I brought a dress in to see if I could get it altered for an event. I could tell she seemed busy, so I asked if I could have it done by a certain date. She told me to just try it on and once I did. She said that she couldn't do anything because of the material and also said that her time is valuable and didn't have any time for this alteration. I totally get that she may have been busy, but it was so rude and why make me even try it on if she knew she didn't have time? I came in with my wedding dress and instead of politely turning me away because she's too busy, she had me try it on only to insult me that I bought a dress way too big. Isn't the point of me bringing my dress to you is so you can resize it? She rudely told me it's too big and I need to buy a new one that's smaller otherwise I'd be spending way more money on alterations than the dress. I believe she quoted me over $1000. I've never been treated so badly before by someone I tried to give my business to. Instead I took my dress to a nice man in midtown Ventura, shop called Manuel's. A real tailor. He said he'd have it ready for me a week before my wedding and said the size was no issue and he could fix it and quoted me $125. Give that man your business, he knows what he's doing!! read more

I came to Lili on the verge of a mental breakdown. My wedding dress (which had taken 8 months to come in) arrived too small as the bridal shop had ordered the wrong size. My wedding was in less than 4 months and the recommended alterations place from the bridal shop estimated the cost of my alterations would be around $1900 and "it won't be the dress you purchased". Desperate, I called around to local alterations shop and found my fairy godmother, Lili. She evaluated the dress and immediately had a plan that would preserve the dress and cost less than half of what I was originally quoted. I went to Lili's to get my bridesmaid dress hemmed. I thought it would need additional work since I purchased it a little bit because I'm recently pregnant but all it needed was a hook added to the top of the zipper and it was perfect. To be fair the work Lili did on hemming a bridesmaid dress was good but she asked for 6 weeks to finish the job and when that 6 weeks came she had not done it yet but she made up excuses and lied trying to buy herself more time. When I showed up 2 days later to pick up my dress she hadn't finished it yet. this was all days before the wedding that was out of town. This is my first time needing an alteration shop in the area and decided to visit Lili's based off of the reviews. I was hoping she'd be able to help with a small alteration but instead turned us away. She had my daughter try on the outfit and then said that she didn't think that it needed any alterations when that clearly is not the case. The neckline of the outfit is saggy and she rudely said that I should just iron it. Not sure if she was too busy to help or maybe she just wasn't interested in this type of alteration. After finding a new alteration shop that was able to help, I was told that they've heard from other customers who have been turned away and told similar things. I dropped off my wedding gown on 7/2 for alterations. She gave me a receipt of what needed to be done (hem and bustle only) and it would be ready on 8/27. She called on 8/22 to confirm when the wedding was and she told me she was working on it. I didn't hear from her again so I called on 9/1 to get an update. She said she was working on the bustle and not to worry. I called again on 9/7 because the only day I can come was that weekend. My wedding was on 9/18! I mentioned to her this time the ticket said 8/27 and she just replied "I know". I was honestly shocked at how rude she was. She never once apologized or told me she was behind. She just stated again that she was working on the bustle. I called her on 9/9 because she still hadn't given me an estimate and again she said she's working on the bustle and would call me back with a price. She never called me back and when I got to the store the following morning she has a sign that says "cash only". Extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism and consideration. Luckily my dress looked perfect but I would not recommend her simply because of the stress this all caused me during such an important time. read more

I went in and hopes of having something altered altered but she the owner I'm assuming said no that they she could not do that alteration.. All I wanted was added some fabric so I could slip into a vest a best but before I could even explain she just told me no. I understood that there was no give on my vest but was offering ideas on how to make it work from another business suggested and it was no,no and no. she said that she was too busy to do any alteration but I didn't even give her a time frame. I just thought it was very rude the response. She did however suggest someone else even though it was a bit passive aggressive, hence why it inst a 1 star review. I felt very comfortable going to her and she was so nice and honest and she really gives it her all to make it happen. She shortened my gown and made a custom overskirt applicable to my dress and fixed my mesh ripped area and fitted the sides, she added buttons so I can hang the Bustles of the dress since it had a long train I will forever go to Lili for any alterations and she did an amazing job on my bridal dress, she's very knowledgeable and fast. I want to give special thanks to Lili's Alterations. I needed to get some alterations made for the next day. Unfortunately, when you are a vertically and horizontally challenged man with everything you buy, you get to know a tailor. I went for years to Eldin at Camarillo Cleaners as he had a tailor in house for 35 years. He jokingly said, "She couldn't take it anymore after 35 years." Camarillo cleaners still do alterations, but they send them out. I was in a jam and went to Lili's. I told her I needed them for a meeting and she took care of them without issue. She did s tremendous job and excellent turnaround time. Her prices are a bit more than Eldin at Camarillo Cleaner, but when you needed alterations done well and quickly, there is going to be no price too high for her gift. Unfortunately, I don't think God will make me taller or thinner after 45 plus years on earth. I think you have to buy nice clothes, and make sure they fit. I had been looking for a new alterations place after a bad experience at another place. (Never go to a dry cleaner to do your alterations!) I had found Lili's "by accident" while cruising Google Maps and saw all the 5-star reviews. I had two skirts that needed minor repairs, and a pair of sweatpants (sentimental value!) that needed new elastic. Lili's store is about the size of a postage stamp and charmingly furnished. You get a real hint of boutique Old World style and service such as you might find in Paris or Buenos Aires. She and her shop are just darling. Due to the convenient hours (open till 6pm) I swung by one day around 5:30pm after work. TBH, I was a little taken aback at the price quote, but I just decided to go ahead and do it. I'm SO GLAD I did! She did an incredibly professional job on my mending. You cannot see where she made any of the repairs, and the job she did on the sweatpants was actually BETTER than the original. (Yes, I just paid $25 to repair a $10 pair of ancient bright red White Stag sweatpants, but.. but.. they are my beloved Santa pants!) All three repairs cost me $40 (she accepts cash and checks). If you want high quality with no regrets, go to Lili. You definitely get what you pay for. On a side note, Lili has great personal style with candy pink lipstick and matching manicured nails. Plus, there are some tempting and super cute antique stores (and great architecture) on Palm Ave; it's one of the nicest areas in teeny-tiny but adorable Old Town Camarillo, and quick and convenient to get to both via Arneill and Lewis Rd. read more

Hem of pants was $10, she fixed a gap in a jean waist for $30, fixed a dress length for $20, fixed my work coat sleeves for $45 (with an added pen pocket)... so her prices are fairly common. She's real nice, gives a fair deal, and comes out perfect every time. So 5 stars all around. Btw- these are prices she quoted, they're isn't a standard pricing.
