They have multiple parts to their building, including a small theater where they put on performances. We were here for a couple of hours while the one cofounder talked us through everything the school does. We got a full tour and quite the education on how things will work. Encouragement to be ourselves, commitment to being present helps even the shyest among us shine. Positive immediate feedback helps us progress while homework and serious study leads to success. This is not a passive education- this is a hands on, what you put in is what you get out type conservatory, In addition to Meisner acting, the school provides useful resources and information like job boards, how to audition, write a resume, headshots, find an agent and more. Marco and Robb and Sam are the most gracious and open people so no question is denied. Back story: Our…read moredaughter is a high functioning child diagnosed with autism. Autism doesn't mean your child is weird, isolated, can't learn, slow or any of those stereotypes. It just mean they perceive the world differently. They learn differently. As a parent, we have to accommodate her learning styles. One of the things our daughter can do is extremely hard math problems with long connecting questions all in her head. She doesn't need a pencil and paper to solve a problem. This is truly a gift but unacceptable in school. Most teachers require your child to show their work. When our daughter first started going to Mathnasium in 3rd grade, she scored 1rst grade stats. Mathnasium has been able to formulate a formula for her that has surpassed her academic mathematical abilities. She is now in the 7th grade in Honors Math and other classes. She is currently in 8th grade Algebra, not pre Algebra, honors Algebra. It's incredible how they have been able to shape and mold her in her own likeness! We are super proud of her and can't thank Mrs. Susan and her team enough! The center is geared toward a gym like setting where you can exercise your brain as many days a week they are open. The flexibility of dropping anytime you want is super cool. All sessions are 1 hour. They allow 15 minutes at the end of each session to address help with homework. If your child is struggling academically this is truly a great answer to your problem!

The overall positives of the school are cultural diversity among the staff and student body, a family feel, and friendly, caring faculty and staff, as well as building updates on the preschool side. Preschool Pros: curriculum Preschool Cons: Teacher retention; on average, children go through at least 2 lead teachers a year, and it's a revolving door for assistants. When our children were attending SCAWG, it was advertised as an advanced curriculum school; it's not. We withdrew our youngest child first because it's easiest to succeed in surrounding charter schools' lotteries when entering kindergarten. Youngest attended from age 2.5 - 5 (VPK). Youngest is testing above grade level in ELA (was even promoted to grade 1 phonics class at new school) on Florida's statewide standardized assessments (F.A.S.T); however, Math results were below grade level. Elementary School Pros: N/A Elementary School Cons: no technology in classrooms, teacher retention, no behavioral specialist, inadequate disciplinary action, unrealistic amount of at-home supplementing, ineffective curriculum, no positive reinforcements for academic achievement, no standardized test prep, combined 4th and 5th grade class Oldest attended from age 3-9 (grade 3.5; we withdrew after mid-year). For context, in kindergarten, first, and second grade, the oldest had all A's with 1 B for the whole school year. Q1 of third grade all A's, one B, Q2 of third grade all A's, one B. Oldest tested at grade level in ELA on F.A.S.T and below grade level in Math. At SCAWG, they introduce concepts and move on quickly without allowing the child adequate time to practice or retain what they've learned. While every institution has its pros and cons, we're most disappointed by what we now realize is a horrible curriculum and questionable teaching styles. There are better elementary school options in the area than SCAWG, and I urge you to exhaust them. SCAWG Elementary turned out to be a colossal waste of money for us - it shouldn't have to be for you, too.

There are also cameras there to peek in on them and give me a little piece of mind with the youngest having such a hard time adjusting. This is a fantastic place to bring your kids to grow and learn!
