The director's foster son terrorized my son and all of the other kids, I witnessed it with my own eyes. My son was afraid to speak up and the director always acted clueless, yet my son would end up with lumps on his forehead and deep scratches from her foster kid and another taller boy. My son became angry and defiant and he literally hasn't been the same since he attended Kiddie Academy. They let the kids do whatever they wanted to him and when he'd retaliate he was the one who was written up. Finally stood up to the director's foster son and he was kicked out for it. There were also older boys (3rd/5th grade) who were mixed in with the kindergarten class. They older boys would instruct my son to say and do terrible things, and he'd be written up as if it was his idea. My son might not ever be the same after dealing with all of that on a daily basis and I wish I had never placed him there, I feel so guilty about it. He didn't begin speaking up until after I stopped taking him. He wouldn't even speak up because no one ever had his back. If you have a child of color, they will be seen as the aggressor and not the victim. My son was definitely a victim and it changed his entire personality. The director is the problem for allowing her foster son to behave the way he did. He wasn't suspended like the rest of the kids, he did whatever he wanted. A Very dangerous little boy. Name begins with a "B" so listen to your kids and watch out for that one.

They know me personally and always say hello. My Pre-K child knows things that some adults can't tell you and my baby is using baby sign language. Hi, families/ parents!…read more My first son entered KinderCare learning center at Paxson Lane in Newark in 2018. At only five months old, I had many concerns sending my very vulnerable and non-speaking baby to a daycare center. My job leads me into many daycare facilities regularly. I can honestly tell you that many daycare facilities are poorly ran, unsanitary, and revolve with new staff constantly...but not this one. My son was instantly greeted with love, and compassion. I was a new parent sending my sweet baby into a building with a bunch of strangers. I couldn't think of anything more anxiety-provoking. I remember his first day, I called the center twice to check on my guy. Not only that, but they have an app where they post photos very frequently, and you can nearly see what your little one is doing all day. At the end of the day, you receive a full report of your babe. You see what they ate (or, in my case how many ounces of each bottle), diaper changes, and nap times and lengths of time. My sons first teacher became such a huge positive, loving, and educational person in his life. She is truly one of the sweetest people I can think of. I can honestly tell you that all five of the teachers that my son has been with have genuinely cared and loved him, and have strived to ensure he thrives. There was no hesitation to send our second son to KCLC at 12 weeks old, when I had to return to work. The center is genuinely a staff of family (not literally), but every single person that's there (I do know them all by name) is truly awesome. Their positivity, happy attitudes, and genuine commitment to serving our children are unlike anything I have seen at other daycares. There is truly no better feeling then dropping your child off in the morning and knowing that they will be cared for exceptionally. Both of my children are absolutely thriving and come home with new skills daily. The center has gone through so many changes with COVID, and they are going through so many extra steps to keep the children safe and sanitary. I could go on and on about our KCLC family, but I can assure you, you will not regret sending your child here.

That is until the…read morepool regulations changed to include a ridiculous enforcement of foam rubber life jackets for children that were not able to pass the swim test. I had been taking my grand daughter there for years and she learned to swim under water and on her back quite well but this past summer someone decided to enforce strict rules that all children without the swim bands had to wear a marshmallow life jacket which restricts every free water movement and prohibits the kids from enjoying the pool. (I totally understand safety and agree 100% that babies need floatation devices around water; however, my grand daughter is 7 and loved going to the Y to swim FREE!!! She increased her swim technique with every visit until that ridiculous restriction was enforced. I tried explaining to the Manager at Elkton, a young man out to make a name for himself as a stoic leader, but he refused to even have a discussion in common sense! The Y has always had strict rules that requires an adult to be IN THE WATER with a non-swimmer and all non-swimmers must stay on the shallow end of the pool which is roped off. Very good and sensible rules indeed! And that along with a waiver is all that should be needed to have a good time at ANY pool! Sadly, I stopped my memberships and until common sense prevails....I will not be back! There are other pools that do not have ridiculous rules and we were able to enjoy many beautiful days over the past summer! I hope this message is read and taken into consideration because I really loved my local Y and the staff are awesome folks!!!
