Aries was incredible. This was my first-ever spa experience, and I couldn't have asked for a better…read moreintroduction. I booked a massage with a back scrub, hot stones, and the CBD add-on, and the whole experience felt thoughtful, professional, and genuinely relaxing from start to finish. Aries made sure I was comfortable, checked in on pressure and preferences, and made everything feel easy. The back scrub was such a nice touch and left my skin feeling refreshed. The hot stones were unbelievably soothing and helped release a lot of tightness in my back. The CBD add-on was the perfect finishing touch--I left feeling calm, loose, and recharged. Highly recommend booking with Aries if you want someone who's truly skilled and attentive.

This is the Fredericksburg location. No idea about the Culpepper location…read more The only reason it isn't five stars is the physical structure. It is in an absolutely gorgeous old home converted to a business. Hardwood floors, beautiful details....and A LOT of stairs! There is no way to get in without stairs :( they do have back stairs, which are easier-ish to navigate, but still not amazing. The massage rooms are in the basement. at least UP the stairs is after they've worked out the kinks. lol I have had a lot of injuries and often use a cane, so i always have to weigh how much help i need versus how many stairs i can manage. But once i'm there, i am NEVER disappointed! Been going there off and on for many years. Beth, Dan, Kevin...i've lost track! All of them phenomenal. I always feel better after seeing them. I usually get medical massage due to my injuries and they don't disappoint. The only thing i don't like is something they can't change - the building. And I really do love the building. Just wish i were less broken :( i think the culpepper location is a storefront? not sure. maybe try there if you're not able to do stairs. it's too far for me and i love my peeps in Fxbg.

This was my first time using Hand & Stone services and only my second experience with getting a…read moreprofessional massage. My husband purchased a gift card for me to surprise me with a massage for Christmas He was told at the time of purchase, that if he spent extra to add on services to exfoliate my hands and feet, then he would have spent enough money to qualify for an additional $50 promotional gift card. When he asked what that was for, he was told by staff that customers typically use the promotional cards as part of the gratuity portion of the bill of service to tip the staff, so my husband spent the extra money to get the promotion under the impression that I would be able to make an appointment and just come in, be treated, and be able to pay for services and gratuity with his gift cards that now hold over $200 in monetary value. I was instructed to arrive 15 minute prior to my 50 minute session to fill out paperwork which I did, however the extensive questionnaire took longer than the 15 minute timeframe allotted, and then afterwards the staff at the front desk proceeded to further ask me questions about what I wanted to get out of my massage appointment that was now cut 10 minutes short due to their pre-operative interrogation. When I presented my gift card and promotional gift card and stated my intentions for payment, I was informed by the front desk staff that the promotional cards cannot be used for gratuity and can only be used for add-on treatments. I told her about my husband's experience and she was unwavering, stating that he was given incorrect information and that I can use the promotion another time, or to add on a service if I wanted to. I asked her if I could then pay for the add-on services that my husband signed me up for with the promotional card and then use what was left on my gift card for gratuity, and the staff looked at me like I was not making any sense whatsoever. At this point the masseuse has come out to the front desk because we are now almost 20 minutes into my massage session and I felt like the front desk staff was looking and treating me as though I was the most frugal human on the planet. I had to clarify in front of the masseuse that my issue was not with providing gratuity, I was simply trying to use all of what my husband has gifted me and that this was not what he was sold, this was a big miscommunication. I was extremely uncomfortable with how this confusion was being handled. No one was sympathetic or understanding accept my masseuse, Connie. Connie was the only positive part of the entire experience. As soon as she guided me back to her room, I completely broke down in tears and explained how humiliated I felt. She was so understanding and professional and treated me with the utmost respect and kindness. I spent half of my already cut in half massage experience in tears, and she maintained complete composure and she helped relax me with her own calming presence. When my session was finished, I was met back at the front by the original staff where she asked how my experience what and I responded that it went fine. Then she asked if I wanted to book my next appointment and I declined, and then I respectfully asked to just be shown where I could leave my gratuity so that I could leave. She then made me stand there while she reviewed the membership program to me even though it was clear that I was not interested and I even told her I was not interested in a membership program, I still had to listen to the presentation while trying to leave a tip for Connie. Once I finally could leave, I called my husband from my car in tears and apologized for wasting his expensive and thoughtful Christmas gift to me. This was the worst experience I have ever had from something that was supposed to be a loving treat. I truly feel like my husband was completely taken advantage of that day when he first walked in, just wanting to buy me a nice and thoughtful present.
