The size of the burgers quickly become enormous. You have been warned! There are no pictures of the burgers in the menu so although I though I ordered a standard burger option (the soprano- featuring blue cheese and bacon), it arrived and I learned this could only be attacked with a knife and fork, which is not what I originally envisioned. The music was nice, mainly 90s hip hop while I was there, and the walls are covered in graffiti, so it certainly has a cool vibe and the hog booths would make it great for meeting up with friends. I definitely see where they are trying to go with this restaurant. The issue that I had is the burger was a bit more novel than it was functional, making it difficult to eat and a bit unfulfilling as a burger (for the burger eating experience, not the burger size). I will admit that this may be based on my order. Hopefully there is an option for smaller burgers. If so, I'd try again. read more

Definitely not a good place to bring kids, even though they have high chairs. However, their burgers looked so good, and we had to have them, and thank you burger gods for this place doing to go orders. Thankfully our hotel was right across the street so didn't have to worry about extremely soggy burgers. The burgers are messy and there's ABSOLUTELY no right way to eat these monsters. I ordered the JFK and it was outstanding, my husband order the jack sparrow and was absolutely pleased, however we didn't even notice a difference between our burgers, but we enjoyed them anyways. The meat is balled up like a big ol' meat ball, and the onion ring was cooked to absolute perfection. We did order our burgers to be well done but however once we reached the center of the meat ball it was not cooked at all. However did stop us from just eating around it. This place does allow smoking on the inside, so please be aware of this if you're going to take child or if you don't like smoke. read more

The "fresh orange juice" appears to have been made by putting an entire orange, including the peel, into a blender. We paid 60€ for food that arrived stone cold, missing half of the items we paid for, and the other half not being what we ordered. The quality of the food might be ok, aside from the juice, if the order had been hot and correct. But we will be attempting to get a refund and we will never order from here again. read more

Overrated the place looks great offered me and my wife good customer service but the burger was just underwhelming. We ordered the JFK with a large order of curly fries which were awesome but the burger lacked any real endearing qualities other than being overloaded with way too many toppings that didn't truly bring any flavor to the beauty its self. As an American, I'm pretty discerning about my burgers and I can say that Lily Burger is the best burger I've had in Berlin thus far (vs. The Bird, BBI, Burgermeister, Tommi's). Yes, it's a big one (so you'll have to cut it in half) but the meat is high quality, super juicy, and toppings well-balanced. You'll be overwhelmed with choices (it feels like they have 50 options), I picked one with mushrooms, bacon, and cheddar cheese. Pro tip: Get the fried potato skins, they are incredible!! In a word - one crazy burger place, with burgers from your wildest dreams. Yes, it is pricy. Yes, it takes time. Yes, it is worth the wait. Longer version (for the brave) - it's been a while since my last review, due to plenty of reasons.. But something has to be said about this place. Reviews here were kind of misleading, but I came here through a personal tip from a fellow burger lover, and it was sooooo good. If you come here, prepare your cash as this place ain't cheap. But the menu is insane - you have over 20 types of "normal" burgers to choose from, starts with a simple patty and ends up in a crazy mixture of beef and chocolate, maple syrup and all sorts of stuff Not enough? You got special dishes of 500g and more Not enough? You can order a ten-party massive burger combo Veggie? Vegan? They got that sorted out too Feel like sweets? They got deep fried EVERYTHING - from your fav chocolate bars to ice cream Be warned, it will be hard to walk after this meal. When we arrived the place was rather empty so we were lucky enough to not wait for too long, and as the burgers came out it took me a few minutes to figure out how to take the first bite. I had the el partisan and my friend had the al kapone, it was a struggle but we managed to eat them all plus sweet potato fries. Keep in mind that when they say it's spicy - it's spicy, if you are a bit sensitive you better ask them to go easy on you. I love spicy food and the challenge was manageable for me but it did feel too spicy in several bites. Gonna let the pics do the talking for me. If you want to eat burgers like an American, come here! As a vegan, it's hard to find burgers in this city. A lot of places have veggie patties that have egg in them or are only served with cheese. Others have vegan burgers that are plain, or taste like mostly nothing. And then there's Lily Burger. While it's certainly not the best burger I've ever had, it may very well be the best vegan burger I've ever had in Berlin. And instead of just one or two options, they have a whole section of burgers that can be customized in a gazillion ways. I've had the bacon-cheese with seitan patty and onion rings added, and the chili-cheese with seitan patty, and both were good, though I think I preferred the former slightly more. The veg burgers also come with two free sauces, which is awesome. However, be warned: I got the habanero sauce on the side (it comes with a warning that it's "extra scharf") and it was HOT AF. I am not joking. This is not your German "hot" but real hot. We also got sweet potatoes once, which I liked, but which the fellow said were a bit too greasy/fried for him. He also wasn't a fan of the BBQ sauce (it was too sweet for him, but otherwise OK), which I loved, but he's German and I'm American, so no surprise there. As for the other details... the presentation is really nice. It's expensive, but that's based on the average in Berlin. If I were buying the same thing in San Francisco, there wouldn't be such a sticker shock, though I can say this isn't some place I'd go all the time. Also, the inside sort of feels like a club with low lighting and loud music--at least it did when we showed up at 4pm on a Saturday. We ended up sitting at the benches outside because we had a baby with us, though we were told that during the week before 6pm it's not so loud and crowded (in case you want to go with a kid). Service was fast and friendly. I don't think we really had to wait very long, but maybe when it's at capacity that differs. read more

The beef was very good and overall the burgers were also very good, this coming from someone who's from LA and has quality burgers on every corner. The majority of the burgers in Europe in general (Berlin is pretty good though) are terrible pre made frozen patties that they just plop on the grill. These burgers tasted fresh and like actual meat. The menu seems a little mashed up too much, lots of burgers sharing the same toppings, and every burger besides like three had BBQ sauce on them. It only took one glance at the ginormous burgers and massive plates of curly fries for me to decide that visiting Lily Burger was my new life goal. We popped in about 2pm on a Saturday: the restaurant was quiet enough to find a table, but busy enough for a nice atmosphere. Old school hip hop blared from the radio, neon signs advertised their deep-fried chocolate bars (making me a wee bit home-sick) and I was happy to see kitchen roll on the tables: burger eating is messy business, after all. As for the menu... there were so many different options I wish I'd studied in advance. It's a menu that requires a good ten minutes to make sure you know what your options are and that you're making the right choice. The sides section is just as thorough as the burger section. I almost cried with joy when I saw a whole section dedicated to chips with different blue cheese toppings. After flirting with the burger with about 5 different types of cheese on it, I eventually decided on the marginally less artery clogging burger with blue cheese, guacamole, mushrooms and onions. We couldn't decide whether to get a side of fries, curly fries, or chips, but we decided to go for chips. We're from Scotland and totally forgot that in American restaurants chips aren't chunky fries, but what we call crisps. Anyway, I'm glad we made a mistake because our crisps arrived and they were AMAZING. Hot out the fryer, and with a side of garlicky creamy knofi sauce. Seriously, forget ketchup and mayo: order the knofi. We ordered our burgers rare and they were absolutely delish. Unfortunately I could only eat about three quarters of mine because it was so rich and filling: this is unheard of btw, I'm a greedy pig. They're absolutely huge burgers and are very difficult to eat, it took me a while to figure out a strategy for getting it into my mouth. Got there in the end, though. We didn't eat anything else for the rest of the day. That's a thumbs up from me! I will definitely be going back, even if it is just to sink my teeth into a platter (or two) of chips with blue cheese. read more

This place is amazing. Our waiter was welcoming, offered helpful recommendations and kept the balance between checking in and respecting our privacy. The food took a while to arrive but it was well worth the wait. Stellar sweet potato fries, high quality meat and fresh vegetables. To top it off all of the sauces are home made. The portions are huge so don't order fries with a burger teller unless you are comfortable asking for a doggy bag. The burgers are MASSIVE so don't even think about getting fries unless you share them with like 3 people. I had a medium burger with cheese and bacon and it was amazing. The meat was really well cooked and it tasted great. I really dont get the hype about this place. Food: I had a cheeseburger. The patty was tasteless. The whole burger was covered in so much cheese, that literately everything tasted like cheese. It basically felt like eating a piece of cheese. So actually 0 stars for that. Drinks: I had a homemade blueberry ice tea. It was ok but nothing special. Had far better ice teas before. The place: It is a pretty big place. But the accept cash only. What the hell? Its 2017, common guys. Debit should be minimum. I would not recommend that place to anyone. Unfortunately I recently had a not so nice experience at Lily Burger after they opened a new club restaurant in Friedrichshain. I came here with great joy and expectations because I've eaten great burgers in their store in Neukölln before. The waiters are still very bro-y and chill but they made it clear that they don't follow the German "der Kunde ist König" attitude and complained loudly about new guests coming in and new orders. One of them explained that they haven't had a day off in 8 days which is a pity because service clearly suffered from that. The burgers we ordered (beef and saitan) were massive as always but both our toppings and sauces were mixed up/wrong. The restaurant was not crowded and there were definitely enough waiters around. The saitan patty was still delicious and - I'm not gonna lie - the wrong toppings were also good but simply not what I ordered. Same with my friend who ordered beef. The beef patty itself was small small in diameter and a good 5cm high. It is impossible to eat the burger with your hand and get a cross section because it's just too high. The meat itself was grilled to order but not seasoned. That wouldn't be a problem if you have a burst in flavour from the meat itself but even that was rather disappointing. For the wrong sauces we got a free soft drink each. We paid 26€ for two soft drinks, a beef hamburger and a simple saitan burger which is just way too much for a) the taste of the food and b) the competition that there is in Berlin. Bummer. read more

Our first time eating Lily was through Foodora delivery; so we honestly had mediocre expectations. This place really delivered above and beyond. My wife and I shared the vegan Fidel Castro (very spicy, as promised ), the vegan JFK, and the curly fries. The burgers included vegan bacon and egg (I assumed the egg would've just been left off of the vegan version of the burger, but nope! They actually have vegan "eggs"!), which were delicious--especially the bacon. That's the best vegan bacon I've ever had. The seitan burger patty appears house-made as well, and the texture and flavour are quite like a meat patty. For 11 o'clock on a Thursday night we expected less than we got. The delivery came about 20 minutes earlier than expected, the food was still warm, the full order was in the bag, and the quality was excellent. Just a year ago Lily Burger & Steaks was my favorite place for a vegan burger. In the time since it's really rapidly declined in just about every possible manner. The buns are different, the prices are higher, and the quality of the food in general is much lower. The burgers used to be so delicious and now they are absolutely mediocre. The ambiance never offered much anyway, same goes for the service. Now one has to order at a window, while waiters used to take the orders and deliver the food. I don't know if the management has changed or if they are simply trying to save money and cut corners, but whatever the cause, this restaurant is in serious decline. read more

***THREATENED WITH VIOLENCE BY THE MANAGER*** - We ordered two burgers, both were terrible. My mate still ate his, I did not eat mine. When I went to pay, I said I would only like pay for the burger we ate and could he take mine off the bill, in a respectful, but firm manner. The staff member refused, and immediately reacted with "we'll call the police if you don't pay the whole bill" before I could say anything else. I protested as it was a terrible burger (ordinary meat, more sauce & cooking oil than actual burger, and a salad that was scorched into soggy oblivion). The manager was then called over. I explained the situation to him, but he told me I ate it, so I have to pay for it. He said just don't come back if I don't like it, but I have to pay. This turned into a back and forth, and became heated, eventually, I was getting nowhere. Then the manager leaned in closer to me, and said, "I will take you out the back to sort this out and we'll f*** you up if you do not pay". At this point, now with 4 of them standing closely around me, I paid with my card, and we immediately left. I feel violated & intimidated by their macho, violent attitude, and totally robbed of €35 for 2 terrible, terrible burgers. NEVER, EVER GO HERE - UTTERLY DISGUSTING FILTH OF HUMAN BEINGS. This place is a tad more expensive than The Bird and the meat is just a notch below in terms of deliciousness, however: * The overall burger (including salad&toppings) is superb * unlike The Bird or virtually anywhere else they use organic beef * unlike The Bird or virtually anywhere else they had gluten free bread (I always have to order without buns) * sauces for the chips were really tasty So it's very pricey compared to the other top burger spots (came out with €16.80 for burger+chips+soft drink) and seating isn't comfy at all but I'd be loathe to give less than five stars to any place that offers the above, at least until the other ones start doing it... read more

Ordered medium-rare, and our burgers were just massive piles of barely browned raw beef. I guess it's cool that's they're so big but the wonderful cross sectional burger bite is impossible. The fried onion on top was just a mass of flabby under-fried batter, and the staff are a bunch of bros running a clubhouse who don't give a s**t about their customers or, it seems, their food. This is the worst restaurant I've been to, by far. When we were seated, we could only order drinks, when asked to order food, we were shouted at saying that no no no no that's not how it goes. This part was acceptable, the unacceptable part was how the wait for just the drinks took one hour and by the time we ordered and finished, our whole meal eating took 5 minutes but we were in the restaurant for 3 hours. Imagine the wait! After 2 hours of waiting, when we asked for our food, they had the audacity to tell us that they were not a fast food restaurant. To add on, we were shouted at like dogs about asking the food to to be served. I think we would be satisfied if the food was good, but it wasn't. The patty was frozen in the middle, the cheese was soggy, the bun was so greasy it was dripping oil. However, when we did decide to pay, we were shouted at for being slow. The attitude of the cashier was so bad, he did not even have change on him even though the only paying method was cash. I'm not saying the restaurant is a bad place, it might have been just been out table but I wouldn't recommend it to others. read more
