I ended up making it work with a downstem I already had at home. I used the torch on it for less than 10 seconds, and it cracked. I was sitting there with two other people who both saw and heard it happen. I called the shop simply to ask if they could exchange it for a new one because, clearly, something was wrong with the glass. The "manager," OD, was not helpful at all and was completely unwilling to work with me. It's not even about the amount of money wasted. It's the principle and the customer service, or lack of it. I didn't even get to use the product once before it cracked, and I was only asking for a simple exchange. Unfortunately, I would recommend buying your products somewhere else. Very disappointing experience, especially from a business that should stand behind the products they sell.

Though the premise is pretty consistent from one shop to another (as are the prices), the individual shops can vary greatly based solely on attitude. Though some prices can vary from one shop to another, the people that staff the shop can truly make all the difference. This shop offers extended hours, a free lighter when you buy a carton, and a friendly employee that engages with customers and helps out with any questions or assistance with piecing together the best value when requested to do so. Some smoke shops are staffed with bitter, negatively opinionated shop owners that make you feel like a nuisance upon entry. I have never experienced that here and though the only thing I have ever bought there are cigarettes, the staff is always friendly and nice to chat with. I would like to see the acceptance of American Express and maybe a slightly better discount when buying a carton, but other than that, this smoke shop is one of the best in the Northwest.

Breaking to interject that while I do not smoke, I normally purchase/source them. This place is my backup. I have always gotten in and out quickly and efficiently with, at the worst, quite solid customer service. Back to our story. She said she paid for the carton but, oh no, they were out but had one pack to sell. Sketch? Maybe. I've been told once before they were out of her brand. Notice I said I 'told' and not 'sold'. Come to think of it, they scan product here for price and inventory. Quick recap: charged a card without having inventory on hand. My wife stated she started feeling uncomfortable as he was really pressing for her phone number so could let her know when the shipment was in. BETTER YET, where do you live, perhaps I can deliver them to you. REALLY? Oh, and something about him pushing his number as well. She doesn't wear a ring but it's a little patriarchal to lean solely on that, no? Another sidebar: without a call, she goes to the store to see if she just can't avoid this lunacy and just pick up the remaining nine packs, already paid for. They know nothing about this, so employee calls the closer the night before. My wife mentions that it's not worth it, this more popular brand is fine, can she just get the remainder in that brand and call it good? Sketch guy REFUSES and demands an address for delivery about x time. She's telling me this and red flags continue flying. The more popular brand she offered to take gives her really heavy headaches so I know she wouldn't make that offer lightly. She's visually uncomfortable with the whole scenario, I say I'll handle it. Not macho handle, just to calm her through the roof anxiety. He's blowing up her phone and finally says he's outside. I'm already there so I walk up and say that she can't come out, she's on the phone. He gives a look like this isn't what was expected and asks to see her. Not speak with, see. I repeat myself and the response is, "I don't know you", leading to mine, "No but you're in front of my house and I'm talking about what you're here for." With the same Fox in the hen house leer, and it was a leer not a look, he's holding the same line. I ask if he is going to hand over what he came to hand over that has already been paid for and he asks Ron take a picture of the carton and I cut him off saying it's not worth it and go to get my phone to snap license plate pics, etc because this is just creepy. He looks disgusted to be speaking with me. I've already stayed I can provide name, date of birth. SSN...just hand over the paid for product. He's texting the entire time. I tell him he's being an asshole as I walk away. Twice. Get to the door and turn around. No. "These are paid for." He comments that there are nine pieces to which I ask why. "because she took a pack last night" and that's 100% above water and accurate. Hell with it, I hop through the open window, grab the 90% full carton and go inside with a few choice words that I still feel are deserved. To wrap this up, like with other poor reviews they point out store footage of why they are right. Who knows, that might be true. You can't do it here. You went to someone's home. Predatory? Yeah. Especially when the same sleaze I dealt with refused another brands replacement...which works out for the store, by the way. Moral of THIS story? Sure can't recommend any females go there. My opinion, but based on interaction by at least a shot caller? Opinion stands.
