was here -- right along the intracoastal waterway -- unless you lived in this neighborhood. It's not the easiest to find as it's set back amongst the expensive homes, boats, marinas, and winding streets of Lighthouse Point. But it's well worth a trip to find it. There's not that much man made entertainment here -- no bbq grills or tennis courts or basketball nets or swing sets. What it does have is natural beauty and spectacular water views. There's a paved path to the middle and around the edge as well as some sandy paths. There are several spaces to park your car just outside the fence. Inside the fence is a bike rack. To the left of the entrance is the butterfly garden. And yes, we did see some colorful orange butterflies when we went -- but they were too fast (or shy?) for pictures. There are flowers -- yellow ones (sorry I don't know their name) and a number of green ones planted to attract the flying beauties. To the right of the entrance is a lovely large white Jasmine flowering bush. Heavenly scented. Inside the park are wide green expanses under the trees and several tented pavilions where you can rest and read or just contemplate nature. There is a bat house on a tall pole -- the bats eat mosquitos and are encouraged to visit, but I doubt there's one in residence. There was an empty bird house high up on a tree, too. There is an exercise area with instructions telling you what to do. But no one was using it. There's a sandy area with many coconut palms (and coconuts on the ground) and sea grape bushes that lead right down along the water. You could even dip a toe in if you're adventurous -- or just pull up a towel and sun bathe. In any case, along the water you get to see all the sail and speed boats passing by. And hear a soft lap as the water meets the shore. Such a nice respite from the hubbub noise of civilization. It was a welcome quiet space to rest and relax -- to get away and enjoy Mother Nature. So, come here -- and make every day Earth Day!
