I trusted they would give me a fair price. Was just charged $70 for a synthetic blend oil change on a 2011 Honda Pilot. It left a very sour taste in my mouth. I get my car cleaned here all of the time! Affordable prices (unless you are one of the people that have commented below who LOVE to bitch and whine about anything and EVERYTHING!). If you HAVE the money, then you don't care about prices, as long as you get a job well done. I cannot complain because every time I've taken my vehicle, the Lightning team has always been friendly and do their BEST to do a job well done. I have seen customers in the past FUME about the littlest of things, and even HARASS, YES...They WILL harass the employees if they don't get what they want while trying to CHEAT them of their prices. I have known these people for YEARS and I KNOW they treat people in the best way possible, but they are also HUMAN! The place was deserted both times I've been there and I think I know why. The wash job was okay (all by hand, not automated) but is SEVERLY overpriced compared to similar businesses, even with a "deal" voucher. The first time I attempted to use my voucher (for which I paid $10 for a $20 interior & exterior cleaning), they said they couldn't do it because the person who can process the voucher was at lunch! I went back today only to be informed that my car, a Honda Element, is considered oversized and would cost an additional $10! My other option, which I reluctantly accepted, was to get an exterior-only wash "worth" $18. I absolutely will NOT be going back. read more

I had gone to this place about a year ago and thought they did a good job; however this time was a much different experience. The sign for the price list showed crossovers and mini vans as one category but the lady insisted on charging me the next level higher for my mini van. Later she came in the waiting room and said it was going to cost $20 more since my mats were dirtier than they expected. If they list a price that includes cleaning the mats then they should clean the mats and not try to haggle the price up. To be fair they did do a good job and I ended up only paying the price listed for minivans but only after getting into a shouting match. I will never return. read more

I came here today for just a tire rotation and balancing. I also wanted to make sure my tires were okay and make sure one didn't have a leak in it. When I picked up my car, I was charged $63 and I knew that sounded expensive but I wasn't sure the normal price or if he'd done anything else. When I went to get inside my car, I noticed the sign with all the prices in front of me and it said $35 (and up) for a rotation and balance. I went back inside and was told it was $35 for rotation and $35 for balance and that's why I was charged so much which is ridiculous. No place would charge those separately but I had already paid so no use fighting it. I should have asked what the $63 included before paying but I definitely would not recommend coming here unless you want to be scammed out of extra money. read more

I've been going to Lightening Detail for over 10 years for hand washing after a drive through car wash removed the decal from my trunk and harmed the finish. Lightening Detail does a great job for a reasonable price. I usually get a mini detail for $40 and my car looks like new when they are finished. They give a punchcard so the 11th wash is free. read more

"CHEATERS!!!" Do not use these guys. They provided us a loyalty punch card that said pay for 9 washes, get the 10th FREE. When I presented the card for a free cleaning, they told me the new policy was for $20 off. I showed them that the card had no expiration date they told me it was not valid. Then they told me it was only for normal cars and I needed to pay extra for my Lexus suv. Again, I showed them that the card said nothing about the type of car and this card represented the 9 washes on this same suv. Then the older guy at the counter tore up my card. All they said was I owned them $35 additional dollars because they had begun to wash my vehicle. I asked for a manager and they told me he was not available. When I called back for his/her name, they hung up on me. When I called back, they had blocked my number. Please do not reward this type of behavior! read more

The heavy set woman refused to wash my car. She said it was too cold outside. As I was leaving another employee pulled around in a car they had just washed. I went back the next day with another vehicle for emissions and asked why they wouldn't wish my car and no one was able to answer me. I won't be giving them my business anymore. I came here after searching for a decent car hand washes in Duluth. Usually I'm very picky of where to go since I hate those automatic car washes which seems to be on every corner in Duluth. They leave terrible swirls and for 10-20 bucks they don't even clean it for you!! You have to wipe down the water or else it will leave water marks on ur paint and Windows!! For $25 bucks Jose and his team will vacuum inside, clean wash and wipe down every corners of the car. I love it. They did an excellent job on my baby. I highly recommend this place for those who really value their car. Stop going to those automatic car washes and go here!!!! read more

Went in for a hand car wash on my Highlander and paid $20 plus tip (just for the outside) and I was in and out within 15 minutes with no line. I still had to clean several dirty spots on my car when I got home so that's why I didn't give them 5 stars. Overall though, it was good. read more

Went in for a basic oil change that was 25$. I agreed to replace the filter for an additional 10$ . When they were finished my bill came to $63.60! They said I was being charged for 7 qt oil. I was never informed that the cost of the oil change would be so much higher then what was posted on their sign. I will never take my car to this shop again, went in for an oil change that was advertised on the street for $24.95 which turned to $32.99. By the time they checked me out it was $82.99..they were trying to charge me $50.00 for two filters. When I was first approached about the filters I told the gentleman I could purchase them cheaper at Autozone. Instead of putting my filters back in my car, he threw them away and put in these cheap $25 a piece filters. Will never step foot in this place again!!! read more

I was very disappointed in the customer service I acquired today at Lighning Detail Salon on Killian Hill. I went in for a wash and detailing. This was my first experience and the sign said it would cost $40 for a car. They hand washed and waxed the car, which I am pleased with. When I went to pay, I was informed that I have an SUV and the cost was $60. I have an HHR; it is a car. They upcharged me $20. I couldn't believe it. He finally charged me $5 extra dollars for the hatchback. At this point, a female employee,spoken of in previous posts, started arguing that I had an SUV and then changed it to a station wagon. She was very nasty and pursued me out the door as I left. She was complaining about how unappreciative I was. I was disguisted to be treated this way and I don't believe anyone should be taken advantage of this way. Stay away from this shop if you want to be treated fairly. read more

I have been going to these folks for quite a while. One reason being is that there are really no car washes around my home that have any good reviews. I generally like the job they do. I went the other day and got a mini-detail (usually get a wash) since we had been on the road the car was fairly dirty. They wanted $5.00 just to vacuum a small area of the trunk. No way was I paying that and most other places I've been to in the past that is part of the detail. Then the female who works there was very negative and quite frankly bordering nasty. I have seen her there before but I've not seen her actually do the washing. She's a heavy set female who was complaining of the heat and said to me "you should try to do this in the heat every day". REALLY, if you're not the owner then get another job. I have a free car wash next time from going there so long but after that I think I'l have to find somewhere else to do my business with. read more
