Code Ninja is much more flexible - you create the schedule - but I wasn't sure without a teacher, lesson, in a class setting whether he would make good use of his time. They do have senseis (like teachers/aids) who are there to help as needed but it's more fluid depending on what skill your kid is having trouble learning . I have not had much experience with the senseis, but my son tells me they do come around to help and when I pick him up, he is so eager to show me his work. Each week, you get a progress email with links to his completed projects/games - so far he has programmed cute avatars with talking bubbles and movements - and the email also says how close he is to go up in belt. I could not tell how he was doing or know what he made in his last studio as there were no progress report/measurement. The owner is very nice and accommodating of our schedule, and sincere in wanting to create a fun place of learning for kids, as he too has young kids.

I personally was really hesitant trusting my kids with someone but she reassured me and my favorite part of it all is that she keeps you updated about your kids day & provides photos of their adventures in class. (With permission of course) I know he's always safe & having fun! Spanish was a big plus! & tuition is very fairly priced for all that she does! Truly, if you're looking to start your child's education somewhere, I'd start here!

Jocelyn speaks Spanish which was crucial for me as I'm teaching my kiddo Spanish first. There is no montessori place that is Spanish speaking and reasonably priced. Thanks to Jocelyn, my kid has become potty train in record time, and picked up a number of other skills. The program is very hands on which is great because my kid comes homes with projects all the time. Keepsakes that I cherish. But most importantly, my kid returns happy. They go in and return enthusiastic about going in almost daily now. They have a chance to socialize, learn, explore and just be a kid. As a parent, I am eternally grateful for taking a chance on LEM. I know my kid is safe and in good hands with Jocelyn.

I attended Alpha Math and Science as a junior in high school. I am writing this review years later…read morebecause I still think about this experience, and I genuinely believe students and parents deserve to know how damaging a teacher's behavior can be toward young people. The way this program was structured was that students were encouraged to come in early for additional help. That was repeatedly emphasized as a way to succeed. At the time, I was 16 years old and under an extreme amount of stress. I had a calculus test the following day, was overwhelmed, and already anxious because the class itself was marketed as preparation but felt stressful from the start. Because I wanted help, I came in early as instructed. A TA was helping me before class started. She was kind, calm, and supportive. I sat in the front of the classroom with the TA seated next to me. When class officially began, I immediately stopped working independently and began taking notes like everyone else. The TA stayed seated next to me and would occasionally tap my shoulder to quietly point out a correction or clarification on my work. When that happened, I responded quietly and respectfully. I was not talking to classmates, not distracting anyone, and not being disruptive in any way. This continued for about thirty minutes. Then the TA left. The moment she walked out, the instructor suddenly began screaming at me at full volume in front of the entire class. As a 16 year old student, being screamed at by a grown adult in front of my peers was terrifying. I had been in his class for over a year at that point. I was always quiet, attentive, and respectful, and I had never been a problem student. He continued yelling at me aggressively in both English and Chinese. I do not speak or understand Chinese well, which made the situation even more confusing and frightening. When I could not respond properly because I did not understand what he was saying, he became even angrier. He accused me of being disrespectful and intentionally talking during class, even though I had only been responding quietly to the TA earlier. At one point, he accused me of intentionally tripping the TA as she left, claiming I had done it on purpose. In reality, her foot had simply caught on a loose backpack string. The accusation was shocking and completely untrue. I began crying uncontrollably in front of the entire class. He did not stop yelling. He continued berating me while I stood there frozen, embarrassed, and scared. What made this even more unsettling was that staff members came into the classroom during this incident and simply stood there watching. I had seen similar situations before where staff would appear when he yelled at other students, which made it clear that this behavior was not unusual. Eventually, he stormed out of the classroom. The entire atmosphere was ruined. I felt horrible not only for myself but also for the other students whose learning time was lost because of his inability to control his temper. After the short break, his wife came in to teach the second half of the class. While I was still crying and visibly shaken, she told me that if I needed extra help, I should come in early. That sentence completely broke me. I had come in early. I had followed exactly what the program instructed students to do. I was exhausted, scared, and speechless. I regret not saying anything in that moment, but I was a timid teenager who had just been publicly humiliated by a teacher. I gathered my things, left immediately, and never returned to Alpha Math and Science. After I left, friends who stayed in the class later told me that the instructor would frequently mention me during lessons. He told them to tell me that he would offer me free classes if I came back. There was no apology, no acknowledgment of how he treated me, and no accountability. Just an offer of free classes, as if access to his teaching excused the way he behaved. I did not need his class then, and I do not need it now. Today, I am in college at UC Berkeley with a job lined up. I have learned from many professors, including award winning ones, who are demanding, disciplined, and high standard without being cruel or humiliating. Looking back, I now understand how harmful a teacher with poor emotional control and a lack of emotional intelligence can be to a young student's confidence and well being. These classes are expensive, and in my experience, they made no meaningful positive impact on my academic success. What they did leave behind was stress, fear, and lasting emotional damage. There are better resources out there. No test score, class, or program is worth feeling unsafe, belittled, or scared in a learning environment. I hope this review helps students and parents make a more informed decision.

I believe it's because of the excellent teacher and care shown by the instructors: Mr. Hsu and Ms. Helen. The care shown by the staff to all students sets this place apart from any other place. They are dedicated to helping their students build a good foundation in math and science, and helping their students succeed in life. I recommend this place to any parents that are looking to help their children build a good foundation in math and science.

She has so much fun at preschool, has made so many friends, and overall has made great strides in her learning and development thanks to SOTV. Our favorite things about SOTV: - The teachers! All of them really care about the kids and the kids love them back - They organize fun and engaging events almost every week - They are constantly rotating toys and activities for the kids and get the kids involved in setting up, cleaning up, etc. - They have a sandbox - my daughter loves it! My daughter also has allergies and eczema, and the teachers have accommodated her well. There's consistent and easy communication through their app, and they share photos and updates throughout the day, which really puts my mind at ease. For the level of care, pricing is really reasonable. I'm really glad I found SOTV - they're providing amazing care and education for my daughter.

As a current parent of two…read morechildren enrolled here, I can honestly say it has been one of the best decisions our family has made. Every teacher made the transition feel smooth, supportive, and reassuring from day one. Here are a few of the things that made it an easy choice for our family: - An exceptional team of teachers and a strong sense of community. - Warm, homemade lunches. - Daily snacks served with milk. - Lillio app for parents. It was important to us to find a center that provides hot meals and snacks. We've found that our children are often more willing to eat when they're alongside their peers, and that has absolutely been true for ours. Both of my children finish their meals and snacks with far more enthusiasm at school than they do at home! From the very beginning, the staff has created a warm, nurturing, and welcoming environment. The teachers are not only caring, but truly attentive to each child's unique personality and developmental needs. It's clear they love what they do, and that care shines through in every interaction. All of the teachers are incredibly patient and kind with the children. I always encourage prospective parents to tour the campus and talk to current families, you'll quickly see how special this place is. My youngest was previously enrolled at a larger facility, where I often felt more like just a number and frequently felt rushed. The sense of community there was lacking. In contrast, SOTV's more intimate campus fosters a strong sense of connection, allowing teachers to provide individualized attention and thoughtfully support each child's growth and development. As a parent, I also find the feedback they provide to be incredibly valuable. Ms. Lana has been such a positive influence on both of my children. She truly wants the best for each child and partners closely with parents to support their growth. When my youngest started school still using a pacifier, Ms. Lana gently encouraged us to begin weaning him off it and supported us every step of the way. It was a gradual process, but one we really needed, and her encouragement made all the difference. Ms. Lana also played a huge role in getting my oldest excited about potty training. I felt intimidated by the process, but she made it fun and encouraging, celebrating every small win with cheers, applause, and high fives. Ms. Gabby has such a special connection with her students. When my oldest first started and had a hard time separating, she showed so much patience and care. During nap time, when he struggled to settle, she would gently hold his hand and offer a small stuffed toy from her lanyard to comfort him. Those small acts of kindness meant so much and helped him feel safe and secure. Ms. Gabby is also currently the teacher in the Butterfly classroom, where my youngest is enrolled, and her presence has made the transition significantly easier for him. She brings such a calm, nurturing energy to the classroom, which has helped my child feel safe and comfortable. A special thank you to Ms. Darien, who has made a truly meaningful impact on our family, especially in helping my oldest through the potty-training process. What felt so overwhelming at home became much more manageable with her guidance, helpful tips, and consistent encouragement. She approaches everything with kindness and understanding, and her support has helped build my child's confidence during such an important milestone. Ms. Darien also brings so much joy to the children with her playful personality and fun jokes, creating an environment where they feel comfortable, happy, and confident. Mr. Gregg, who teaches the students in the oldest class, brings such a calm and steady presence. He also makes the best paper airplanes! Thanks to his influence, my oldest has learned to enjoy cleaning up and helping put things away at the end of the day--which has been such a gift at home. Mr. Gregg is alwants so patient and caring with each student. My son has told us that he wants to grow up to be strong just like Mr. Gregg! Additionally, SOTV also uses the Lillio app for parents. I love this benefit because it provides updates throughout the day, meals, naps, activities, and photos. I feel so connected and I especially appreciate the glimpse into their daily experiences and learning moments, as well as the ease of communication with teachers. It adds an extra layer of reassurance and transparency that makes a big difference as a parent. Not a lot of preschools have this and we are grateful that SOTV offers it!
