The term "speakeasy" came about during the Prohibition when alcohol was illegal in the United States. People wanting to buy alcohol could do so in hidden bars but were warned to whisper or speak "easy" when entering so as to avoid attention. What makes Lincolns more like a speakeasy than any other I have been to is the difficulty in finding it! After a few minutes of poking around the area, we did find it and it was worth it. It is quite a spacious place with lots of references to our 16th President. Drinks are all priced at $5 and they accept cash only. I had a tasty cider and my husband had an IPA, but I think I would get a cocktail next time at that price. They also offer a few snacks but don't go there expecting to get a real meal. When we were leaving, we were talking to the doorman about giving our friends directions to find it. He replied, "well, what's the fun in that?" He was right! But, once you find it, it is so worth it. The attention to detail and keeping up with the theme is hilarious! We sat in the John Wilkes Booth booth and sipped on our $5 (for any) drink. While this place is cash only, they do have an ATM inside. Many spirits, beers, and NA drinks are featured on their menu. The one food item- Chili Mac N Cheese sounded tempting as well. Boy did we have to search to find this hidden bar as the only way to contact (for now) is via Instagram. Well worth the search. You must find the doors that lead you to many metal stairs as you descend into a bar dedicated to Lincoln - the man, the myth, the president on the $5 bill. ALL drinks are $5 and cash only. There is a nice selection of spirits and mixers. You must go up to the bar to order your drink and take it back to your table. Bartenders are very friendly. Step on over past the piano to the John Wilkes Booth booth to rest and enjoy your drink while you admire the many different Lincolns in the decor. After being properly having our ids checked which I appreciate- we went straight to the bar. Pick your passion. Beer or spirit with a mixer or grab their signature cocktail the "Continental, either way enjoy a reasonable priced drink out. Bartenders are friendly and chill. Hubs got the signature and I got a tequila and tonic with limes. Don't judge me. We sat in a nice corner, downloaded on the ridiculousness of our weeks, had another cocktail and enjoyed the music. We left after the place started to fill up. We didn't try the food, but we didn't need to. We went for cocktails. Worth the search, the cash, and the time. It's a nice venue but that's the only good thing. The guy at the door couldn't be bothered to dress the part or talk in a way that gives the speakeasy vibe. The place was empty when we went in and sat down. The bar maid was busy talking to her barfly friend and couldn't be bothered to ask us what we wanted to drink, so I had to get it myself. The only "food" was canned chili mac and a bag of chips (lame). There was generic liquor on the shelf that the bar maid couldn't even make a simple mixed drink with. There were a few beers on tap but nothing worth going there for. It has T shirts and hats for sale but I don't know why I would want to advertise their place. I have never felt so upset, i never leave a review on a bar but i had such a terrible experience i feel like i need to. they decided to serve us at 1:50, saying we wouldn't be asked to leave at 2. at 2, they ripped our drinks out of our hands and physically shoved us out the door. we were waiting for one of our girlfriends who was in the bathroom, and in their process of getting physical, they said "we won't kidnap her". super weird thing to say, and with the bar being so empty we couldn't believe how aggressive the staff was. totally ruined our night, they need to change their staff i have never had an experience like that. 0/10 read more

Met up with a friend and took the light rail to go speakeasy hunting in downtown Denver and this was our first spot. The location is walking distance from Union Station and takes a little bit of hunting to find but we managed to get in without too much of a struggle. It's a cash only bar and all drinks are $5 which is fun and fits the old fashioned atmosphere.
