The staff is kind and thorough - safety is a priority. The gear and courses are well maintained. I especially liked the no-fail track system they have in place. Once you're on a course you would have to literally make a concerted effort to come off of it. Naturally if you need off then a staff member can help right away, but it's not like anyone's going to fall off. You can do short adventures, long adventures, and anything in between. There's even a 40-foot free fall (the Monkey Drop) for any thrill seekers. This is a great place for an outdoor adventure. Recommended!

The swimming area is always the perfect temperature, and our campsite comes with a little private beach which is great for laying out in the sand or just enjoying a swim. The campsites are generally clean and well-maintained, and there are plenty of picnic tables available. They also offer public swimming areas with buoys for safety, which is great for kids. However, I'm giving it 4 stars because the public beaches could be better maintained they just aren't as nice as the private spots included with the campsites. Overall, if you're looking to camp or park your RV close enough to Omaha for convenience but still want to get away, this is a great place. It's never been too crowded when we've visited, and it's perfect for soaking up the sun, enjoying the outdoors, and spending quality time by the water.

I don't know why this place is so popular. It was pretty gross. The sites for tents were mowed ok but there was garbage everywhere. Garbage in the grass, garbage in the trees, and garbage floating in all of the lakes. Even the swimming beach was covered in trash. It was way too packed to feel any sense of seclusion either. We were listening to kids screaming at their parents, parents threatening their kids, and blaring stereos all evening. I guess if you owned a boat or a jet ski and somehow couldn't afford to drive it anywhere better then this place might have some appeal but there are so many nicer places in eastern Nebraska to camp at and spend time outdoors.

The name Dead Timber is very apt for this park, but not in a bad way…read more It's just very bygone feeling, like it's been the spot of many historic movements in nature. There are rickety bridges that are long closed down, and uprooted trees that are still standing and growing, against all odds. Aside from the cool old style feel of Dead Timber, there are actually some fun things you can do here too, like camping, trail hiking, and fishing. It's about an hour outside of Omaha, so it's an easy little day trip or activity with the family or by yourself (as it's very isolated feeling too so it would be cool to be by yourself out there!) I'd say this isn't the top of any of the Nebraska parks/recreation areas, in terms of maintenance or things to do, but it does have its own little charm.

I used to attend this…read moregym back in my high school days, but returning as an adult I can see just the hub of community that it has become. The variety of having a pool, a basketball court, a running track, lifting areas, cycling rooms, workout classes for members and guests, and more makes it optimal for all types of active people. The front desk staff is attentive and kind, very helpful if you need anything. The staff working the weights floor is mostly young teens, but they regularly clean and are available when needed. I have taken a few workout classes and absolutely loved it! There is a great amount of high quality equipment that is provided, and the space itself is very clean. Floor to ceiling mirrors allowed me to see my form, and to face the opposite way and still see the instructor. The instructor herself was friendly and uplifting, and kept the workout class moving while still ensuring we all understood each movement and what we were working. The staff came in and cleaned our mats afterwards, which is reassuring! The locker rooms are very clean and spacious in my opinion. There is always free space, and also three mirrors with vanity space if you need to get ready after your workout. There are also three showers, and an ADA friendly option as well. I highly recommend Common Ground if you are in need of a family friendly gym with plenty of variety and clean, updated, facilities!

Love this little lake Treasure located just outside Ashland (between Omaha and Lincoln). It's got…read moreamazing primitive tent campgrounds on the lake with wonderful views and relaxing spots. Also has camper spaces. It doesn't get the traffic like big camp grounds in my experience so it's more peaceful and costs significantly less- only $8 for primitive camping ($5 more for vehicle permit if you don't have state park pass). When I was there in May I had the whole camp ground to myself save one other camper on the edge of the park. Camping is self-sign up with slips around park. Has fire pits and wonderful lake with tons of birds and avian wildlife to see and listen too. Hundreds of baby geese. Good fishing and local Dons Bar is the only food stop in Memphis so don't be afraid go on in and try a cheeseburger or fish- the bartenders super friendly-Also get fire wood there too. It isn't a far drive from Omaha- 35minutes if there's no road construction and is better than most campsites in platte or Mahoney. Take a trip there it's worth it!

Great pride is clearly taken in the grounds, the pull-through sites upkeep and showers/restrooms... everything! Todd (I think) led us to our site and answered all questions, also filled us in with some other info that was both interesting and useful.. clearly just loves people and creating the best experience possible for them.
