Item arrived late despite guaranteed Saturday delivery and they blamed it on the Covid pandemic. What they didn't mention was that they sent the package late. They sent the package to the post office at 5:02 pm, the day after my payment was received. ( I purchased another item from another seller online and it arrived on Saturday because it was sent to the postal on time) They then message me stating I should have refused the package if I didn't want it. I'm sorry I work 12 hours shifts saving patients from covid. I am disappointed with their excuse on why the item arrived late and the impolite message. I love Linda's Gifts. They have such a wonderful selection of gifts for everyone. The are also so very gracious and offer free wrapping. I was at their store yesterday buying Christmas gifts for my mother and sister. I was looking at candles and got fumble fingers and dropped a $30 candle on the floor and it broke!! I said that I would definitely pay for it. I felt so awful, but the lady who saw me break it said that she would not charge me for it and she swept up the mess. She also helped me find the right fragranced candle. She was very warm and kind to me. She also walked me over to the other side of the store to help me have them wrapped. I was strapped for time and needed a greeting card. Albertsons has crappy ones (in the village) so I ran in here. This place has been here for years. The card selection, strictly speaking, is just okay. I actually found a decent one because I was desperate, but it'll get the job done. I'm SUPER picky about my greeting cards- I'm a Paper Source kind of person, and these are all by some designer I've never heard of! No one said hello or approached me once. Tis the season and I can't think of a better place to stop for holiday goodies than Linda's Gifts. I modified the Price Range to one $ because it has a wide variety of inexpensive gifts. I have always found their service to be friendly and they offer to gift wrap with every purchase. This place is great for sentimental gifts. They have jewelry and ornaments from local artists. My kids loved going into this store because of all the little, overpriced trinkets. Not anymore. My husband bought me something for Christmas and it wasn't my style so I brought it back with the receipt. The gift (wrap)had been gift wrapped and when I brought it back, we realized the tag was no longer on it. Linda said she couldn't return it without the tag and that we shouldn't have removed the tag. I told her we didn't remove the tag, that there wasn't a tag on it when I unwrapped it. She proceeded to tell me that no one on her at staff ever removes tags, yada yada yada. So, she was implying that I was lying. Long story short, the worst customer service ever!! So rude. When we finally left, even my kids said to me "I don't think she should shop there anymore, she was so rude!! Let's not support her business anymore." My friends and I stayed in Carlsbad overnight and had some time to wander the town before we had to go home. I had been in Linda's before to browse, so we knew we wanted to go back in. The only reason why my review is not only one star is that the product is great and there's a wide variety, including Jim Shore, Willow Tree, Christmas ornaments, themed wine glasses...if you're looking for gifts and you're in the area, this is the place. However, the woman we encountered was incredibly rude. My favorite shelf in the store contains Nao by Lladro figurines. They're beautiful and sentimental to me and honestly a little out of my price range, so I had no intention of purchasing. There was one figurine of a little girl who was sleeping with a book that said "Disney" and Tinkerbell was watching over her, and I thought it was so cute and wanted to take a photo to send to another friend. No sooner had I pulled my phone out was she at my side with her hand in my face. Can I say that again? She had her hand in my face. "There are no photos allowed in this store. You just can't do that." It caught me off-guard, but I didn't want to be rude. I shut my phone down and started putting it away and said "Oh. I'm sorry, I didn't know." I expected it to be over, no big deal, no harm, no foul, but she continued. "We're going to be putting signs up saying 'no photos allowed.' It's becoming a real problem. I can't have that in my store." So, my previous concern that maybe I had just missed the signs was voided-apparently there were none yet. So she continued on for a minute and I listened, and during a lull, I asked, "why?" She looked like she was going to rip my face off (not literally, but she was pissed, how dare I question her) so I quickly added "I'm not arguing, I'm just wondering." She informed me that "people come in here and snap photos of the things they want then go online and purchase them later, and I just can't have that in my business, I need people to make purchases here." So I apologized and said thank you to her and my friend and I walked away, silently rolling our eyes, and left the store empty handed. I can't express enough how offensive her tone was. I felt like a child getting slapped on the wrist, or a teenager getting scolded for trespassing or something. She treated me like my actions were the worst ever even though it was an honest mistake and I was nothing but apologetic, and that was the last thing we got to do before we left Carlsbad. It was such a bummer. I almost called back to the store to tell her that the way she treated me was not ok, but I couldn't bring myself to lecture an older woman on her customer service. I will never make a purchase at this store due to this encounter. So, moral of the story, don't take photos in this store unless you're prepared to get your head bit of. Walk through quietly, don't make eye contact, and make mental notes of the things you like. read more

This is a fun place. There's gotta be something here for everybody. The prices are maybe a little in the mid to high range but I think there's probably something for that squeaky wallet shopper as well. One of those gift stores with humorous signs that remind you you're a pig, or your cat owns you etc... Like I said it's a fun place. It makes gift shopping easy. read more

I was honestly shocked at the way I was treated by a lady in this store today when I came in to buy stamps so I could mail a letter. She curtly told me they didn't sell envelopes there so I had to leave and buy one somewhere else and when I came back to buy the stamps and mail the letter, to my surprise, I saw in another corner of the store there were racks upon racks of greeting cards with envelopes and other such items for sale. I was frustrated to say the least, not only that I would be so rudely treated and dismissed, but that I was basically lied to, when I most certainly would have bought what I needed there, had I been treated with a minimal amount of decency. DO NOT waste your time at this shop. They sell some cute things and I would've definitely made this a one stop for all my gift needs had my experience been different, but I'm never setting foot in this store again. read more

Yes, this place is full of trinkets and do-dads galore. It's a suitable shop if you are a tourist and looking for some stuff to cart home. What is horrible about this place is the employees. Not only did an employee just about run my mother over to put a mug back on the shelf (without an "excuse me" or acknowledgement at all) but the rest of the employees are unhelpful, completely stuck up and rude. This isn't the first time I've been in there either. I go whenever we have friends or family visiting and every single time I go in there, it is the same. We seem to find ourselves at the Carlsbad Village on most weekends. It's either Vinaka, the Gelato shop, Craft Burger, watching the trains go by (the little one LOVES trains) or throwing pennies in the fountain which brings us here. We rarely venture inside the shops because its typically a lot of tourists stuff but on occasion, I'll pop into Linda's gifts to browse. 9 times out of 10, I'll walk out empty-handed. But, on occasion, they have unique gifts that are worth picking up. This last visit, I intentionally went in because I wanted to get a set of coasters that were unique and not something you'd find at Bed, Bath and Beyond or Target. I ended up scoring and finding a series of Carlsbad, California branded coasters with images of sites found around the city. There were a dozen or so different ones and I got to choose the 4 that I liked the best. At $4.99/peice, it was an awesome find and I love looking at them on our coffee table each day. I'm glad I stopped in - my coaster find exceeded my expectations. Love them! read more

The time I came here I came with my 5 year old. We didn't have any problems. In fact the cashier was a man who had a warm attitude and helped us with no problems. There were quite a few things that caught my eyes. Greeting cards, stationary, lotions, soaps, jelly cat plus he's, and just trinkets overall. HORRIBLE SERVICE! DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!!! The ladies who work here are so mean. We went in to get my daughter a balloon for her first birthday. There were no other shoppers but 3 employees. They told me they have balloons and I saw all the colors, strings etc. after waiting in front of them for 10 minutes they were so rude and clearly didn't want to make her a balloon! Little do they know we were going to buy a bunch of ornaments as well. Once I said we will leave they still didn't care to help us. CRUEL! We walked everywhere to get her a balloon and these ladies ruined it. My family has been shopping here for over 30 years as my parents are very involved in the city of Carlsbad, but now I will NEVER step foot inside again.. Or my friends or family. Omg!! So I just walked in with my cousin to find some birthday Tiaras for my birthday this month. As we're looking through stuff I came across a bunch of awesome items that I wanted to purchase. So my cousin and I try them on to make sure they fit right and one of the sales person's a lady with a purple shirt and short blonde hair walks up to my cousin and tells her that if we were not going to purchase the item that we could not try it on. My cousin response to her that we were considering buying all these items but we needed to make sure they were going to fit correctly. So what happens the lady responds back to my cousin and tell her that she doubted that we were going to purchase anything! Are you kidding me did she just really say that to a customer especially when we were going to spend our money to buy things for my birthday! The amount disrespect that this lady provided for us only made our customer experience the worst possible it does not matter who you are you always treat your customers the right way if and when they are being respectful to you and in this case we had nothing but respect and we're ready to drop some cash to buy items in this area. We have already purchased items here before and had really great service prior to this lady coming up to us and talking this stupid nonsense about how she doubted that we were going to purchase anything at all. I hope that you read this lady with the purple shirt and blonde hair because the amount of disrespect that you gave us will never happen again I will always tell everybody about this place and how not to come here thank you but no thank you I will take my business and purchase my birthday things elsewhere in a place where I will not be disrespected! read more

We found and were fascinated by this place some months ago, and were eager to return when we were back in North County recently. While the selection of fun and funky merchandise remains excellent, the friendly and helpful attitude has been replaced by snarkiness. In particular, we have been looking for a small metal Christmas ornament tree, and found one on Linda's shelf, bedecked with miniature Christmas sweater ornaments. Because it had a price tag on it, I picked it up and approached a clerk to tell her we wanted to buy it. Linda, who saw this, immediately and loudly stated that it was not for sale as it was used to display the items that were. She could not explain why, if that is the case, it had a price tag. The clerk took it away and it disappeared into a back room. A few minutes later, as I stood in line to pay for other items, Linda - who was on the register - spoke to the woman in front of me, loudly and pointedly mocking the customer who "tried to take our ornament tree." That uncalled-for and embarrassing remark took the glow off our experience. There are many trinket stores around where customers are treated with respect. We will shop at those places in the future. read more

I feel that this shop has so many great items to purchase. It is so hard these days to find a quality gift shop that you can find unique presents at. It is so refreshing to come here with all my needs and not have to rely on searching the malls. The sales people that work there are so nice and they do free gift wrapping. They are located in a fun shopping area with lots of other shops and restaurants. And if you are a tourist, they have lots to offer regarding the Carlsbad theme. My husband and I shopped at Linda's Gifts during our vacation in Carlsbad in December 2011. The store is beautiful and offers a wonderful selection of little souvenirs. However, we were taken a back by the Staff when finalizing our purchase. My husband wanted to pay with a $100.00 bill that they refused to accept most likely because they thought it could be fake (ladies should invest in $10.00 pen that is commonly used by other retail businesses if they are worried that their customers are there to rob them). Then, to make things worse, when a credit card was handed to the clerk, she run to the back of the store to make a copy(!?). Well, it's one month later and I still remember that unpleasant experience and will avoid this store on my future trips. read more

Unfortunately my husband and I made a very bad choice to shop at this store. I was looking for fancy hand soap and aromatic diffuser. I noticed they carried hand soap so we both proceeded to browse the store for the other item, when we encountered this giant miserable woman that looked us up and down and said in condescending manner can I help you folks? Then immediately turned her back to us and walked away. This seems to be the theme with this store, from other reviews I've now read customers walk in and they're treated badly. Well no wonder why when you walk in, the store shelves are packed and overloaded with items. It's obvious the product never moves because they treat their customers poorly. Thankfully there is a little shop towards the front of this complex called Mermaids of Carlsbad, where they treat the customers with respect and I found my fancy hand soap for my guest bathroom. read more
