Initially I had some anxiety about getting permanent makeup as a Black woman because I worried the color might be off; however Linh did an excellent job. I first got my eyebrows done and they turned out so well that I went back and got permanent eyeliner (upper and lower lash line) and a cat wing. The procedure is a little painful--especially the eyeliner, but is worth the pain. DanVI Salon as a whole doesn't ooze with snobbery or act pretencious. In fact, it is the polar opposite of any other hair salon I have ever been to. It is what it is. and I love it for just that reason. consider it your "you pick color now" nail salon...with a few hair cutting stations attached. amazing. I called at about 10:15 on a Saturday morning and Sok answered. she was available at 11. (score!) (ps. she is the cutest little thing ever!!!) She cuts your hair dry to ensure the perfect cut and length all for the earth shattering price of...$20...want it washed? $5 please. you don't have to go through the pomp and circumstance of changing out of your shirt into a special salon robe....and getting the hard sell on stupid over priced salon shampoo. this is just not that kind of place suffice it to say..I was in, I was out, and I didn't feel like I had to impress anyone. I went here a few times . The first time I went I got my eye brows waxed/ threaded. I was in and out in less then10 minutes. Only costed $8. I have sensitive skin so I was surprised that I didn't break out that much and after I got them waxed my face wasn't super red for the rest of the day. The second time I went in was for the fake eye lashes that last about 1 week to 2 weeks. It was my first time, but I guess they were nice. I didn't like them that much, plus they really seemed to irritate my eyes. I think she put some way too close to the inside because right after prom I just couldn't take it anymore and pulled them right off. Compared to the lashes that you buy at a store and put on yourself, their lashes are really stiff and I didn't like that at all. I felt like they were covering part of my vision so I tried to curl the (bad mistake) and then some fell out. But I went back the next day and she fixed it for free (: The third time I went in was to get my hair done for prom. I showed her a picture and she compained about how she didn't know what this side is suppose to look like but I just told her to leave it curled. She put way to much hair spray and teased it waaaay too much. I didn't even want it teased at all but she insisted that it would look better. I think without all the hairspray and teasing that hairstyle would have met my expectations. I'll admit, my hairstyle didn't look that simple anyways. But other than that, she was real sweet and easy to talk too. Don't like how you HAVE to make an appointment. If you don't have an appointment they complain about how they have no time for you... I am going to go here again for my eye brows and upper lip. Maybe for a haircut one day. I'm interested in getting the Japanese Hair Straightening. I've always wanted long beautiful lashes but wasn't ready to try the permanent individual lash extensions so one highly IMPULSIVE day as I was driving by Dan Vi Salon on Pacific, I decided to give artificial lash extensions a try. I had remembered such great reviews on Yelp so why the hell not? I told the lady it was my first time and didn't know what I wanted but I did want NATURAL looking lashes that were longer and fuller. She recommended the most popular style out right now, I don't remember what they were called but they are the ones that have 6 lashes per strand? I proceeded to lie down and let her do her "magic". 20 mins. later she hands me a mirror and I am surprised because they did n't look like the way I imagined. They were dark like I had applied too much mascara, lopsided and drew a lot of unwanted attention to my face. I am not the type of person to criticize or ask for a refund so I left the salon optimistic that somehow I would either adjust to it or it'd look better at home. Got home, stared at them and decided that what she did was not normal. One eye was perfect (with a lot of glue though) and the other eye....looked like I had been whoring around all night! It curled all the way up and there was a huge gap with no lashes on the inner part of my eye! It looked weird! Where's the picture option on this thing? I want u guys to see how BAD it was! Browse my page and look for some EYES and you can judge for yourself. I'd love input if I was over reacting! So I called them back, asked if I could have them taken off and she said yes. Came back in the salon, she kept saying "it look good, you get use to it". She explained to me that the lashes curled differently because my own lashes curled differently and that the gap was because I had no real lashes there to adhere the artificial ones to. First, I have Asian lashes, they DON'T curl so how the hell did the fake ones curl all the way up to my brows? Second, I do have lashes on my inner lids because when I fixed them myself 3 hrs later, that's where I put the artificial lashes! Anyways she played with them for awhile, then trimmed the one that curled up too much which made it look EVEN WORSE!!! Now the lashes on the left eye were all the same length! She told me I couldn't take them off, it would be about a week before the glue start to wear off. She did NOT offer my money back (I'm not the person to ask for $ back but she should have given me my $25 back!) She really wanted to keep that $25!!! I left the salon voice cracked, frowning about to cry-that's how bad they were! I went to Walgreens, bought a lash kit for $12 and added lashes to the naked spots. I wore sunglasses for 2 weeks. What she did NOT not tell me was that the glue on the lashes come out at different times so sometimes you can have gaps of NO lashes. Luckily I am handy and had my kit with me to fix that. She had put so much glue on the lashes that 2.5 weeks later my artificial lashes are gone but some chunks of glue are still on my natural lashes (which are nearly non-existent as the glue also took out some of my natural lashes). I wishes she would have explained to me some of the cons. I was under the impression that they were easy to remove if I did not want them. Also I wished they would have cared more about me by giving me my money back or having me come in again a week later to see if they could help me remove them or even fix them! If I could give this place NO stars I would. I learned my lesson. 1. Love what God gave you. Your lashes are beautiful already. 2. Never make beauty decisions impulsively 3. Never go into a salon with an empty parking LOT 4. You really get what you pay for. 5. Never receive services from someone if they only tell you the CONS. read more
