I've had the opportunity to visit Lila Studio several times-but not for yoga, for dancing. Occasionally, another group takes over the space and holds social dance parties in the studio. There are multiple spaces-the lobby/lounge area has several couches and seats to hang out in, then the main studio space where the event takes place and then more seating in smaller rooms in the back. It's a neat space that has both a tranquil/peaceful vibe as well as a cool social vibe. I love all the live plants-they just add to the overall experience. Parking can be dicey-as with anywhere along this street. But once the construction is done, it might be a little easier to navigate. read more

Deceptive billing practices, mixed levels of instruction. After receiving notice that the business had closed its doors, I assumed the automated billing would cease and took myself off the email list (already too many emails.) Big mistake as the business later reopened and had never ceased automated billing. When I discovered what had transpired I reached out to the owner, who (while vacationing in Bali) offered to give reimburse me, through in-house credit, for 10% of the amount I had been billed over the last year. Given that I had experienced very mixed levels of instructional expertise in my past classes at Lila, the whole experience with them is thus negative. It certainly drives home the point that yoga studios are just for-profit businesses at the end of the day, and hold no ethical 'high ground'. read more

Very tranquil and peaceful studio with awesome classes. Only complaint is that the studio has numerous (beautiful) plants along the back wall that harbor a lot of bugs. If you set up your mat on this side of the room there will be bugs everywhere read more

I love this place. It's so beautiful and serene. All of the teachers are very well trained. There is definitely a spiritual connection that you feel at the end of class. I would recommend to everyone. I purchased the 5 class per month. It's only $45. It's a perfect start off amount. I also suggest the Ariel yoga it is a blast. My husband and I were married here!! I found it on a photographers website and fell in love! We continued the search around but we never found something we liked more than Avenues Yoga! Chanda, the manager of the studio, was very accommodating! The space was intimate and charming and offered a peaceful and welcoming environment for our guests. Our decorations were minimal and the aesthetic of the studio complimented our style perfectly! Everything ran so smoothly. Chanda did an excellent job with our wedding reception. We paid for the most inclusive option but it was totally worth and still very reasonable compared to a lot of other local venues that gouge you just because it's a wedding. I actually got to sit back and enjoy my reception instead of having to plan and worry about every little detail. I basically dropped off the drinks, hired a caterer (you can choose whoever you want) and a small band, and the rest was taken care of by the studio. Flowers, table decorations, picture corner, bar tender, ALL of it. I can't imagine having to do all that myself that day. Looking at some pictures from other wedding receptions it also seems like they do a really good job of still keeping each reception individual and with a little different style. While visiting SLC, I attended a Power Yoga class taught by Sarah and enjoyed myself thoroughly. The studio is housed inside a lovely historic building (formally a mercantile), which is spacious, welcoming and full of warm vibes. Lovely light and feel to the whole place. Took the Restore & Nidra class - loved it. Very relaxing + rejuvenating.

This place is just incredible. The teachers are all different, and offer a lot of variety. I'll give a run down on teachers I practice with frequently. Bailey- Her classes are very traditional, hands on, and fiery. Take her class if you want a great challenge. Becka- Her teaching style is light hearted, but still physically challenging. I would say take her class if you want something less serious, and more about play, challenge, and experimentation. Kate- She has a very flow/vinyasa style. Great for any level, and offers a bit of everything. Chanda- Now what can I say about this wonderful lady. She is the owner of the studio, and usually teaches Hatha. She gives a very spiritual class that will leave you feeling changed in one way or another. She offers so much knowledge, wisdom, and care in the studio. I urge everyone and anyone to take her class, especially if you like restore, introspective, and spiritual yoga. read more

I love this place. Teachers are legit. Classes are challenging but welcoming. The space is charming and has character. Somehow, these antique wood floors and brick walls seem more conducive to yoga practice than the sterile studios I've seen other places. The space can occasionally be a bit crowded on weekend and evening classes, but most of the classes I've attended have had plenty of space. More than any place I've been, the teachers are good about inquiring how everyone's doing and customizing classes to meet the needs of those present, especially in smaller classes. I'm not the most advanced yoga student, but they've never given a pose too difficult for me without offering an option I could do. On the flip side, I've never felt like they were holding back in a class simply to allow less-experienced students (me) to keep up. Everyone, both teachers and students, seems genuinely interested in helping each other to grow and advance in their practice. read more

Love this studio! The space is stunning, in a historic building with timber floors, exposed brick walls and a full wall window looking out into a shady residential street. Though the styles all are different, I've not had an instructor here I didn't like. Faith is my favorite, she adds some challenging variation options (only if you choose, of course) and positive encouragement. Good collection of mats, blocks, straps, pillows and blankets available for free, so no need to lug around personal gear, especially if you are just visiting town. They're on mind body scheduler, which makes it easy for me to find and book classes whenever I'm in the mood for some yoga! read more

We were visiting from out of town and stopped by for a one class drop-in. The charge was $15 per person and mats were available to borrow for free. The instructor was very welcoming, and so were the other students who chatted with us before and after class. I usually attend hot, power flow yoga classes back home. We had our wedding reception at Avenue's Yoga in May, 2017. Chanda was so great and friendly to work with. The event turned out exactly how I had always wanted it! We had a fun fire pit in the side gravel, a miniature donkey in the backyard, a taco truck cater the event, and a high-energy crowd inside the yoga center. I had numerous friends come to me and express their love for the venue. The exposed brick, open windows, and bistro lights made the location feel like a dream. The venue price was in our budget. I would recommend this place 10/10. As mentioned in other reviews, make sure you're aware of the space and how many people you have invited. I'm not the typical yoga student. I'm awkward, kinda pudgy, not very graceful or flexible. Some studios I've tried, I left feeling embarrassed because I felt inadequate with all the amazing regulars that attended the classes. I've always felt welcome and comfortable here. I've been attending fairly regularly for the last few months and it's been wonderful. The instructors are all very friendly and helpful. For those of you that might be reading this that are yoga experts, I know that they have a lot of advanced classes, too. Some of the instructors will actually sing or play musical instruments at the end of some classes. I feel like each class is always a unique and refreshing experience. I have chronic back pain that has been helped a lot with yoga, and it's helped my stress management, too. Try this place out, the first class is free! read more

Being an out of towner I emailed first to ask about first time guest specials. Amazingly they offer 1 class complimentary. I was so delighted to have Mary for Para-Yoga in the evening time for over an hour. Her flexibility in tty class between adjustments and her direction is unmatched. I've been doing yoga in California for 3 years.. and she whooped my butt back into the groove to where I thought I had reached my limited she would softly turn and lift my positions to comfortably achieve my goal. If i lived here I would by a membership today! Plus, they have a clean spot, extra yoga mats just in case and friendly staff. read more

The teachers are wonderful and give great one-on-one advice for all experience levels. They made me feel welcome and unintimidated. My favorite part of doing yoga here is the studio space. Floor to ceiling windows, a beautiful back garden patio, high ceilings, exposed brick, clean and airy. I've seen them donate at community events and do free lessons at the Avenues library, which I appreciate. I only wish they had more classes at night and on the weekends. read more

I love Avenues Yoga! I started practicing yoga about four years ago at a local gym. I was looking to deepen my practice so I started checking out some studios. I shopped around for awhile and was so happy when I found Avenues--it is by far my favorite. The best way to describe it is humble and down to earth. Walking through the door feels like home. The atmosphere is welcoming and non-competitive. The teachers are knowledgable and caring. I told one of the teachers I was concerned about a recent injury so she cued the entire class with modifications to help me--so unexpected and kind of her. I look forward to my Avenues class every week. The classes are an opportunity to slow down, relax, and recenter, which is so needed for me after a long week.
