We visited Dr Dahl in 2015 to have our baby examined to see if he should get tongue-tie surgery because he was having trouble breastfeeding. The front desk asked us to sign a release form whose language was intended for after an initial consultation before Dr Dahl even examined our child. The doctor tried to pressure us into agreeing to have her do the procedure. The ambiance of the office waiting room felt more like a cosmetic surgery practice than a bona fide medical office: fancy flowers and decor along with a brisk manner that seemed profit focused rather than primarily curative. Reading today's NYT piece "Inside the Booming Business of Cutting Babies' Tongues" published Dec. 18, 2023 makes us delighted that we never went ahead with this. read more

Came here to do my newborn's tongue and lip tie in April. We were happy with the results. Dr Dahl is a professional and knows what she is doing. This review is for the accounting/billing department. I received a statement later on and paid in full. A month later, I received another statement for a significantly lesser amount. Called the billing department and they said they to disregard the second statement. It was strange and I probed further. They confirmed I overpaid the first statement, by quite a large amount, mind you. I just felt it was dishonest of them to tell me to disregard the second statement. They should have just apologised and offered a refund. I would be understanding and accepted their apology. But because they tried to hide the fact that I overpaid and told me to disregard the second statement, I feel cheated and upset. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Dahl. She is not only the best ENT I have ever encountered, she is the best doctor - period. A lot of specialists stay in their lane and only really know how to diagnose and treat things within their narrow realm of training and experience. But Dr. Dahl always looks at the bigger picture. So many things affect the ears, nose and throat and she looks at everything in context to see what the real issue is, versus just medicating the symptom. I know this sounds crazy but I almost feel like she's tapped into something psychic or spiritual. She always somehow gets to the source of the problem staggeringly quickly. And yet I never feel rushed out of the office. She always takes the time to explain everything to me and discuss the best treatment plan. I'm a patient myself but I also work as a broadway conductor and I have sent many singers to see her over the years (and many friends and colleagues, for a variety of issues). They have all come back raving about her as well and she has always taken impeccable care of them. Multiple times, I have seen her diagnose and treat problems in one session that were ignored or misdiagnosed by other doctors. She is a true healer. She is also one of very few doctors who incorporate eastern and western medicine and understand how they can work in harmony. In other words, she's not afraid to give someone steroids or antibiotics if it's clear that's what the patient needs - but she doesn't just go around handing out prescriptions like candy to churn patients through her office. She looks at what the patient actually needs to heal, which is often a combination of prescription medication along with supplements or vitamins or changes in diet or behavior. It is clear she treats her practice like an art - a lost art if you ask me - where it is less about running a business and more about actually healing people. She is honestly a miracle worker. And a beautiful human being. She takes such good care of me that I don't see her very often - but sometimes I wish I could get sick just to be able to go see her. She always heals my spirit as well as my physical being. Not to mention that the office staff are first rate and the office itself is so comfortable. It almost feels more like a spa than a doctor's office. I've hesitated to post a review because I worry that if the secret gets out it will become impossible to get an appointment with her. My little baby had tongue tie. Dahl's office space was scary. It was a series of tent-rooms with no privacy or sound barricades. It seemed like a Bedouin camp. It resulted in blood-curling screams of babies filling the space. Not a soothing environment. She did solve the tongue-tie. But the doctor's bedside manner was quick and factory-like. She over promised and said the baby would latch immediately after the snip. My partner had trouble getting a latch after. I felt rushed out of the office -- a quick one-sheet of instructions to "just keep trying." The cost was around $3500 for the brief moments and procedures of the doctor. read more

Had my first appointment with Dr Dahl last month and it was great. The staff was courteous and the Doctor was patient and very informative. I have known for awhile I need a tonsillectomy, but no ENT doctor I've seen in the past wanted to do the procedure saying they don't perform tonsillectomys on adults anymore. Alright, I cannot praise Dr. Dahl enough. I happened upon her looking for someone in my network and selected her more at random and because her office is relatively close to my apartment. Little did I know that I selected broadways best ENT. I saw a Tony Nominee leaving as I went in and knew I'd be in good hands. I ended up needing vocal polyp surgery and it was the quickest, easiest surgery ever. I went in for my check up today and the photos prove it. She did the BEST job removing my polyps. I heard my laugh for the first time in MONTHS today and I'm so grateful. There's such a stigma around vocal health and this scary surgery and she made it seem like a walk in the park. Recommended to me by my voice teacher. I had persisting laryngitis that wouldn't go away. After unsuccessful treatments from my primary care and urgent care, Dr Dahl was my saving grace. I would give this doctor zero stars if I could. I came multiple times and had to wait over an hour twice to be seen. With a 4 month and then 6 month old this is absolutely unacceptable and is a reflection on how poorly Dr. Dahl runs her office and patient calendar. I experienced multiple terrible experiences with this office: My first appointment here was a somewhat positive experience. At three weeks old, Dr. Dahl performed a frenectomy for my son. The office was full of patients and we greatly appreciated the lactation support we received from a technician after seeing Dr. Dahl. The wait was approximately 20 minutes. My second appointment - we returned when my son was six months old. We returned as we were told by a lactation specialist and GI that the frenectomy did not work and the tongue tie had grown back. Dr. Dahl uses scissors and not a laser so often her procedures aften need redos. We waited over an hour for Dr. Dahl to see us. She diagnosed that 'it really wasnt very bad' and recommended we proceed by injecting steroids under the tongue to help dissipate the scar tissue as an intermediate step to a second frenectomy. Once she was done and I went to check out, the staff person behind the desk was having a bad day. She snapped at me multiple times and cut me off when I tried to correct the insurance information the office had one file. I was so upset at being treated so rudely that I asked to speak with a manager. She got up from her desk, yelled 'there is no manager here' and walked out of the room. I had a lactation specialist present who experienced the entire incident and comforted me after I burst into tears (still very hormonal) at the interaction. She has helped in communicating this terrible experience throughout her network as lactation specialists ofter provide recommendations for ENT doctors. My third visit was to communicate to Dr. Dahl the terrible experience I had had with her staff and to check up on the scar tissue. I was left in a patient room across the hall with no one else in that part of the office for 90 minutes. No one came and checked on me the entire time despite the fact that I checked in on the doctor *twice*. I finally left in frustration as my baby was hungry and frustrated saying 'never again'. We ended going to Dr. Siegel (who does all of Dr. Dahl 'redo's' who immediately saw us and provided the exact services we had been hoping for)...there was no wait time, he was incredibly attentive, informative, and wonderful with our then eight month old son. Dr. Siegel is out of network, which is why we initially went with Dr. Dahl, but had to come back multiple times b/c Dr. Dahl's work was incomplete. Also, Dr.Siegel stands by his work and wont charge you for follow up sessions like Dr. Dahl does b/c he's work has such a low rate of return. Just so you know - knowing that I walked out and was upset, and knowing I never came back, this doctor never attempted to follow up with me and apologize or get me to come back. Do you want that kind of a doctor? We do not. Parents - seeing your child have to go through multiple frenectomies are not worth the money, your time and their pain - just go to Dr. Siegel. If you do a little more online research you will see that this is the overwhelming opinion on parents websites and blogs. read more

This review is a reflection of the absurd lack of professionalism of Dr.Dahl's reception staff. We were referred to Dr.Dahl for our newborn's tongue tie and when attempting to get the information needed for insurance I was told verbatim that they would not help and "they are not doing this" and they hung up on me. I have never experienced such flagrant unprofessionalism, and certainly not in the medical field. This office does not deserve to see patients. Dr.Dahl, you have not responded to the criticism, which is the lack of professionalism by your staff. We sought out information needed to even speak to our insurance - your staff didn't even give us the courtesy to allow us to do that. They literally hung up mid conversation when trying to identify what was needed. You should not try to make excuses for this behavior; you should take accountability and fix the problem. My wife and I took our 2 month old baby to Dr. Dahl for a frenectomy for a tongue and lip tie. Our baby was able to breast feed but had trouble using a bottle once my wife went back to work. We decided to have the procedure done since she could not drink out of the bottle. Our experience with Dr. Dahl was great. She was really nice, knowledgeable, and was great with our baby. The whole procedure was very quick and done very quickly. Our baby was instantly able to open her mouth wider and tongue was not longer heart shaped. Dr. Dahl had the baby breast feed right afterward and helped with the new latch. Her assistant then came in and gave us more information. Sardine can waiting room, no coat hooks but tons of ugly art, too many patients so several have to stand up, always at least one crying baby surrounded by 30 family members. Extremely rude receptionist named Giovanna who tells patients that other doctors "suck so bad their patients come to us." Giovanna is rude on a level that one has to work to get to, so congratulations on accomplishing something. Doctor has been up to an hour late to appointments. Doctor has cancelled two appointments with less than 24 hrs notice with me in one week, one cancellation was 12 minutes before my appointment, but I bet she wouldn't hesitate to bill me for cancelling appointments 12 minutes before they start. They still haven't called me back regarding rescheduling. Dr Dahl distributes vastly outdated information that gives incorrect dates and preparation information regarding septoplasty, and don't expect more than a two word answer out of Giovanna for anything, IF you get a response. Dr. Dahl told me there wouldn't be bleeding for more than one day after my post-surgical cleaning. 15 days after the cleaning and my nose still bleeds every day. The surgery itself got infected right away, and it's been over two weeks since she declared it infected, and it's been an uphill battle trying to schedule an appointment with her. Update: the septoplasty Dr. Dahl gave me means I can't blow my nose anymore, all of my mucus just goes right down my throat, so for the rest of my life, I'll be making scrock noises all day every day to avoid vomiting from my own snot. And you should hear the noises other doctors make when they look up my nose. DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR FOR SURGERY. read more

Dr. Linda Dahl fixed my nose after a yellow belt in Martial Arts didn't hear the instructor's words "light touch only" during a drill when we were not allowed to wear protective gear. My nose has never looked straighter. Furthermore, I am very happy to refer to her as an expert in ankyloglossia (tongue tie). As a board certified lactation consultant I see many babies whose oral anatomy is challenging for their mothers due to pain and/or for the babies to get sufficient milk. So its great to work with an otolaryngologist who is mother, baby and breastfeeding friendly. What I like best about Dr. Dahl is that I don't have to worry about her merely doing a procedure on a baby just because she can or just to make money. She assesses babies very carefully and won't do a procedure if she thinks its unnecessary. Her office has a modern Moroccan look with a soft rich colors and a floor that looks opalescent. read more

We were recommended to Dr. Dahl from our pediatrician, for our baby's tongue tie issue. Dr. Dahl is an in-network provider for Emblem Health/GHI. When we presented the insurance card they basically refused to accept it. Our baby was 12 days old and not reflected on the insurance as of yet, but would be within a couple of days. This is common with newborns and the insurance is retroactive as of the baby's birthdate once the systems update. If the claim is covered, great. If not, the office sends a bill and the customer pays. Really simple stuff to understand. No one is reinventing the wheel here. Long story short, the two office workers we dealt with (Yvonne and Kaylin) gave us every single excuse that made absolutely no sense as to why they could not take the insurance and bill it, and demanded cash payment for services rendered on the spot. We were then told to file a reimbursement claim with the insurance company. When I called insurance to explain they were not happy at all, and had to call the office and tell them how to process bills correctly. They were told to bill the insurance and if approved they need to refund us our cash payment. We'll see how this goes. When you're in-network you are contracted with the insurance company. Sounds like misconduct to me to get paid quicker and decrease the business receivables. A medical office/Dr. Is either an in-network provider or not. You either accept insurance or you only accept cash for your services. If you don't like the insurance payouts then remove yourself from being a provider and break your agreement with the insurance company. read more

One of the worst in-office experiences I have ever encountered. I arrived with my 10 day old baby for a Tongue tie consultation and was escorted into the breastfeeding lounge. We sat there for a full hour past our appt time without being seen by Dr Dahl, nor did the nurses check in to let us know what was happening. Furthermore, they put us in a tented room with dirty equipment - a surgical scissor which lay on top of paper with dried blood. Absolutely disgusting. When my husband went to the desk to complain, the nurses claimed they didn't realize Dr Dahl hadn't seen us yet and said she was sitting in her office. I have been to this "doctor" only once with my girlfriend. 1 thing I knew before I went there. Front desk not very helpful and "doctor" so hard to reach on the phone. Typical overbooked "doctor". Had to wait for quite a while. I got in the room with my girlfriend because I was worried about her case. "Doctor" Dahl came in a rush. I noticed that the whole time we were talking to her she was typing in the computer. She didn't really want to take an extra minute to absorb our words. She only cared to type. Like what a secretary would do. She was the type of "doctor" who didn't care about the progress of things. She said."ok what were you taking before? Now take these ones." I felt we were something like test animals. Anyway the whole time I felt like she was ready to leave. One foot on the stool one on the floor. If we didn't ask a couple of extra questions she would have been in the room for 5 minutes. And as soon as we ran out of something to say she was gone! To conclude, I am 31 years old and I have seen many many doctors in my life. I don't consider Mrs Dahl one of them. It would be a disgrace for the whole field of medicine. But I do have to say one good thing. She is running a great business. So if you want to take some classes how to make your business as profitable as it can get I would definitely recommend her. P.S. The services I received were, consultation $461, nasal endoscopy $472, ear wax removal $380. I cannot comprehend how these charges are justified. Staff was efficient and courteous, office space is intimate and pretty and Dahl took time to explain everything and ensure he latched properly after the procedure. After several days of e-mailing back and forth for a possible consultation I decided to call after my last e-mail went unanswered. I was trying to have the Doctor see my 6 month old baby for a possible tongue tie. First question asked was if she has any teeth, i informed the individual just as i did over my e-mail my baby tooth just erupted this week and its a only the incisal edge not the entire tooth that has erupted. I was then told the doctor does not see baby with teeth because of fear of the baby biting her.
