I 'm old enough and experienced enough that I am rarely shocked by anything, but I was truly shocked by this review. And I have to respond. I've been shopping Steinert's for more than 10 years and could not be a happier customer. I've also learned that the nursery has been in business for more than a century, has been operated by Theta Steinert for more than 40 years, and is known throughout the Ozarks as a source of excellent plant stock and superb customer service. Contrary to Ms. W.'s review, the nursery is so good with customers, so caring, kind, and helpful, that it has legions of devoted patrons; in fact, many of the nursery's original customers from 40 years ago still shop there. It might also be noted that Theta Steinert's kindness and generosity extend to having provided all of the 190 roses that made the creation of the Rose Garden in the Springfield Botanical Gardens possible and she continues to provide its roses today. She also donates many, many plants to community gardens and other enterprises. I think Ms. W.'s reference to "their wrinkly old fingers" reveals the true spirit of her review. It is, in a word, mean-spirited. It appears also to be wildly inaccurate. Theta Steinert has no memory whatever of Ms. W. or any "green bean incident' or "tripping incident". As for the latter, I can assure you from all my dealings with Steinert's over the years that Ms. Steinert and her workers would never, ever laugh at another person's misfortune. I know them as extremely caring people. I have also seen them carry out countless transactions with other customers while waiting to be served and have never once seen the least sign of rudeness. Steinert's commercial success through the years has been phenomenal, and in great part due to an unassailable reputation for caring customer service, contrary to Ms. W.'s review. Anyone who cares to verify these facts and get the real Steinert's story need only visit the nursery. Thank you.
