We came to an agreement with him looking me in the eyes and shaking my hand and promising me to put the engine in that I wanted and to do the job right. I shared with him the contact information and emails from the engine builder. Thru ordering and installation process I stopped in and talked with the owner a couple of times he always reassured me that he had ordered the exact engine that I asked for even telling me that he contacted the representative with the information I provided and that they gave him the same price they quoted me. On one of these visits I had noticed one of his employees as a mechanic around town that I knew that had prior bad experiences with I shared this information with the owner and explain to him I do not want that person touching my vehicle, his response is that he trusted the guy my response was as long as you take full responsibility for anything that happens to my truck while in your shop. He agreed and assured me there will be no problems. The only change to our agreement on this was the owners strong encouragement that my electric fans be removed and a clutch fan instead installed. I deferred to his expertise as the shop owner and agreed. This change was verbally agreed to . When the engine was installed and I picked it up I was able to drive the truck roughly maybe one half hour before the engine overheated badly it had to be towed back home. During and after this initial overheat, the only leaks discovered upon getting the truck towed home, was oil was dripping on the ground additionally there was coolant in the engine oil. Determined by a creamy appearance and smell and taste. The truck was then towed to the shop. The owner of the shop explained to me that the engine had overheated because there was no engine shroud. He explained that's no big deal for a new engine to overheat. When I asked him about the coolant in the engine oil he admitted that he did not check it. Yet made no offer or attempt to check on this fact. I asked them to put my electric fans back in which they did and did not charge me for. I feel that since it was the shops suggestion to remove my electric fans and put in a clutch fan it was their responsibility to make sure the fan shroud was installed (other mechanics I've spoken to have suggested that the fan shroud with the clutch fan was a common sense thing and are surprised that any legitimate qualified mechanic would overlook such a thing) it was their neglect that left it out. Additionally during this visit one of his mechanics told me that that was not the engine that I had asked for that the shop owner had instead ordered a cheaper one and  installed it... now up to this point the shop owner had repeatedly assured me he had honored our agreement for a very specific engine from a specific builder - when I confronted the shop owner about this he said well it matches specs specifications. This was never discussed and I would have never agreed to if he couldn't put the engine I wanted in I would have gone to somebody else. I took my truck home it continued to run hot I just drove it around town trying to get some opinions I kept trying to talk to the shop owner asking him to put the right engine in, to make things right, he has yet to honor the warranty and he has never taken responsibility. He has flat out refused to correct and bait and switch with the engine. Soon after this the truck overheated again well idling in my driveway it no longer leaked oil since they had fixed it when it was towed to their shop I am very proud that my vehicle do not leak on my driveway I have a nice looking driveway and overheated again I let it cool down called up the shop they told me bring it in I bring it in they pressure test my radiator and say my radiator is leaking this radiator was not leaking when it first overheated I had run the truck the night before for about half an hour until it started heating up again still no leaking I take it to a shop they pressure test it and it is now pouring coolant out both sides of the radiator. First the owner claimed he could not build up pressure to test it though I asked him how much  high did he pressurize it. He said to 15 lbs... But wait you just told me you couldn't build up pressure??? I'm now very frustrated he scammed me on my engine it's not a good engine. And he flat out refused to take responsibility after giving me his word.  So I drove the truck a mile home with coolant pouring out. I have since learned that there is a way to overpressurize a radiator to damage it and I believe that is possible that that's what he did since it was not leaking until it got to his shop. I've been trying to share my experience with others in the community and people associated with his himself or his shop have been making efforts to prevent me from sharing my experience.

Helped me in a jam. I found myself with a Bad alternator for My Nissan Altima V6 (this will make…read moresense why this matters later)This was confirmed by another auto shop. (Please look at the review of Andy's Auto repair). In a place I just moved to 3 weeks ago for work. So before taking my car over to the Butitta Brothers, I actually asked a gentlemen who is from here and knows everything about Janesville. He said the Butitta brothers is the only place his family, going back to his father has ever taken their cars. He said they were honest and upfront and guarantee their work. I called them up and spoke with Guy, the Service manager in Janesville. He said if I could get it over before noon they can get it done today. He already had explained that it was 4 hours of labor. This was fortunate, because obviously being away from home and my normal shop. I got it over to them at about 11:15. He gave me a reasonable and guaranteed quote for the work and said he'd try and help me out with a coupon, Guy understands that not everyone is prepared to pay for an alternator. He said we'll get it done as soon as we can but it will be today, but late. If we see anything else that really needs fixing/ replacement, then we will and we'll try and keep it close to the original quote.(The concern was the battery since the alternator wasn't functioning correctly). He also explained that if I had a 4 cylinder it would only cost half as much. (fun fact Nissan V6's are a pain to get repairs done on). Well i got a call nearly 4 hours later around 3:30 and it was Guy saying the car was ready, he said he put a guy on it right after I left. He also let me know over the phone that they had to replace the Serpentine belt(which drives various other supporting items, power steering, air conditioning, water pump). But he assured me he was going to keep it around the original quote. I got their and we discussed the condition of the serpentine belt. Glad he replaced it because I'll admit in 173,000 miles I never have changed it. The final out the door coast was less then my original quote. Guy and this shop was my savior. Explained the 2 year guarantee on parts and labor and explained their road side assistance/ towing plan if something happens in relation to my repair. Just an awesome first time experience with a shop and their people. (also when i was back at the coffee bar after i dropped off my car, the person who originally recommended them, other customers in the coffee bar said, this was also said that they were the only place they take their cars also) Butitta Brothers doesn't need my Review, they're word of mouth reputation speaks for itself. They're great and professional. I will recommend them to everyone as long as I am here.

We thought we had bad springs on our trip from Minnesota to South Carolina. We called BB to see if…read morethey could replace our springs. They said they couldn't but after hearing us describe what we thought was the problem, they insisted we bring the car in because they were worried about a potential catastrophic accident. Then as soon as we pulled in our car alarm started going off for no apparent reason. Once they got the alarm dealt with, they got the car up on the jack, had their guy look at it and turns out it wasn't the springs but something much more minor. They said we were good to continue our travels, but that we needed to get it checked as soon as we got back to SC. Most places would've taken one look at us as out of towners and tried to take us for all we were worth. Not Hadjii and his team. We even tried to tip them and they refused our money. Seriously, if you ever need anything done to your car, I don't care what it is, these are your guys. Honest, knowledgeable, morally upright and thorough. Makes me glad to know there are still some honest folks in this world. Hey, Yelp, you need a six-star rating for businesses like this.
