I've been here 4 or 5 times at this point and have had a very good experience overall. One thing I…read morelike about the place is, obviously, the price. It's super reasonable to get a haircut here because they are students. On top of that, it feels like a salon (although there are students working on their dummy heads to practice). They have a separate wash room that is a bit more serene and a busy salon floor. The students are generally friendly and eager. They are also supervised by a learning leader (I've noticed there are usually at least two, often three, walking the floor at all times). I think most of the time the students are good about checking in with their learning leader if they're unsure about how to do something. (My two cents: There is a male learning leader with short dark hair who is especially good with the students.) If something is too complicated for a student, the learning leader models how to do it. I did have a student sort of rush, but only once. I still walked out with a good cut, although I think she should have checked in with her learning leader before moving ahead with a part of the cut. She also "styled" by hair with the straightener, which cost $8 more than the $12 cut I was expecting, so that was sort of unpleasant. I'm sure I could have spoken up and had that fee removed since I didn't want the styling, but I didn't feel like getting into it. If I had one suggestion, it would be that the school offered either a physical or digital comment card so that customers could leave feedback for the students. It's not asked for in any way, which seems weird to me considering the learning aspect, and if it were to be asked, I'd rather write it down than have a potentially awkward conversation with the student. That being said, I am really happy with the Paul Mitchell School and will continue to go back for my my cuts, especially since I get pretty simple styles (although I've seen them do great, more complicated stuff on other clients getting work done). I started going here because my coworker's daughter attended the school and she was getting her (great) hair done there (and I was hearing good things about their program from my coworker). I haven't gone anywhere else since.

I was a student here and honestly all of my thoughts could not fit on here but all I can say is,…read moreworst place I have ever been in my LIFE. And this wasn't just me that felt this way. You walk into the student bathroom and people are in tears about how horrible it is. And how they waisted 24 THOUSAND dollars. They can't keep staff because they treat them like absolute garbage. Admin is nothing but rude and do not care about anyone. You learn how to do nails on a paper. They stopped doing all services other than hair. No nails, waxing or pedicures. On top of it all, my parents made a check to them and it bounced! I will say they fixed the problem within 48 hours but the problem should not have occurred. They bash other cosmetic schools because "they teach more" no they do not. Go somewhere cheaper and kinder to students and staff

I pulled into one of their clearly labeled spots because the person I was with literally went inside to ask about prices -you know, like a potential customer. Not even two minutes later, this girl (pictured below) struts out and says, "Hello, do you mind moving? My client is behind you!" I politely said, "No problem, the person I'm with is inside asking questions." She says "thank you" and then, without skipping a beat, walks right in front of my car and takes a picture of my license plate. When I asked, "Why are you taking a picture of my car?" she actually said, "I'm sending it in so you can get a ticket." Be for real. You're mad at me for waiting in a parking space for someone who's literally inside your salon asking about your prices? I've never seen customer service this petty. Like, girl, maybe focus on your clients' hair instead of trying to get strangers ticketed. The energy was so unprofessional, so unnecessary, and honestly just plain mean. If this is how they treat people who show genuine interest in their business, I can only imagine what it's like once they actually have your money. So yeah ... if you're thinking about coming here, think twice unless you're into bad vibes, bad attitudes, and bonus parking tickets. Because Moisture Salon? They don't do "moisture" they do messy!!!

What a great experience! I've been straightening/blowing out my hair since I can remember but it…read morenever quite looked right. During the pandemic I skipped using heat tools a few times and was like: wait, is my hair curly? It sure is. But every time I get it cut and then let it go natural, the layers are wonky and it gets super frizzy. Decided it was time to get a curly cut and wanted a place that specialized. Enter Moisture Salon. I showed up for my appointment with about a minute to spare (there was a road closure and I don't think I've ever been to Schenectady before so that was fun), parked in a lot a few blocks away and walked over. The signage is clear and cute. Greeted by two friendly doggos, Jenny and Chichi. Brooke introduced herself and took me back where she looked at my hair and asked tons of questions. First, she cut my hair dry and talked to me about some of my concerns and we discussed my constant state of "am I or am I not growing in my gray." I think I am. When she washed my hair she really showed me how much buildup there was and then used a shampoo made for people with hard water before feeling the difference again. Yikes! She had me bed over and watch how she applied products into my hair and all the different amounts and processes. It was so helpful. She also taught me a trick for getting my curls to be a little more bouncy at the top of my head, where they are often kind of stretched out. At the end, I had far more definition and bounce and was handed a microfiber towel, clips and a helpful card to help me get used to how to take care of my hair. It's two days later and it still looks great. Looking forward to a 4-month check in to see if it's more moisturized. Brooke and Ron are great and I've definitely found the right place for me! Thanks, Moisture Salon!

I walked out with cranberry/orange hair for the first couple of inches of hair throughout my head, the rest of the hair a mousy brown. All of it brittle the next day after washing out the palm full of product she put in my hair after washing out the toner. The first pic here is my natural color that I wanted her to mimic over the greys. As to the highlighting before putting toner in, my hair was completely white where streaks of highlighting was to occur but she told me not to worry as she'll darken it up to the desired carmelly color with toner. I have no highlights (pic 2). My hair is "crispy" - I am particularly upset as I am hosting my company retreat in two weeks. I asked Sabrina for a refund of the cost of the color and highlights (indicating I liked the cut) but she has not responded to same. I paid $330 to have my head trashed. It's beyond embarrassing to walk about with such an ugly head of hair when I have been blessed with beautiful auburn color all these years. Just saddened beyond words. I should have listened to my gut!
