I've seen Dr. Szubin over the years for various sinus, ear and throat issues. She has always fixed them. I've always found her knowledgeable, unhurried, a good listener and explainer, and pleasant to be with. I believe she's an outstanding ENT doctor. I'm now in my 80's, and I've received care from dozens of top specialists (either in Manhattan or Boston) over the years; among them, I rate Dr. Szubin and one other doctor in Boston as the *very best* of numerous *very highly qualified* doctors. For those considering treatment by Dr. Szubin but who have doubts because a few of the reviewers here are your typical Yelp negative morons, I suggest that you'll be doing yourself a disservice by going elsewhere. I HAD been plagued with post nasal drip from seasonal allergies for years. It was so annoying coughing non stop sometimes for weeks, even months. With these times a single cough can make people hate you. Dr Szubin first tried a prescription and it worked for a solid two years then it no longer was good enough. Lisa Szubin performed an unauthorized procedure while I was under anesthesia, for which she billed my insurance. Further, with regard to the procedure that was agreed upon, she made the problem worse. Additionally, she and her staff are incredibly rude and have a chip on their shoulder. read more

I went to Dr. Szubin a long time ago for a really nasty strep infection that put me in the hospital for four days. Dr. Szubin took excellent care of me, she even popped my nasty abscess and sucked all the pus out of my throat. How cool is that? When not saving lives Dr. Szubin also takes the time to tell you, 'you really don't have mono/strep/encephalitis/rheumatic fever...' or whatever other sickness you may have found on wikipedia that kind of sounds like your basic common cold. I have had trouble breathing through my nose for years, and my general doctors have never been able to diagnose my nose issues until dr. Jeremy Stoepker (also 5 star doctor) referred me to Dr. Szubin. She was able to quickly diagnose my issue (deviated septum) and give me different options to treat the issue. Today I returned home after my septoplasty to fix my nose. I feel no pain and in the brief time before the swelling I could breathe clearly through my nose. Dr. Szubin even called me personally after I arrived home to check how I was doing and give me further instructions and answer any questions I had. read more

I was referred to Dr. Szubin by my GP. I was happy with the service and, although the office is tiny, it was efficient. What I was extremely unhappy about was the cost. I came to Dr. Szubin with an ear infection which could have easily been diagnosed and treated. Instead she whipped out a special tube device and spent maybe 1 minute looking up my nose and sinuses. The bill for that procedure was $500 over and above the $325 office consultation. There was no discussion about the cost or the procedure itself, which is the part that is so galling. I would not recommend Dr. Szubin to anyone. read more

Found Dr Szubin through a rec from my PCP. I was having issues breathing and a clogged feeling in my left eustachian tube, which also caused strange pressure and hearing issues at times. I would wake up unrested and feeling like a zombie all day although I would sleep a reasonable number of hours at night. My nasal passages behind my back teeth would feel inflamed and swollen. She evaluated my symptoms and did a physical examination which lead her to believe that I had several different issues. I had a deviated nasal septum, chronic sinusitis, and tinnitus. I had already tried, for several years (5+), many different ways to resolve my issues and none had seemed to help. When I was given the choice, I opted for Surgery. During the entire process she was professional and knowledgable, answering any questions I had. I always felt like I was in good hands. It took several months to recover, but now I can breathe normally and I wake up feeling rested. I no longer feel the clogged feeling around my left eustachian tube, which was so disruptive to my day to day life. She helped me get my life back and I am very thankful! read more

I dont normally write reviews but I had such a wonderful experience with Dr. Szubin that I feel compelled to let everyone know. Basically, I have had a deviated septum my entire life. This means I could never fully blow my nose, I was always congested, I got nose bleeds on the regular and every time I got a cold I was done for. Thankfully, I was referred to Dr. Szubin by a family friend. Here is the quick run down: I made an appointment and got it exactly when was convenient for me. I walked in and was greeted by a very friendly and helpful lady at the front desk. The office was newly renovated, very clean and crisp, really made me feel good. I waited for about 6 minutes ( all new magazines at the waiting area). Dr. Szubin could not possibly have been nicer. She calmly explained to me what my condition was and simply informed me what my options were. Dr. Szubin was extremely professional and knowledgeable, she answered each of my questions head on (even those about the cost which most doctors avoid). I decided to go ahead with the surgery (my decision with absolutely no pressure from Dr. Szubin). I had the procedure done on a thursday morning and I was back to work ready to go the following Monday. No one at my office had any idea that I got the procedure done - zero outside facial changes. Today, I feel great and I can actually BREATHE properly out of my nose. This was a big deal for me and I am so happy I chose Dr. Szubin, she was really incredible. read more

One of the best dr. I ever had, no waiting time, amazing listener and professional, I would highly recommend this doctor. I came in for an ear infection and I also had oral thrush. She also tested me for cultures, she knew immediately what my problem was and I was finally treated for the right symptoms. I wish she would be a general doctor that's how good she is. She is very nice and kind and very knowledgeable and it feels like talking to a friend, sometimes some doctors make me uncomfortable to talk to. Following a 15+ year career in the travel and hotel industry, my inner ear and sinus problems had reached an unbearable level of misery and pain. While under her care i had the same sinus infection for FOUR months because she didn't run a culture to find out the type of bacteria i had, she instead just prescribed the same treatment four times in a row - Levaquin - that turns our was resistant to the bacteria!! I only found this out when i finally went i went to get a second opinion. She said surgery was really the only option when it turns out all i needed was the right medicine and for a doctor to listen to my concerns when i said the Levaquin didn't work. I would NEVER recommend her!!!!! read more

To update: I don't know if it was coincident to my prior Yelp review but I received a voicemail on 2/1/2016 from someone from Dr. Szubin's office (not the doctor) who left a message with instructions that my scan had been approved and I should call a third party to schedule the appointment (there appear to be missed calls on my cell from the same number a day or two prior but no message was left those times). In the voicemail there was no mention of my prior issues regarding service problems, in fact my name wasn't mentioned at all in the message, it just said this is so and so from Dr. Szubin's office, you have to do xyz in order to get your scan done... I called the office back and explained I would not be using their practice anymore, to which the person on the line politely said okay. Added a star to the previous review because someone actually finally called back with info about getting the scan, can't give more stars because the prior issues weren't addressed and the customer service remained detached/uninterested. read more
