Dr Bucay was recommended to me by my esthetician after a sudden onset skin issue was still afffecting my face after seeing another Dermatologist in the Stone Oak area. After an extremely brutal outing in the sun using a new sunblock lotion that was recommended due to its ability to block excess sweating, I began having a "breakout" of sorts over the next several days. Instead of clearing up, it continued in other areas but the original spots didn't completely heal! At the ripe old age of 58 you can imagine my shock as to what was happening with my face. I lived my whole life thru my teens, pregnancies & menopause unscathed by acne breakouts (with the exception of an occasional pimple every 10years)! After visiting a different Dermatologist, I showed him pictures at every stage of the breakouts incldg what happened with my eyebrows from onset to when they became "holes" & how they looked when "healed"! He ran a myriad of tests & prescribed me numerous creams etc, but nothing worked. His response was it was caused by me picking my face! I told him I hadn't nor had I ever picked at my face &!I wasn't a teenager! I couldn't believe that was his diagnosis. Mind you, I had actual crater-like "holes" that took forever to close but left behind the hole in my skin! Tweezing my eyebrows even caused inflammation from where the hair was removed & created holes/gaps in my brows in the spots where the hair was plucked out! After waiting 2yrs for my forehead botox, i decided to risk it & attempt it again. I explained the situation to my esthetician & showed her the photos to see if she had seen this before or had any suggestions. She hadn't but referred me to Dr Vivian Bucay for a 2nd opinion. Although, the wait time for an initial appointment was 6 mos., they were able to see me sooner due to a cancellation & the timing was perfect due to a breakout at that time. She looked thru all my pics, took pics of her own, ran addl tests & 1. Agreed it wasn't caused by me picking my face. 2. Felt is was more viral & wrote up a complete plan, incldg what to use & NOT to use in my skin care repertoire. Sked a followup in 6 weeks & when I returned, she saw a completely different person! I have been walking on air & singing her praises to everyone & anyone I know! She listened, didn't make assumptions, came up with a plan & solved the issue. Almost 1 yr later, my face hasn't had any addl breakouts & the "holes" have almost all completely healed & filled in. I am getting my smooth face back & so very very very thankful to my esthetician for referring me to Dr Vivian Bucay who saved my face & made it possible for me to go out in public again!!!! Her office & staff are the best. I can only imagine that the Hardy Oak office is just as good & the Dr's there are just as amazing as Dr Bucay! Horrible Experience -- Complications Dismissed Instead of Taken Seriously…read more I am extremely disappointed with both the results of my treatment and the way my concerns have been handled afterward. My results look uneven and lopsided. I now have a noticeably droopy left eyelid and eyebrow, something I never experienced when receiving treatment for the same issues from my previous doctor in Houston. I still have the "11" lines between my eyebrows and still have my laugh lines. The area that seems to have been significantly affected is my left eyelid and eyebrow, which are now drooping. I went in hoping to look better and instead feel that I look worse. What concerns me just as much as the result is the response from the practice. I have experienced a complication following a cosmetic procedure in the past, and that doctor took the situation seriously, treated it with urgency, and made every effort to evaluate the problem and make things right. That experience showed me how a medical practice can respond when a patient reports an unexpected cosmetic outcome. Here, my experience has been the opposite. I spoke with Corina, an assistant, and found her response dismissive and unhelpful. I asked to see another doctor within this very large practice and was told I could not, although I could see someone at the med spa. When I explained that a proposed 1:45 appointment conflicted with a work meeting, her response that she "guessed" she could try another day came across as rude and dismissive. When a patient calls concerned about a new drooping eyelid and eyebrow after a procedure, I would expect compassion, urgency, and an effort to have the problem evaluated--not to feel like an inconvenience. The way this situation has been handled has seriously undermined my confidence in this practice. Based on my personal experience, I would not feel comfortable undergoing something more invasive here, such as a laser procedure or facial surgery. If this is how my complication and concerns are handled, the thought of dealing with a complication from a more significant procedure is frightening. I would not recommend this provider or practice based on my experience.

So, when I say "If I could pick only one doctor in the world to be my forever doctor, it would be Dr. Martini!", it means she is the epitome of everything you'd ever want in a doctor...hands down! By the time my insurance approved my referral to Dr. Martini, I had been laid off and had only two weeks before I lost my insurance. I really didn't hold out much hope that she would be able to do anything to help me in such a short period of time. In fact, I was even warned when I booked the appointment that time was not on my side, and I probably would not get more than the initial eval completed...a realistic expectation in today's world of healthcare. That being said, within 36 hrs of the approved referral hitting their desk, I was scheduled and went in hoping something good would come out of it. Dr. Martini saw me asap, knew immediately what needed to be done, completed all the steps in that very first visit that she knew the insurance would require, requested and got an approval from my insurance and had me in surgery within a week. She was meticulous in her approach to handling my surgery, excellent in her communication with me, and has made herself available to me for any questions or concerns. She is that conscientious and concerned about her patients. Dr. Martini is one of the most thorough, knowledgeable and compassionate doctors I've ever met (and I work in healthcare and know some great doctors!) She has personally checked on me and even had me come in earlier than scheduled for a follow up just to be sure I was healing well without charging me a dime. When I say you will not find a better doctor, I mean it. On an aside, Victoria, her medical assistant, is just as compassionate and concerned for their patients as Dr. Martini. You couldn't ask for a better team to place your care in their hands. When I say I will follow them wherever they go, know that I don't say that lightly. If you have a choice, you could not find better care than with them.

Dr Browning is great with kids, knew what our babies strange birthmark was after one look, have us materials on how to deal with it, and when it became unmanageable - surgically removed it. As a surgeon - he was quick and thorough, and baby is healing very well. He explained the 3 types of sutures he used for different purposes. Aftercare has been very easy. He also seems knowledgeable about minimizing the scar.

Even the next day after my procedure, I didn't know how to bring up what happened. I do like my physical results so far, but the experience during the procedure affected me enough that I've been having nightmares about it. I plan on addressing everything at my 6-week appointment because I need time to process and communicate it properly. I originally came to Eterna Cosmetic Surgery looking for traditional liposuction where you're put under anesthesia. I explained very openly that I have bad anxiety and cannot tolerate pain for long periods of time. During my consultation with Dr. Hernandez, she reassured me that ViserLipo (awake lipo) would still work well for me because they would give calming medications and Pronox to manage both the pain and the anxiety. She said many people sleep through it or don't really remember much. With that explanation, I felt reassured and agreed to proceed. My appointment was originally set for November 25th. About two hours after I left the consultation, the office called saying they had an opening the very next day and preferred to move me to that slot. I agreed and prepared for ViserLipo on my upper and lower abdomen the following morning. When I arrived, my appointment was scheduled for 7:00am, but staff didn't arrive until around 7:45am. This stood out to me because their policy states that patients who are 15 minutes late are charged a $300 fee. After that, though, things seemed positive again, the staff was kind, the environment was clean, and I was given medications, a robe, a blanket, and had before-photos taken. At that point, I felt okay. I figured their appointment timing on the website was just wrong, not a big deal for me. Once I was in the operating room, things changed. They handed me the Pronox nozzle before starting the local anesthesia injections, but based on the conversation I heard (and maybe Im wrong and didn't hear right, but it still did nothing for the pain), the Pronox was not actually turned on yet. The injections were extremely painful. I also noticed Dr. Hernandez speaking to the assisting nurse in a way that seemed snappy or short, which added to my stress. Once the Pronox was turned on, it helped for a while. But suddenly it was taken away during the procedure. At that point, I could feel **everything** not pressure, not discomfort, but real, intense pain. I had a blindfold on, and my entire body started shaking. My arms and legs were tensing uncontrollably. Someone told me to keep still and keep my arms up, but I was trying my best just to withstand the pain. Eventually I started crying and managed to say that I was in pain, but the response I got was, "You're a little uncomfortable." I was not uncomfortable , I was in genuine pain. There is a big difference. Someone placed a stress ball in my hand, and I remember gripping it so hard it felt like I was tearing it apart. It felt like a very long time before the Pronox was given back to me briefly. By that point, I was terrified that my shaking or tensing would cause a mistake or injury. When it was finally over, they cleaned me and helped me into the garments. I was extremely dizzy and exhausted, but I was still asked to walk out on my own. There was no wheelchair offered. The moment I got into the car, I started crying again and begged my husband to drive to my mom's house because I just needed to feel safe. I've never experienced anything like that before. **If you are considering getting ViserLipo here, please understand that you may feel *everything* during the procedure.
