It was such a contrast to the experience I had only a day before when a few friends and I went to Monster Vineyards the day before - they were obviously quite displeased that we'd arrived close to closing and had the gall to ask if we could do a tasting, but I'll get to that review. This experience at Joie Farms was a lovely reminder that not everyone feels like they only should work till the end of their shift and a second more is them doing you a favour. Delicious wine, knowledgeable staff that was enthusiastic and willing to help, and a gorgeous new tasting room - a definite 5/5 experience.

My favourite Joie rosé was already sold out for the season, but I found a new favourite, the En Famille Gewurztraminer. It was so good that we decided to get a bottle to complement our pizza. They are now closed for the season and will open back up in May. I highly recommend coming here for a relaxing afternoon, just sitting in the picnique area!

The Gamy Noir is so easy drink so perfect for summertime with a variety of food. The log cabin housing the shop is beautiful and cozy. The family who runs the winery also lives on the estate in another log house. There is live music in the summertime and guest are welcome to bring their own picnic to enjoy on their patio with their wines. On my next visit, we will be stopping by with our own picnic to enjoy their wines and to chat it up with Anna!

This small vineyard can trace its roots back to Germany from the early 1800's though the Canadian company itself is only about 30 or 40 years old. Having said that this boutique winery offers outstanding wines in small batches as well as cider due to a fire that an aged damaged their grape crop the previous year while they still had flourishing apples on the property. Stopping by the store we learnt the familial history of the owner and how they trace their roots back to Germany's wine country. We enjoyed sampling several of their white, red and frizzante wines as well as cider for a small fee of $15 which was refunded because one of our group purchased a selection of wine. The tasting is $5 non-refundable but you get 7-8 pours. Terry is so knowledgeable, and he does not influence your taste bus buds but works with you to find your best taste. Two years ago, I bough their rose but this time I bought the 2022 Pinot Meunier ($24 including tax and bottle deposit). Terry also suggested another local small family winery for their Gamay Noir - which we also loved. Thornhaven's settling is beautiful with rows and rows of vines and peaks of the Okanagan Lake and hilltops. Buying a bottle or glass of wine and you can bring in our own picnic to enjoy on the patio or the Adirondack chairs.

They even grow their food right on site. For dessert we had the lemon tart and espresso ice cream. The lemon tart was the star of the show, not too tart not too sweet. We were seated quickly and our server was attentive and helpful. There was even a little dog going around to greet the customers!! One thing to note is that they do not take reservations, so I would recommend getting there early to ensure a table. Overall great experience and I can't wait to come back.

We tasted a few that we liked and we all left with 2 bottles a piece. The young man who did our tasting was great and told us a lot about the wine. The lady who cashed us out was wonderful, friendly and told us about their wine points and we got $5 off our purchase for signing up. Great wine, just a bit busy and touristy for me.

They have two areas to do their tasting outside; we opted for the tasting inside. Our pourer was younger but very informative and fun. We were given a couple bonus pours. Bottles are in the $19.00 to $45.00 price range. One of the few wineries that show prices with the taxes included. - 2021 Pinot gris - slightly off dry. Fairy solid. - 2021 Bench white - a bit on the sweet side (from the gewurztraminer) with a tropical note. - 2021 Rosé - made from pinot noir grapes. Mostly strawberry and cream notes. - 2020 Pinot noir - medium-bodied with a bit of tartness from the sour cherry. - 2020 Syrah - more full bodied but drier than we expected. The peppercorn came through. - 2020 Tempranillo - more herbaceous, a touch smoky and smooth.
