I went in for a routine hair cut and added on a scalp detoxing service and let me tell you, your scalp is going to feel INCREDIBLE. The hair cut was good and my hair feels light and soft. When it comes to dye my hair, I always chicken out because I was so used to my plain brown hair, but after my appointment with Symyra I left so happy and confident with the results. Moved to Chicago 6 months ago, and first found Lik Salon on Groupon, so I thought I'd give it a try! The deal was for: a Haircut, Style, and Deep-Conditioning Treatment. I made my appointment with Marcelino, and could not have walked out happier! This haircut was in August 2021, and safety precautions and cleanliness was tip-top, especially during the unsafe times, it is great that they take social distancing, masking, and cleaning protocols seriously! From start to finish, Marcelino took great care of my hair, and listened careful, then we discussed, and then he executed! The wash, and conditioning treatment was quick, and I definitely think the treatment did a great job softening my hair for about a dozen washes. Had some wonderful conversations with Marcelino, about our backgrounds, heritage, food, language and we even cross-shared recommendations (some of which I even tried out and were fabulous). Best of all, I loved the way my hair dried naturally after the cut, or if I blow-dried or used a straightener or curler. It is as if Marcelino completely understood the magic of my hair and listening to its curves to make it flow beautifully! He checked in at every step and asked questions and gave me some pointers. Unfortunately over the holidays Marcelino did not have an appointment for when I needed it, so I will be trying out a different salon, but I cannot wait to be back so Marcelino can breathe some more magic into my hair! Highly recommend for your next haircut, he is an absolute pro! They also take payment via Zelle, Venmo , Debit card or Cash. Note: if you want to use a credit card, it is a $2.00 fee for processing. I usually don't review salon because and so picky with my hair BUT Lik salon..... Oooooh my gosh!!! I don't even know where to start. I got there wanting to try something different but had no idea what I wanted. However, Marge (one of the owners btw) was incredibly nice, helpful, and patient with me from the beginning to the end. She captured the idea of me and taaada, I got an amazing hair cut that I couldn't be more excited about! I wanted this style so long ago but I wasn't that confident until Marge convinced me. Also, the place is huge and the location amazing which when I got in I thought oh oh this is gonna be expensive but prices are reasonable for the place, the people, the environment... for everything!!! To be honest I loved their restroom lol I know but it was so nice and relaxing that I wanted to sleep there. No issues with parking because the have their own parking lot but if it's busy you can park on front without any trouble. 100% recommended it!!! This salon is amazing! I wanted to do something different and I decided to have some braids done! They no only specialized in braids but also coloring, hair styles, and hair extensions ( May be more those are the ones I saw ) and they also have bridal packages!! What to expect during COVID-19!? Face mask required to entry, following by hand sanitizer provided, and temperature check! All staff wears face mask! And you are more than 6 feet apart from other customers! The staff is super friendly and helpful! The place is clean and they constantly cleaning after customer ! Prices are very affordable. 100% recommended! I'm definitely coming back! HIDDEN GEM IN THE CITY!! Let me express, it is always a worry of mine going to a new salon being that I have thick, course, curly hair but throw into the equation bringing your grandmother in for a haircut as well can make things a little nerve wrecking! Luckily, when we walked in we were definitely put at ease and welcomed. My grandmother received her haircut by Angie-which was a total sweet heart! My grandmother primarily speaks Spanish and it was awesome that Angie did too and they were able communicate effectively exactly the type of cut my grandma was going for and Angie executed it hands down! My grandma was a happy camper and said this would be her salon to visit upon her next visit from Florida. My experience: I received a cut from Margarita who I learned is also the owner of the salon. I expressed to her I dread getting a haircut because I feel with my hair type a lot gets taken off or places haven't been able to get the layers right especially since I also like wearing my natural curly hair at times. I also expressed to her I have been trying to really keep my hair healthy and have been using oils daily especially at the ends and she recommended a deep conditioning mask while we did the wash, which I am so happy she did because it left my hair silky and shiny! Loved how she did the blow out and also added some beach waves to it which looked amazing with the balayage I previously had! A couple of details that might be minor to some but major for me. -I loved that they carried my fave coffee which is Bustelo! -As Margarita was washing my hair I asked if she knew of any places that does eyebrow waxing because I was in dire need of getting mine done and to my surprise the salon also has waxing services and she did my eyebrows while my hair sat a few minutes with the deep conditioning treatment! -The salon has a restroom with a discoball! Need I say more!? -The salon is doggy friendly :) -Owner and staff very sweet, welcoming and knowledgeable -Salon is very clean, well kept and bathroom was clean! read more
