Patrick was simply awesome - he literally gave one of the best massages I've ever had. He took his time with each areas, wasn't in any rush, changed pressure as per my request and was highly skilled. The lady who gave my wife the massage (she forgot her name) also did an excellent job as per my wife. It was my wife's first massage (she is ticklish and was hesitant about the whole idea) and she came out very happy and satisfied with this experience. Would highly recommend them. He came out a new man, practically, with only traces of his shoulder pain (that's why we booked the massages in the first place--to try to help with his pain). The front porch is my favorite, while you wait for your appointment there is a very soothing welcoming vibe from all the flowers and view of downtown Kona. I love the quaint atmosphere the minute you walk in the door you are welcomed by the sweet aromas of essential oils and tranquil music to allow you to fully relax. I felt very secure as everyone is wearing a mask and is very clean and tidy. I had an hour long massage with Johhny, he was wonderful. I had a back surgery and it was very nice to have a masseuse that is willing to take the time To help me release tension in areas near my spine that are not common in traditional relaxation massage. Three of us just returned from two hour treatments that were very relaxing and truly enjoyed. This spa is plain and simple but the people were very nice and accommodating. It is true that the walls don't go all the way to the ceiling so sound can carry but they keep the soothing music going and disturbances to a minimum. Sopa gave one of us a 125 minute hot stone massage which was thoroughly enjoyed as she had amazing strong hands. Lilly gave another one of us a 90 minute hot stone massage followed by a 30 minute facial that was just perfect in the amount of pressure, etc. Preston gave a 90 minute Swedish massage and got all the sore muscles worked out, followed by a wonderful extra 30 minutes of attention to sore feet which was perfect. They get five stars for being open and available on Sunday but more importantly they got my mom to relax! She is usually running on 200% at 180 mph so getting her to downshift and unwind is very difficult. Her esthetician was very patient and coached her to meditate. Oh. My. Goodness. This was the best decision I made while I was staying in Kona. My friends and I booked in for an Endless Summer Special which was 2 hours of complete bliss. I've had a lot of massages (Physiotherapy/ Remedial/ Spa treatments) but this was by-far the best. We had been travelling for 3 weeks - lots of walking, lugging around suitcases and sitting on planes. All I really was looking for was to relax and loosen up my sore back, but what I got was AMAZING. My therapist was Jackie and I cannot say enough nice things about her! She was so sweet and really lovely to chat with as she asked me questions about what I was hoping to get from the treatment etc. She was also very professional and made seamless transitions between each part of my treatment, so I had nothing to think about except how amazing I felt (...and how I might go about convincing her to move to Australia to be my personal masseuse...). The treatment included a mini facial and hot stone massage, and to my delight it seemed to go on forever - which is incredible when so often I've found myself just getting into a massage before having it end! Jackie was very attentive to my needs and applied as much or as little pressure as I wanted (and I like a firm massage) without missing any area or muscle, leaving me super relaxed and totally loosened up. Jackie clearly knows exactly what she's doing and is so great at what she does! This was hands-down the most relaxing experience I've had... I would (and probably will) visit the Big Island again, JUST for this massage, because I don't think I'll ever find a massage or therapist as good anywhere else. From making the phone call and making our appointment to our treatment's end, the service at Body Rhythms was wonderful. Every member of staff was warm and friendly and welcomed us into the space as though we'd been there 100 times before. The massages here were enjoyable. Everything else - not so much. Booking the appointment was a pain because the person who we booked with couldn't understand me and I had difficulty understanding her accent so I had to repeat everything. We got the 'Endless Summer' and felt immediately rushed when we arrived to get our feet cleaned; wrapped and out of the entry area. The entry space is small and crowded and the water was too hot and not very relaxing. Our location was in earshot of the payment counter so we could hear about payment problems of some other customer while having our massage and everything else that was said during our 1.5 hour massage. All of these things really made this a not-so-relaxing experience. We won't be back but its really because of the setup than our massages. read more

I don't know if the ownership or management changed recently, but my experience was nothing like the reviews I read. My husband and I booked a couples massage for our anniversary and we chose Body Rhythms because of the price, the Yelp reviews, and the Trip Advisor reviews (we are not tourists). Wow. What a disappointment. We were barely greeted with a hello from the massage therapists before they handed us the standard new client form to fill out. Both were pretty flat in their interactions with us and really seemed like they could take or leave being there. Susan was my massage therapist and she gave me exactly the massage I asked for, which was relaxing with hot stones. I definitely felt relaxed, which is one of the only reasons I gave two stars. Otherwise, it would have been a no star review, if that were possible. While Susan did give a relaxing massage, she was not particularly skilled with the stones and I'm not sure she had ever been trained to use them. I would call this a massage with stones, rather than a hot stone massage. She used some effleurage with the stones, but removed them as soon as she was done. She didn't leave them on any of the standard points like the pectoral muscles below the scapula or along the spine, or points at the bends of the arms and legs. All in all, she seemed skilled but like she was phoning in the massage from experience rather than focusing on the person under the sheet. My husband's experience was pretty bad. The massage itself was disjointed and more distracting than relaxing. I wish I could tell you the therapist's name, but neither of us remembers. She did a lot of taking her hands off, which is generally a no-no in massage, at least as much as possible you should always have hands (or at least one) in contact with your client. As far as the hot stone massage, it was fairly non-existent and she was clearly untrained. As soon as the massage was done and we were served our water, she put on her backpack and hurried out. I don't know about you, but I don't want anyone in the service industry leaving before me, at least not so that I can see it happening. She clearly wanted nothing to do with this appointment, and I wonder if she was a last minute back up. After the massage, we were given our water and then sat waiting until I eventually asked if I could pay them. They told us that they were waiting for the manager who would check us out. Neither of the therapists really talked to us or asked how we liked the service. It was pretty uncomfortable and awkward. We waited about ten minutes for the manager until I finally asked Susan if I could pay her. She said she could only take cash, which we we had, thankfully. The therapists are not trained to use the credit card machine, which seems pretty ridiculous. After paying cash and on our way out we ran into the manager and told him our experience. He ended up refunding the cost of one of the massages, which we did not expect, but appreciated, and this is the reason for star number two. All in all, he seemed like he didn't know anything about massage or running a massage business and was pretty much just flustered. In the midst of our conversation, the manager was distracted by another massage therapist who told him that her client had said he paid online but she could find no record of it in the computer. I had to sit and wait while they worked that issue out, before he finished with our concerns, even though he was working with us first. Initially I was going to accept a credit for a free massage with a different therapist, but decided that with all of the weirdness and awkward exchanges that it would just be better to get the cash refund and go elsewhere for a massage. Oh, and by the way, the price isn't as stated on their website. Tax is added at the end of the transaction. I don't know if this is standard procedure in Hawaii, but there really should be something on their website or on their price list that indicates the the price is plus tax. Also, my husband and I are both massage therapists, working both privately and corporately for many years. We typically don't announce that when we get massages, not because we are critical, but because we want the real experience that every client receives. In my opinion, my massage background shouldn't change the quality of the service received. This was just terrible, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Super disappointing. Reply to owner comments: We paid for the service in full, including a 10% tip for each therapist. We never asked for a refund, the manager offered it without our prompting, and we accepted the cost of the massage only. Please don't make us out to be terrible people. We simply had a less than positive experience with Body Rhythms. Also, it's interesting that you made the assumption that we're tourists. We are local people looking to support local businesses. I am a certified massage therapist so I am a bit critical of massages that I receive. That being said, I received an amazing session from Angela the day after getting thrown from a horse. There was no oily mess like others had mentioned. Angela used a great unscented massage cream that allowed her to engage my muscles at many levels. The blend of Lomi Lomi and Swedish was just what I needed, not too light and not too deep. It has been years since I received such a great session that relaxed me physically, mentally and emotionally. My husband also received a session, he's the type that likes massages deep, and he was quite pleased with his session. So we thought before we get on the plane lets have a massage to help us sleep on the plane and cap off a great trip. My wife found Body Rhythms. The owner David is very attentive to your needs and helped us coordinate the time so we could have a relaxing massage without worrying about making our plane. He really went the extra distance. And the massage? Great! We both had the Lomi Lomi with hot stones and it felt wonderful. I left feeling loose and relaxed. Definitely the way to end a trip! I have been suffering from chronic pain; neck, back, knees, leg pain that I actually had back surgery for with no relief. 1 session with Daisy gave me RELIEF. completely pain free when my session ended. Let me say first of all, this place is amazing. My friend and I have both gotten massages several times before but this place beats it all. Arranging an appointment was a breeze and were met by very friendly hosts. We both had normal 60 min massages. I struggle a lot with my neck, but she knew exactly what to do to loosen it up, without giving me a headache. You could easily tell that she knew what she was doing! My friend was also extremely pleased and we would recommend this place to anyone wanting a real massage for a reasonable price. If you want a Swedish massage where you get drenched with oil, this is the place for you. It is in a great location, staff is friendly and it's very clean. If you prefer deeper work, would not bother. I paid an extra $20.00 for a deep tissue massage and received the above mentioned oil drenching Swedish with a few elbows thrown in. None of my knots were addressed, and I felt like a wet drippy unsatisfied mess when I left. I did like the wrap, but the foot reflexology had the same problem as the deep tissue - way too much oil to ever be effective. read more
