The Lincoln Square Shopping Center is home to the Lazy Daisy Cafe where I had breakfast on a trip to the University of Illinois. While Lazy Daisy was good, there is not much more at the mall that interested me. While waited for our table at Lazy Daisy, we walked around the shopping center. There was a second hand store for arts and crafts projects which was cool but there doesn't seem to be much else going on at the mall. Still, there must be some stores worth checking out because the parking lot was nearly full. read more

Lincoln Square was a shopping center that has been around for over 50 years. Though it doesn't have the big name stores it use to, They have a lot of small businesses that need support of the community. There are several categories of businesses: Health & Wellness, Retail Shopping, Restaurants, Business offices, & Community Services. I was very surprised when I realized how many business was here in the shopping center. The even have some empty spaces that are available to lease to start a business in. Very happy to see that they are still operating. read more

I've been here a few times, and it really is a strange mall. Though I typically come here for the Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings, that's really the only reason to come here at all. There are a few stores, a couple restaurants, as well as a gym. The times I've been here besides going to the Farmer's Market, there's been hardly anyone here though. It's kind of sad, really. It has ample space for the Farmer's Market, which is nice, and there's a lot of parking available. All in all, there's not a lot going on here. read more

This mall is a barren ghost-town; it is almost eerie to walk through sometimes. There are very few businesses open and the layout can be a bit confusing. I opted to wait to use the restroom because the whole place made me feel too uncomfortable (and it was tricky to follow their signs and find). There are a few places in the mall that seem to do ok and bring some people, but they are all on the outskirts or can be accessed from the outside. There is a grocery store/ co-op that has some interesting products if you are into what they offer I could see how that would be nice. The gym has always had at least someone working out each time I have been there, but I always thought it was weird to watch people workout in the storefront window (and would never want to be on the other side having people watch me workout). There is a Asian restaurant on one side of the mall that is good for a bite to eat, and maybe one of the only reasons to even enter the parking lot. The mall does have a food court, with one, maybe two businesses, but I have never seen any of them open. It really is a shame, the mall could be beautiful. The mall itself and the buildings attached to it have some interesting architecture, there is a fair amount of parking and the location is fine. It just has no real draw. I can honestly say in the years that I have lived in the area I have went here maybe a few times a year and it has gone downhill every time. It is the shell of something that might have been a gem for the town, but has been left to rot. read more

Oh Lincoln Square Mall, you are what old friends and I have dubbed "The Sad Mall." Your halls are cool and spacious, void of customers. Sometimes you're exciting when you host events like the model train show, kitten adoption fair, or charity chocolate buffet, but most of the time you are quiet like a grandmother's house. You are my Anti-MarketplaceMall and I love you for it. Art Mart is cool. If you want baby clothes, healing crystals, food places that never seem to be open when you're there, or to work out at the gym, this is a great place for that too. read more

Great location and shopping comes easy. There's a Lids hat store here and I grabbed several hats from the awesome clerk working there.

Nice place for the craft show we attended today. Some stores are closed but the facility itself was clean and parking was very pleantiful!

Suburbanites don't seem to know how to deal with a place like Lincoln Square, which is a good thing in my opinion. Instead what was once a dead mall is now an asset to the People's Republic of Urbana :) It's got mid-century architecture, and a lot of interesting stores that are most definitely not the usual mall chain stores. I like the art supplies store, the quilting shop, and the Chinese restaurant. There's a good sized natural foods supermarket too, but that's a bit too pricey for me. All in all, a great alternative to the hellish shopping areas north of I-74. read more

Since I last wrote, a few new stores have come in and the Transitions used clothing shop has expanded. It also seems a bit more lively, but perhaps it was just because I was there during the holidays. The place has a strange aura, especially with the odd hotel. But I've grown up in this town and have fond memories of hanging out there, especially at Christmas time. It is in no way your "typical" mall and I think that to compare it to other malls is perhaps the wrong way to look at this place. It is what it is and it certainly does have an interesting mix of different shops. It is in dire need of a facelift, but perhaps it's whole retro environment has a unique charm to it. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could. read more

This indoor shopping mall is balanced between housing well-known names such as Hallmark and Radioshack, and local businesses. There a few great places for unusual gifts, such as Art Mart. Sadly, they've lost many retail businesses and have started relying on office space rental to stay alive. They used to have a Carsons as their main store, but it closed and became a Herberger's - that closed too and I think they'll be lucky to get another big store in there. I hope they draw some new tenants because it's ideally located and has always had a great feel. read more

This is a very unusual mall. It is coming back from the dead. New businesses are actually moving back into it. Soon, it will have a really nice yoga studio. This February, most likely. read more

This is an awful mall. For the four years I went here I might have come here twice! They had pretty much no stores here because everything was shut down! The location is great but they need to do some remodeling and bring some better stores in! read more
