There are softball fields, a kids play grounds, plenty of hiking trails and a beautiful large lake and dock. We spent a few hours hiking the trails. They are well maintained and the views are breath taking. The lake is large and beautiful and looks to house several species of fish. There is a board walk and two floating docks on each side for shore fishing. We plan to come back with our kayaks for a day of fishing. There are picnic tables and a few BBQ grills. Perhaps a picnic lunch and then kayaking. The park is dog friendly with a leash. Lots of people walking and enjoying the quiet scenery and fall weather. You won't want to pass up West Ashley Park.

Geoff is very patient and really helped us get the hang of things We caught some red fish and trout and some small shark (which were a ton of fun to catch). Capt. Geoff was happy to help out with our casting and offered tips when we were fighting the bigger fish. His boat and the gear he provides are excellent. Very high quality stuff. Highly recommend booking a charter especially if you would like to see a new side to the lowcountry. His rates are very competitive. I would absolutely use Geoff for another charter (and probably will when I go back to Charleston in January).

I love the historical nature of it and how the city has created signs to teach you about the history. I walked about a mile and a half and then turned around and walked back. Lots of after school teenagers going on their run, families on bikes, and regular walkers like me! The West Ashley Greenway is a wonderful asset to our community.

I booked a historical tour of Charleston online. I received an email reminder twice. Meeting…read moreplace and time. And the name and cell# of the tour guide. We met in front of Tommy Condon Irish Pub. There's a convenient parking garage across the street. Our reservation was Sunday at 9:30am. Free street parking on Sunday as long as you don't park in the one hour residential designated streets. Scott was our local tour guide for the historical tour of Charleston. He was on time. Before the tour started he informed everyone of the bathroom situation. On our two hours tour he made sure our group didn't block the narrow sidewalks. The historical tour included stops in front of - * St Philips church * Dock Theater * the Old Slave Mart * the Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon * the harbor * the old city wall * Rainbow Row * Nathaniel Russell house The tour was a great way for us to familiarize ourselves with the historical district. Then on our own we picked and chose where we wanted to spend more time. Scott offered places to dine suggestions. We actually went to one he suggested on Sullivan Island. He's passionate and offers a thorough tour within the two hours timeframe.
