I came back shortly after my first review for a picnic so I was able to explore a little more! My boyfriend and I were able to find a parking spot on 48th street which was perfect since there was a path leading down to the park. 48th street is a dead-end with multiple spots which are in front of houses so you may find a spot if you're lucky. My boyfriend and I walked from our spot to a space overlooking the water. On our walk there I saw a cute bike and walking/running paths along the way so I definitely know where I'll be going my next walk! At first, I wasn't sure if we could sit on the grass since I didn't see many people sitting on it around us but once we set everything up park patrol just drove by and that's it. I like how park patrol drives around as it makes me feel safe and secure. As time went on, the park started getting a bit more crowded with adults and children biking, walking, running, skating but nothing too crazy. It was nice to see everyone enjoying the weather! Can't wait to go back to check out the walking paths! read more

It's a nice huge park for every ages. They updated the playground equipment. The bathrooms are clean. I love bird watching when I'm here.

Nice city park with a variety of options. Wish the bathrooms provided more comforts and amenities like TP and soap and paper towels but I get that is difficult. Sucks that is has to be that way because of people that thinks it stuff to take home. read more

I been to Bayonne many times but this was my first time ever seen this park. I decided to check it out since its huge. The park its very well kept and I saw softball, baseball and soccer fields. Also noticed a running track. I love the path by the water for joggers and walkers, I will be coming back to jog since I didn't have my sneakers. As I was leaving I noticed some people fishing, not sure I would want any fish coming out of that water but hey more power to them. Another pro was the many different parking lots. If you one is full just keep driving and you can park at the next one. read more

This neighborhood destination is commonly called Bayonne Park, and less commonly called Stephen R. Gregg Bayonne County Park. I've only been here during the daytime, so I cannot speak to how it is after dusk. This 100-acre green space is packed with plenty of mature trees, picnic sites, bike trail, ball fields, track course, spray pool, community center, water view, and pathways for a peaceful stroll with the family or dog. The few moments I had with my dog at Bayonne Park brought a smile to my lips in the middle of washing dishes tonight. My husband has mentioned how he encourages the dog to stalk pigeons. Odd, I know. The peaceful greenery, pollen-dusted urban pathways, carefree children's laughter, tree filtered shades, birds, and squirrels make coming here a pleasure. Bayonne Park is a cozy Hudson County urban oasis. read more

I love the tracks at this park. It's right by my place so if I'm up for a quick jog it's super convenient. There's never really a lot of people which I like. I mean who wants to dodge people when they're trying to clear their mind right? The good and bad thing about this location though is that it's right by the water. On a hot day, you get a really cool breeze but on a cold day it's super freezing. It's a really small park as well so you can run the whole park without getting lost. The park is a little hilly so you can get a really good workout in or you can take a romantic stroll on the boardwalk. There's a large lawn for tanning, soccer, and Etc.. There's also a basketball court as well. My only suggestion is to avoid hitting the tracks 3-5pm on week days as it gets packed due to cross country and track teams from high schools near by. read more

This is one of the treasures of Bayonne, even though it's managed by Hudson County and not the city. It's a huge park with lots of draw. Picnic tables, grills, a big kids play area with spray park, a track, basketball courts, lovely scenery along Newark Bay, bocci courts and fields for soccer, baseball and softball. You'll always see people fish along the pier, exercise or just sitting and taking in the view. What's not to love? read more

This park is deceptively large. You can only really see 1/3 of the park while driving by on JFK, that area is shaded and there is enough space for lots of family BBQs and gatherings out of all those UV rays. Also on the opposite side of the boulevard are multiple tennis courts If you are looking to tan or want nice level ground to bike/jog, than there is a stretch of land beyond the tree ridge that suits your needs. There are entrances to that area of the park on the northern and southern sides of the park. Down there hosts a track for running, a baseball field, basketball courts and a great view of the river. I personally love biking here, level square for biking. There's a refreshing breeze and and cool things to look at along the bay (shipping ports, airplanes landing and taking off... better than being on an elliptical, haha). Very clean, usually no hood-rats, and lots of fishermen. Sign me up. read more

I like you, Bayonne County Park! Must be the ridiculous number of early last-century structures. Old stonework, sculpted, rolling land, arched bridges, symmetrical landscaping ... It just sits there, all day long, waiting for me to traipse over and wander. Wander the pathways under a road and into the giant sports field, across and to the waterfront. Then it's a half hour of reflection, shuffling down the pier, staring off across the water watching giant ships being loaded with giant containers. I like you, Bayonne Country Park. read more

So I lift. Yes, I'm a buff dude so it goes without saying that I lift. Running...now that's another story. I'm not genetically built for this activity. Without Bayonne Park's proximity to the water, I'm not sure I could run my daily 5K's. The sound of the waves crashing is very serene and conducive to focusing on my jogs/runs. This park has b-ball courts and baseball / softball fields / track / bathrooms (not port-a-johns) and grills (no, not grills that Lil Wayne has on his teeth, bbq grills) Of note, the sound of Mr.Softee following me around the park makes me run faster so I can get a vanilla soft cone. read more

Love to bring my son to this park. There is so much to do. There is a kids play area around 46th street and it has a lot of sprinklers so it almost like a very mini water park. Also if you go down to like 40th there is a BBQ area with benches. Bring your own BBQ and you can have a birthday party or even a family day. If you go down there are race tracks and it's right by the water too. Pretty convenient and fun :) read more

Everything you need for a day outdoors. Beautiful park. They have basketball courts, an all weather track, baseball fields, soccer fields, fields to just play around in, grassy hills, bike paths, sitting areas, picnic areas, and everything else you would possible want or need for a day in the open air. They even have restrooms with metal urinals and puddles of pee. All in all I recommend this place to anybody and everybody doing anything outside. read more

I really love coming here to relax. This park is beautiful and it's on the waterfront, which I like very much. It also has everything you could really ask for in a park, such as playgrounds, walking/jogging paths, nice bike tracks, sports fields, etc. But the thing that makes it such a nice experience for me is the old structures and architecture, very nice arched bridges and tons of stonework. I'm just docking one star because sometimes it isn't the cleanest environment. Nothing crazy dirty or disgusting, but makes you feel like it could have been better in that department. This park is a Gem! The grounds are maintained very well and are actually quite scenic throughout the seasons. It's well lit and safe when dark out (imo). It has a lot to offer for most anyone... I particularly love the professional style track, recently renovated tennis courts and the playground (where I spend most of my time w my 2 toddlers). We frequent playgrounds most everywhere we go and I must say, the playground at this park is my favorite. It's HUGE and the sprinklers in the warm weather are really awesome. Only con is that on the weekends the playground is overly crowded, so we only go during the weekdays. We really love this park and all it offers. I have zero complaints about it! read more

I'm in Bayonne for a week visiting my family. I always come here to go for a run or take my daughter to feed the ducks at the pond in the lower level of the park. So many good memories here. My dad and I would go crabbing here, bring them home, and eat em'. I know that sign didn't exist 15 years ago but now there is a warning how those crabs cause cancer but we are just fine. read more

This place is one of the best parts of Bayonne! It is never packed, dog and BBQ friendly, the track is nice for working out, and there is a ton of room to fly hobby planes, kites etc. It is a nice quiet get away and definitely a change from the bustle of NYC and a heck of a lot closer than Central Park! read more

Bayonne county park is so big and full of many different activities you could do. I play basketball so when I comes to training I'll use the track they have or I'll just run around the perimeter of the park . Right next to the track is the basketball courts and there's also baseball fields,soccer&football fields, and a large playground for the kids with sprinklers in it for the summer. Near the playground is a playground for dogs which is so cool because dogs meet other dogs and just run around in their playground and have fun. There's a lot of hills which are useful when it comes to working out and in between the track and basketball courts are long steps that a lot of people use to workout including me. The park has pretty views of the water and it has a big area for bbqs and picnics . You could spend a whole day at the park doing things. The park is so useful for athletes , or people who just want to relax or spend time with their friends and family and just have fun. read more

I was in Bayonne today and had some spare time and decided to check out one of my old childhood haunts. I lived in Bayonne from 1967-77 and have many fond childhood memories from playing in the park. I must say that the park looks better now than we left in 1977. At that time alot of it was getting pretty run down, but so were so many cities in the 1970's. They really improved the waterfront part of it since then. In the 1970's the bulkhead was made of wood and really run down. They put a nice walkway the whole length of the waterfront for jogging and walking. The track, which used to be cinders is now made of modern rubber type material. The big playground, which was my favorite part as a child has been modernized. When I was a kid it was pretty dangerous with a gravel surface that would embed small stones in your knees when you fell down. They also had these swings in the form of horses made of cast iron. I remember kids getting clobbered by those on more than one occasion. They filled in the killy pond down by the bay. I remember skating there in the winter and they had a warming hut. Overall the park has aged well over the past 37 years and I am glad to see they are keeping it up. It is such an asset for the City of Bayonne. read more
