One of the highlights for me was how inclusive the food selection felt. I had a really tasty vegan curry and some churros that definitely hit the spot. The entertainment was nonstop. There's live music, plenty of shows to check out, and even jousting, which was so fun to watch. It's also super family-friendly--I saw lots of strollers, wagons, and wheelchairs, and everything seemed really accessible and easy to navigate. I love that your ticket covers entry without any extra hassle no paying for parking or dealing with a complicated ticket system just to buy food. That made the whole experience feel more relaxed and enjoyable. I'm thinking about making this an annual tradition. Definitely recommend checking it out! While driving in there were several people guiding everyone where to park. Pay attention to the section you park so you don't get lost finding your way back when you are ready to leave. After parking we walked up to the Faire entrance, someone scanned our tickets and we were in. Once we were in we walked around. We watched some live music by Amanda Kitchens Carnival Sound Band. We shopped and I bought two crowns from Medieval Metal. We watched jousting and sword fighting. We ate pizza from Dante's, fries, and a Pineapple Dole Soft Serve from Robin's Kitchen and Sweets. Overall it was a fun filled Faire Day.

I think they learned a lesson last year when the crowds were too large for their usual stage for the Merle Haggard concert. Kudos for recognizing the problem and creating a solution. On Sunday night, Earl Thomas Conley put on a great show. He sang his hits and a few not so well known songs, for a good mix of his music. Friday night was BJ Thomas and the Triumphs. Word is they were really good as well. The fair continues to be a lot of fun. We go every year and always have a lot of fun. A season pass was only $35 and you get 4 nights of entertainment included. If you enjoy county fairs, put this one on your calendar for next Labor Day.

We went to the concert for a little while but we left early because we knew that the traffic could be horrible. Oy. My head has a hurtie. That is to say, I had way too much fun at Austoberfest yesterday! When I…read morewas told there would be free samples, I assumed they would be tiny and boy was I wrong! We were each given a very tall pilsner glass and 10 generous samples per person. I waved the tipsy flag about 5 in after eating approximately one million pounds of sausage. My favorite link of the day was from La barbecue. It was smoky, spicy, savory, and delicious. I also enjoyed the warm pretzel we shared and awesome kraut. My husband was especially excited that the Derailers were playing and I somewhat remember watching a few songs. I would like to thank all of those who made Austoberfest such an amazing event, the fun loving people of Yelp Austin for granting me access, my German heritage for creating in me a love of all things brews and brats, and metro for being my DD so that all I had to do was wobble myself back to the station and enjoy an air conditioned drunken snooze back home. In addition, I would also like to thank the pecan street festival going on next door who made the funnel cake I just had to have. My only regret was not taking more pictures at the event, especially in the funky cool set up photo booth, but there is always next year! Until we meet again, Prost!

Held in the small town of Hallettsville, TX, the Kolache Fest is a cool and tasty way to have a…read more fun day. There's lots to see and hear as well as many delicious things to eat! The Kolache Fest is held at the Knight of Columbus Hall in Hallettsville., TX. It consists of games, arts and crafts booths, a classic car show, live polka music, dancing, a BBQ judging, food demos, a Biergarten and of course kolaches. The kolaches are provided by Kountry Bakery. As we drove past the restaurant itself we noticed how packed it was. After trying their kolaches at the festival, we can understand why it was so crowded. The kolaches are great. We wanted to try them all. Kolaches are sold at the festival by the half dozens and available in fruit varieties, cream cheese and as they call them, "pig" (sausage) with and without cheese and jalapeño. The events themselves are held at various times and offer something for everyone. Besides the above listed events there are many more - too many to list! We especially liked the food demos and the crocodile show as well as the classic cars. The live polka music and bands were talented and put on a lively, toe tapping show. Food items for sale are homemade by some very good bakers and benefit some well deserving organizations. Homemade sweets make any event that much better. There is lots of seating in a covered pavilion with huge ceiling fans that give relief from some of the heat. Hallettsville is a small town and this event has a big turnout so arriving early is the best way to ensure good parking although the lot is large. A trivia bit we learned is that it is the only town in the world with the name Hallettsville. It has the friendly, welcoming, small town type warmth that isn't always found within they city. If you like good food and friendly festivities the Kolache Fest is something you'll enjoy.
