First of all, do NOT go family court without a lawyer. We have just started the process here, yet I have more than enough to rate Katie. I would have been absolutely lost without Katie's guidance. Her job is to inform you, advise you, and to guide you through the court proceedings. I'm telling you, what I thought was important to tell the judge, really wasn't that important. This is a very personal process and a personal ordeal and she understands that, and then keeps you on track. Will repeat again, do NOT go to family court without a lawyer. I shopped around for legal representation before finding Katie via recommendation by another very respected attorney. She is the truth! She kept me focused, kept me on topic, and kept reminding me of what was important during the particular phase of the mediation or court arguments that we were in. I'll admit that I balked at calling her at first because of a couple of negative reviews on here, but I am so glad I did. Katie knows her stuff. Do your part and she will guide you on the rest. As a side note, there are no inexpensive attorneys. Although cost was definitely not the most important thing on my list (getting my daughter back was #1, duh), Katie was the least expensive attorney that I received a quote from. Did I mention that she knows her stuff? I am beyond thankful for her and her work and it's only been a few weeks and 1 session of court. The moment the paperwork is finalized and she has your signature, everything changes. You are instantly neglected, ignored, and left feeling completely scammed. Do not fall for her once she has your commitment, you will be cast aside. Professional services were hired based on a personal recommendation, but the experience was deeply unsatisfying. There were significant issues regarding the handling of funds from a divorce settlement. Communication was inconsistent; there were claims that I could not be reached despite my availability, which led to significant delays.The management of the legal team appeared disorganized, with errors.. Upon reviewing the case history, it seemed that the process was unnecessarily prolonged, resulting in higher fees. Attempts to resolve these issues directly were met with temporary offers of free services followed by a sudden no of all contact. I hired Katie Limas for my family law case as a single mom, but I was very dissatisfied with her services. I repeatedly told her and her staff that I couldn't afford to pay more than what I was already paying. The billing process was confusing and unprofessional. I was often hung up on or threatened when I questioned the charges. I also discovered that I was being charged for every time my husband contacted her, which I was not aware of. In court, she seemed unprepared, often fumbling over her documents and forgetting important details. When I raised concerns, she became aggressive . At one point, she suggested that I sell my house to cover the fees, and when I questioned her intentions, she threatened to add charges, all by email. Due to the stress and anxiety caused by Katie Limas and her team, I decided to fire her. Unfortunately, I didn't receive any positive results from my case. read more

Never ever use this attorney. 1. Fails to respond to client communications where it is clearly inferred that a response from the attorney (not a secretary/legal assistant/paralegal) is requested; uses unregistered "paralegals"; allows legal secretary/assistant/ unregistered paralegal to respond to client communications in lieu of response by actual attorney; bills for "paralegal" rates when in fact there is no registered paralegal at her office; fails to provide itemized billing statements; fails to provide itemized billing statement to show that Initial Retainer Fee was exhausted based on services rendered; AFTER Initial Retainer Fee allegedly exhausted- provides Monthly Billing statement to client - which client paid. THEN DEMANDS 2ND RETAINER DEPOSIT : Breach of her own ambiguous contract; demands client pay 2nd Retainer Fee and other Billing Statements within 1 week- when her own contract states "due within 30 days; threatens to drop client IF client doesn't pay within 1 week; fails to respond timely to Opposing Client Notices (re Settlement Offer and Settlement Conference); and refuses to act according to clients wishes to settle the case. THEN she issues this response to my review claiming that she just spoke with me today and had explained her "billing/retainer" policy. WRONG! SHE DIDNT SPEAK TO ME TODAY AT ALL! Her arrogance and audacity should dissuade anyone from using her. Note: she didn't even bother to address the bulk of my review. This should tell everyone that this is standard business practice: mistreat, threatening, overbill clients! Oh let me ADD this nugget: she refuses to meet clients in person- demands "virtual" meetings AND uses support staff to provide legal advice to clients. read more

STAY AWAY! Don't mess yourself up! I was Referred to kattie from a family lawyer they said she was amazing and reliable and very professional and that was all a lie! I had a meeting with her regarding a custody hearing I secured her with a $2500 deposit. After all this I did all the legwork and I spent all the money getting all the papers going to the medical offices I spent two days off work and getting everything together basically doing everything for her other than filing paperwork in the court. Her reception is at the time when she was located in Stockton was very unprofessional and rude they wouldn't communicate with me and let me know what court dates were which ultimately resulted in me leaving the courthouse after falsely instructed that there was no court when in all actuality there was. After that I withdrew my need for her services and then four months later she has the audacity to send me an invoice for my entire deposit when she absolutely did nothing. She did not return calls or emails or receptionist even told me when I withdrew my desire for her to be my lawyer that basically I should have almost all of my deposit returned due to the fact nothing was done. On one of my many times trying to contact her in regards to getting the remainder of my deposit her daughter even spoke to me on the phone telling me the receptionist was no longer there due to fraudulent activity and that everybody's money was all messed up and she assured me that she would return my deposit within 30 days and all of that was a lie as well. Multiple times I was told only a small amount of my deposit was used and that the way it was looking most of it would be returned to me all of that was a lie multiple times I was told I would be giving my money back. Only to receive an invoice for $2490. This lady is a scam artist and she takes advantage of people who can't afford to financially so I warn you stay away. I have been advised to file a complaint with the California bar association and I will do so. Edit for response: As she says below that the work she claims to have done Ultimately led to his dismissal or drop and that's a lie it was dropped and dismissed before we even attended court and she wasn't even aware of anything because they weren't doing their job went to court to find out that the other party dropped the case. Trying to find a lawyer out of county adds an extra layer of stress so I was very disappointed by this lawyers lack of ability to accommodate. It sucks to do a bunch of research to find a lawyer you want to have a consultation with to potentially work with just for them to not be able to have a consultation with you for no valid reason. Every other law firm I spoke with offered phone or even Skype consultations. I live an hour away which would mean taking significant time off work, which was explained. I guess if you live local this attorney could work for you. But not if you need some flexibility due to your circumstances. read more

This Woman got me out of trouble for a restraining order violation when I was living in a tent for FREE. The court appointed her and she was amazing at clearing me of all charges. She called me after to see if she could help me get visitation. She is a Saint. Was forced to search for another Attourney because my first lawyer quit on me one day befor the last court date to finish my divorce. So I found miss Limus and explained the situation and had court on Monday .i told her wat I was wanting on Friday and come Monday at court she did wat ever she wanted just as if what we talked about was out the window at one point during court I felt she was my exes Attourney not mine . Needless to say I was dumbfounded !
